There's no such thing as a "human race". A race is a SUBSET of humans, based on particular ancestry. It's like saying "There's only of breed of dog, the Canine breed". No, there are Canines, and there are breeds of Canines. Pretending every dog is the same breed is as silly as pretending everyone is the same race.

Mack got very little recognition for his accomplishment when he got home. He was overshadowed by Jesse in the Olympics and later overshadowed by his little brother who became a hero to millions.
I was lucky enough to meet him once at the very first Jackie Robinson night at Dodger Stadium in 1977. He was a very kind and generous man. He gave me a ball that he and members of the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers had signed. I still have it.

We went to a diner and when we went in the door there was a group of men standing waiting to be seated. The mother of my friend suddenly stopped talking and looked at the men and said "HEY, YOU'RE RALPH METCALFE!!" It was funny that I had just read a book about Jesse Owens and know right away who he was. He was visiting friends in St Louis as part of doing some campaigning for election. I had had a chance to chat with him briefly, and, got to shake his hand. He was so open and friendly and very approachable. I only wish I had a picture with him.

A Jesse Owens los alemanes lo trataron mejor que los mismos gringos en su propio país. Jesse Owens en Estados Unidos lo tenían apartado por su color de piel.
