The thing that amazed me was the edge hold on groomers and hard pack though. I’ve never been able to lay over carves this far.
I have a love/hate relationship with this channel. I started this year with 1 board, an old Ride that I don't know what it's called because the top sheet is long since fucked and some Flow bindings I've had since I was 15 (I'm 30 now). Now, Avran had convinced me to buy a T Rice Pro 155 for the park, a Golden Orca 161 for a daily driver, a 159 Mega Merc for when my friends get squirrelly and think they can beat me in a race, along with a pair of Supermatics for lazy days or with my skier family and a pair of Forces for everything else. I don't know whether to give you a proverbial hug or a shank from behind.
Solid list. I'm torn between last years, 2024 mega merc or this year PYL uninc....advanced rider, looking for an all mountain charger, love flow and carving turns, that can handle pow days if needed and can do a little switch. 5'10, 175, 10.5 boots, looking at a 156w mega merc or 155/157 PYL... thoughts
@@jeffstewart4162 I feel like Yes isn't represented enough on the slopes...they get good press but I don't see them as often as some other boards mentioned in similar company, Jones comes to mind. I bought a Optimistic a couple years ago and its been a killer all mountain powder, groomers, etc. board.
Always good to see a Rossi on the lists. Sadly Rossi is either known as the ski brand or brand for rentals in EU. Every boarder I know shits on Rossingnol. Loved my Magtek and still ride from time to time it eventhough its pretty much 10 years old by now.
I have 2020 rossignol trickstick and it’s rly meh, definitely worst deck I rode besides shitty rentals. It still is not bad, but it’s definitely the worst.
I ride Rossi and Jones. My '16 XV is still one of the best freakin pow boards I have, right there with my '21 Stratos. My One is just as good as my MT, my old Retox still slays the effing park, and my Jibsaw Elite fucks reeeeel nice. Preferred it enough over my Capita Merc so I sold the Merc, and the Merc was pretty dope. And yeah I've ridden Burton, K2, Gnu, Lib, and some other stuff. I just ride what I like. Rossi and Jones. It's good you don't give a fuck what people say. Do as Uncle Avran and just be a dope ass retro mofo that rocks Pat Benatar. #loveisabattlefield
Ive really been interested in the Gamma. I love my Greats so freaking much and I have a UMT and love the spoon tech Nidecker and Jones are doing, but I think a lot of what I love about the Greats is the super tight sidecut and the Gamma just seems average. I also have a Sensor and like it, but it doesn't spin as easy as my Greats Edit: if you combine those 3 boards, Im pretty sure you just end up with the Gamma APX

Been looking at Superposition and PYL UnInc along with others in that general category for a powder-forward freeride deck for Mammoth steeps/trees-- K2 Excavator, Nitro Dinghy, Gnu Hyper, Rome Stalefish. How's that top 6? Any others I should consider? Thanks for all the content.
I'd look at Ravine Select over the Stalefish, more powder oriented. Hyper is real soft, but you might like the Ride Moderator. Otherwise, lists on point.
I have underrated Rossignol boards for years until i ve been on the retox and the revenant. The retox is a real Park board with solid alpine abilities. As for the revenant,.disturbing on hard snow for 1-2 days and Once i got it.....soooo much fun in the sidecut. As for pow: it is a skateboard for pow but still very solid. I had no idea i could love a rockered board that much. And i own and ride many boards. From a small nug reedition to big swallow tail board and carve boards, bataleon, arbor, Salomon, burton etc etc... But those Rossi boards have a unique signature.....
Get on a Sushi or a Sashimi next. You'll be surprised of how much serious snowboarding they managed to pack into those weird shapes, especially the Sushi.

West La Hache, super amazing All Mountain board. Quite expensive, also with shipment to the US might be really steep, but really a great board from a small Swiss brand.

Topsheet isn't the only issue. Lack of traditional camber while doubling down on adding more camber zones that don't help at this point. Sidecuts aren't dialed. Their layup process hasn't been improved since the late 90's. Their base material is the shittiest stuff they can pull from Crown Plastics. Die cut bases with a rough finish on a board over 500 dollars is fucking criminal. I can go on and on. They haven't made a good board in almost 15 years. They make a lot of mid tiered or lower shit that they try to pass off as being higher quality when it's not. Do better.

Hey Avran, greetings from Lithuania! I'm looking for a snowboard and would love to hear Your thoughts! I'm a snowboarding instructor (mainly beginners and intermediate), therefore I stay at the beginner and blue slopes a lot (I get to ride switch more than my regular stance which is weird, we have many goofy learners here). But when I ride.. I go from mellow cruising to hard charging depending on the mood. Also, I'm enjoying my park progress (small-mediumish jumps and starting to jib rails). I fell in love with camber and only want THAT camber POP. Would like to hear if anything comes to mind 🙂

The Deepfake has more carbon in it making it more responsive for sure. If you're worried about it in trees then I would say go to the Moderator instead. Little less carbon in it but still very responsive but more agile torsionally.
Just out of interest, did they change the freaker too? I had a season ender on my beloved freaker last spring that effed my daily driver almost as bad as myself. I'll probably go for the last years discount model to replace it, but if the new is somehow even improved, I might tolerate the ugly new colors :D
I only saw that board in one shop, and it was too big to even try. I don't think it got hyped much, at least in my area (NW Vermont), but I talked to some guys who rode it and they said it was fun as hell, so I'm guessing it's that good
It didn't sell out. Most people look past it because A) The Graphic 2) They don't know how good it actually is. Seeing these sitting for 30% off in the spring tells me all I need to know that it isn't hyped enough.

Tbh, the graphic on the 2025 Warden is kind of lackluster... 3 centerline word "Rome" and a blue stripe down the middle isn't exactly artistic to me... The Nerd Superposition or the Retox's graphic is definitely fire though. Wish Rome pivot their art to something more than just some random spray paint on the wall type of art...

As long as your boot size matches up to the width you should be fine on either depending on how long you want to go. But if you're sub size 10 I'd probably look elsewhere as that's going to be real wide.

Not sure why but it didn’t work for me. Caught the nose quite a bit on heavier warm pow days and maybe just a little stiff for what I like.

All ARC's for this season are made in Canada. The Samurai was just made for the Australia market. Very limited run.

Debating between warden and ride agenda. Will be 3rd season this winter, first new board, enjoy hitting blues haven’t tried a black yet prob will this season. Heard another reviewer say warden is for advanced riders anyone agree with that?
Who the fuck said that? Honestly you can't go wrong with either, but I do feel the Warden is a slightly better choice just due to the tech in it.

It's slowed down with age, used to grow 2 -3 inches a month back in the day.
Tbh, the graphic on the 2025 Warden is kind of lackluster... 3 centerline word "Rome" and a blue stripe down the middle isn't exactly artistic to me... The Nerd Superposition or the Retox's graphic is definitely fire though. Wish Rome pivot their art to something more than just some random spray paint on the wall type of art...

Hey Avran, I love the look of this board and it looks perfect for my riding style, they even have distributors in Australia so fingers crossed on shipping. You mentioned that it's a wide board and I'm a smaller guy; 171cm and approx 70kg. Reckon this is still a good buy for us fellas with smaller frames? also 154 or 156? @AngrySnowboarder

As long as your boot size matches up to the width you should be fine on either depending on how long you want to go. But if you're sub size 10 I'd probably look elsewhere as that's going to be real wide.
