I was 10 in 1964, hearing "Remember (walking in the sand)" and those girls voices were seared into my soul...then when I finally saw them...OH MY GOD...Mary was beyond words to describe, but she had this boy's heart💘. On top of everything, the "Leader of the Pack's" name was Jimmy, my name. Now, I'm heartbroken 💔 that Mary, as well as Mary Ann and Marge, have passed on. I pray that Mary's sister, Liz (Betty), knows how many of us truly loved and treasured them.

I don't believe that the music of the 60's girl groups is what inspired punk or heavy metal. It was probably more the image and attitude the Shangri-las had that was the influence. I'm a boomer. I was there, listening and being mesmerized by The Shangri-las and all the other artists of that decade.
