I honestly loved this. You were not talking out your ass, very modest, and you didn't act to professional. This was the best tutorial i've ever saw... thank you very much. Subbed and liked.
im not tryin to be mean but im glad im not the only one.. i was kinda in a hurry because Dxtory failed on me and i kept yelling "oh cmon shush.. idgaf" but i have adhd too mate!
Ok you have multiple options. Firstly right click in the scenes box and create a scene. Then in sources, right click and add a game capture. Right click the game capture, uncheck "capture any fullscreen application" and then select your game in the drop down menu (the game must be open at this point). It should then appear in the preview window, where you can re-position and re-scale it.
Thank you sooo much dude, you don't realize how much that helped me out. lol they should just make a simpler version for beginners like me. And because you helped me out, I'll sub to you, I'd appreciate if you'd do the same,
If you don't have a gaming computer or something like that, is it going to lagg with bitrate on 50 000? If it does, what do you recommend for bitrate setting?
You sir are a supastaaaa ! I found your older video and was about to ask you if you still used the same method . So glad I found this . Thank you for helping a noob in need
Hi, I did follow all your settting.. but the video i captures are not high quality... My CPU is i7 6700 and Graphics card is 850 I still not satisfy for my video quality .. Please advise ... how come ur video" OBS Studio Tutorial 2016 - How To Record PC Games (Best Settings) " is so clear and so high quality when i putting in 1080 HD in youtube ??
WOW! Thank you so much! My recordings were lagging a bit on OBS Classic when I recorded at 1080p 60fps at a low quality balance. With these settings, my recordings are as clear as playing the game!
I have a question. I have a laptop for my games and no other computers I am saving up for a new PC. Should I start recording videos on the laptop, or wait until I get enough money for a new pc. RUclips could possibly be a good income to get a new PC faster, but my videos wouldn't be as good quality as if I have a decent pc. Can someone please give me an answer to this question, should I get a new PC first, then record videos, or use the laptop so I could upgrade faster.
I am trying to find a recording app so i can record. I can not record with this. Im sorry, i just could not do it. Thank you for your time, but this is not the app for me, have any other suggestions?
Not sure if this is normal but I selected Game Capture and hooked it up to a game, and in my preview of the window I saw that the colors would spaz out in specific areas and I'm confused whether that may show up in the recordings or it's just something to do with the Settings?
I have a Nvidia GTX970 GPU but when I try to used NVENC H.264 I receive an error as soon as I try to record a scene. I have to use X264. I do not have the latest graphics driver, still using 364.51 released on 2016.3.8 so maybe I need to update the driver although I have heard people with the same error who have the latest driver. Thanks.
so have set it up to as close as possible to match yours however when I press start recording it says "Invalid path or connection URL please check your settings to make sure they are valid" any suggestions I'm trying to record using a laptop if this makes any difference.
can u explain it jack frags dose not explane multi Chanel audio very well. and he has a mixing thing not a virtual one I've tryed VoiceMeeter and when i use it on obs it comes out of desktop audio and the virtual one? then when i change it i can't hear anything. help?
Thank you for this awesome tutorial. I have been wanting to get into game play recording for a while now and finally I can do that with an awesome program with really good quality recordings. You've got a sub and a like from me for such an In-Depth video. :)
please help me i can't record videos again even when i delete alot of vids and in computer. Please when i press the "start recording" and a page said "the configured file output path is invalid. please check your settings to confirm that a valid file path has been set" idk what to do so.... yea idk
Thank you, your instructions got me to a point where after a little fiddling it got good. I found that anything under 100000 in the bitrate box made it all look so low quality and pixelated.
Thanks for the help setting up OBS! I would like to cast my vote for a Premier Pro video if you haven't done one already. Thanks again for the good work!
I just recorded Minecraft but now I want to record Kerbal Space Program. How do I do that because simply starting up the game doesnt show t=it in the recording thingy
this doesn't seem to work with games that play in "full screen". I tried using settings to capture windows using hotkeys, but that just gives me a black screen with the audio from the game. Is there a way to get this to work? I'm trying to record Portal 2 if that makes any difference.
Whenever I try to record game play from Rome Total War, there is a black space to the right of the video which makes the video off centered and quite honestly, annoying. How can I fix that?
Thank you for the help, but when i try to record a game that lags if you have multiple apps open, such as CSGO, then how could I record CSGO without lagging? Also, when i have OBS open, my friends in discord cannot hear me. Can someone help?
Help! I completed everything said in the video but my in-game audio has stopped working. I still hear things on my headphones, but the video doesn't pick it up.
So everything works fine with me but when I want to see the recording its really lagging. Like when I recorded it on my minecraft it was not. But after the recording I wanted to look at my recoring and it was all laggy. I hope someone can help me out
What's cef-bootstrap.exe it's in obs studio and adds sooo much cpu usage do i even need it because this keeps making more of it's self used at once and killing cpu usage :
Can someone help me please? My obs doesn't record any other windows such as discord or chrome etc and whenever i try to preview I always get a black screen , just as it is in my recordings.
I have troubles with opening the recording. I cant seen to look at my recordings after making them so I dont know if it works or not. I hope someone can help me...
I did exacly what you did in this video, and i can record videos now! Lets take an example: I went into minecraft and started recording, and it did record me playing minecraft (with 300fps) BUT after i was done, I stoped the recording, but the video (mp4) was soooo laggy (like 3fps) and i have no idea why? As i said, i did exacly as you in this video and i have a good enought computer. Plz help
Thanks for making this video! I was using a different means of game capture that I won't mention (Hint: It rhymes with craps) and this method creates FAR SUPERIOR videos in terms of quality and smaller file size.
when i did everything, i out in the window i wanted to record but it did not show up on OBS, it kept a black screen. a couple months ago i know it used to work but not i dont think it does
Hello Nice vid , i just wanted to ask you about something, when i record im having a problem with colors, are too brighter and its really anoying . I just wanted to know if u can help me :)
I have my fps value set to 60 but when i try to record a game, whenever the ingame fps drops to below 60 and i see the video afterwards , the part of the video where my game fps was below 60 it looks laggy for the amount of time i as under 60 fps so there's just random stutters in the video. most of the time i was at 60 fps but when it did drop under that, it was between 55 and 59 fps which is still smooth. i can't turn off vsync either because the whole video just lags.
So I assume that what is happening is that your whole pc isn't powerful enough for these settings. When the pc hangs, the fps in your game drops and obs also lags. That's why the file is laggy at these points. Look for some lower settings, reduce the recording fps and resolution.
Diablo 3, can't get it to record D: I have it at windowed, not full screen, one time it worked when I clicked the catch steam and overlays, but not anymore.
how do I record a CERTAIN part of the video? Just the gameplay. No task bar etc.. when i play flash games I want only the game to see for the viewers not task bar,... PLEASE ANSWER!
good tutorial, i have AMD but i think i was able to get some optimal settings, also, i downloaded this just recently and i was only able to find 32 bit? seems to be working fine tho tbh
I honestly loved this. You were not talking out your ass, very modest, and you didn't act to professional. This was the best tutorial i've ever saw... thank you very much. Subbed and liked.

