Waves plugins subscription program, Creative Access, got a lot of heat at release from music producers, singers, songwriters and musicians all over since the company originally planned to get rid of perpetual licenses. However, 1 or 2 months later I decided to give the platform a try since I was in the middle of mixing vocals for a song in my newest release. There are tons of plugins that waves has I have not been able to use because I did not own them and I have a bit of a love, hate relationship with music production tools that require a monthly payment. On one end I enjoy the access at a lower rate. On the other end I do not enjoy the fact that I am essentially renting a music tool I will never own after making so many payments. With this in mind I decided to bite the bullet anyway and take a look at what Creative Access had to offer, after all it does technically seem to be the best and most vast plugin bundle on earth now for mixing and mastering. I am 100% glad perpetual was brought back and now that I have the choice to choose between the 2 I figured one month to try isn't such a bad idea. What I found was that I actually enjoyed access to the tools. So this video showcases a bit of me recording and using some of those tools while speaking about who I think this subscription plan is for and how I think it can be useful to anyone that desires to use it.

Loved this one bro! Tracks were on crazy too! The Butch Vig is a hidden gem! I used it on every vocal from my Album back in 2018!
I LOvE the full access plan. They screwed up by trying to force it down everyOne's throat, but for me I'd end up paying about that much annually in WUP fees anyway. I purchased the Horizon bundle plus a number of other plugins. Waves often makes useful upgrades and comes out with new plugs fairly often, so I like to keep up to date. Works for me.
Thank you for your perspective! I have been overwhelmed with learning all of the different parts to mixing and mastering my songs. I say every month that I will end so many of the current subscriptions I have in order to pay for those to help me improve the music goals I have.

I can help any genre! Most of them I have an understanding of, there are a few like scream rap that I’ve never mixed before so I may not quite get stuff like that but everything else I can do pretty well. And no problem! I can’t remember if it was you but someone else asked me to give my take on this so I figured now was a great time to do that since I’ve tried it for the last month.

Absolutely agree. People shouldn’t feel pressured to subscribe like initially when waves announced it but they also shouldn’t feel pressured NOT to since we now have the choice. It’s all about what you need for your own work and music needs. 🙏🏾

For waves plugins the subscription model makes sense and is the way to go. Perpetual plugins are cheap at first but keeping them updated is expensive
Especially when you own a bunch. It makes more sense for me too to just pay monthly instead of buying all perpetual and then having to spend thousands to update everything every single year. You end up spending the same if not more money.

I was in my feelings about it until I realized my update plan costs me $100 more per year than the subscription lol. I’m like what kind of sense does that make? Since I always update, I may as well pay less for it and own everything.

How many systems can you use the subscription on ?
Simultaneously? Just one. But if you want to switch between computers all you have to do is put the license back in the cloud from the old computer and then register it from the new computer. You can do this as many times as you want to switch between systems.

I might be one of the very few in the world who actually appreciate companies going towards subscription based services.
Of course, there are downsides, but the fact you have access to EVERYTHING they have for a fraction, is very convenient.
15/20 bucks a month and you have access to thousands of dollars worth plugins? Can’t beat that, because you can always try and see which plugins you like the most or don’t like at all and still saving big money because you never bought the perpetual licenses in the first place. 🤷🏻♂️

$25 a month isn’t unreasonable
considering it would probably cost $30 per plugin and there’s 230 of them
that’s $7000 value for $300 a year
you could be subscribed for the next 23 years and still have it be a good value

As someone who owns plugins, yes. There are positives to owning. There are also positives to subscribing. Those of which I have already mentioned in videos but if you did not see:
Waves makes you pay yearly update fees on plugins you already own anyway. The yearly price for me to update the…10 or so plugins I had, exceeded the price to just subscribe yearly. Instead of paying the same price for 10 plugins every year anyway, I decided it’s better to subscribe and have access to every single plugin they have available. If I’m gonna be paying annually anyway, why not subscribe and have everything?
