Mary Weiss was an American singer who became famous as the lead singer of the Shangri-Las, a 1960s girl group known for their songs about teenage love and tragedy. She started singing with her sister Betty and friends Mary Ann and Margie Ganser in school. They had hits like "Remember (Walking in the Sand)" and "Leader of the Pack". She released her first solo album, Dangerous Game, in 2007. Mary was honored by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 for her contribution to the girl group era. She died on January 19, 2024, at the age of 75.