Thanks a lot, I have been so tired of using XSplit and now finally I can use OBS.
Ok, that helped me with the settings part, but I don't know how to physically record. Any advise or help is greatly appreciated
Ok you have multiple options.

So I did this and it still didn't work. Does obs just no work on laptops?
I tried doing that, but all I see is black screen.
I'm playing Skyrim and I'm running the 64 bit version of this system... so... what the hell?
maybe because not all laptops are designed for gaming
If you don't have a gaming computer or something like that, is it going to lagg with bitrate on 50 000? If it does, what do you recommend for bitrate setting?
You sir are a supastaaaa ! I found your older video and was about to ask you if you still used the same method . So glad I found this . Thank you for helping a noob in need

I like how you mention a source to help with audio, but you don't put a link...
please help me i can't record videos again even when i delete alot of vids and in computer. Please when i press the "start recording" and a page said "the configured file output path is invalid. please check your settings to confirm that a valid file path has been set" idk what to do so.... yea idk

I just recorded Minecraft but now I want to record Kerbal Space Program. How do I do that because simply starting up the game doesnt show t=it in the recording thingy
I have recorded a few videos with your settings and the quality is terrible. Can someone please help me.

Hi I wonder if you can help me. When I stream through obs, it doesn't come up full screen on the stream. Do you know how to fix this?
I have a newer version of obs studio and it is has something called b-frames in the output menu. What are those?

Thank you for the help, but when i try to record a game that lags if you have multiple apps open, such as CSGO, then how could I record CSGO without lagging? Also, when i have OBS open, my friends in discord cannot hear me. Can someone help?
mine has all the same settings apart from windows in game capture so how do I get my games too show up on the black screen if theres nothing there?.
Hmm, is there any video that can help me with QuickSync.H264 settings for OBS Studio?
Don't you have to set what application you want to record, or does it start automatically?
I follow all the steps of multiple videos, but when I record, all that comes out is a black screen and audio. What's going wrong?
If you look on the top where it says "Output Mode" put it on advanced and it should fix the "NVENC H.264" problem with nvidia users.
Great tutorial for this novice. Happy gaming!
what's recommended for AMD E-450 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 1.65 GHz ?
Quick question @FourEyes , What gpu do you have atm.
Finally, one with the latest version.
It won't let me start recording because of some "encoder problem" which I can only find any options for in the stream settings.
So when I record it runs smoothly but a lot of the times there like lines of pixilated areas in the video. is there a way to fix that?
Help! I completed everything said in the video but my in-game audio has stopped working. I still hear things on my headphones, but the video doesn't pick it up.

Hello Nice vid , i just wanted to ask you about something, when i record im having a problem with colors, are too brighter and its really anoying . I just wanted to know if u can help me :)
Seems pretty straight forward...cheers m8
For anyone having problems with pixelation and low quality, make sure to set your bitrate at 50,000! I misread it and put 5000. Huge difference.
Great tut mate
when i do a game capture my game is cut off in half do u know a fix?
Thxxxxxxx! I only saw old Vids But I finally found it!!!

Thx it worked for me! i subbed and liked :D
