I’ve had mine for about 4 years and it’s been the best ride I’ve ever had, I have 63,000 miles on it and will keep going until something doesn’t go anymore
Some of the things I love about the V Star 1300 are the hardtail look, the excellent lean angles (35 & 36 degrees), the acceleration (with aftermarket pipes, fuel controller or tune, and CAI they will run the quarter in the 12s with 0-60 under 4 seconds), fuel efficiency (I routinely get 48+ MPG running it hard in the mountains of Wyoming), and responsive handling partly due to the 48%/52% front/rear weight distribution. The bulletproof drivetrain is a big plus, as well. The first replacement rear tire on my '07 was a Metzler 180/70-16. While it was nice to eliminate much of the factory speedo error, it ended up slick from chicken strip-to-chicken strip in under 4,000 miles. Ended up going darkside with a 205/60-16 BF Goodrich on back.
Glad to hear you have had great experience with your 1300 too. Yes you are right about the acceleration . Once you get going in that 1st gear it can take you by surprise haha. Also yes you are right about the pipes , they do add extra oomph. Granted I didn't care for the extra noise. Tires .. man So far the c2 has been my better experience. I keep hearing iffy things about the 888s.
@@dbest1aVlogs If I go back to a motorcycle tire on the rear, it will be an Avon Cobra Chrome. Doesn't have quite the tread life of a Commander (still very good, though), but they are GRIPPY. I have the C2 on the front of my 1300, and it feels very "wooden" and it's really hinky in the wet...I've almost lost the front end twice riding in rain, even though I take it super-easy when the roads have any water on them.
Excellent Review...I went from a Kawasaki Vulcan 800 to the 2007 V-Star 1300. Best decision ever. Love the way it rides and sounds. Like you, I don't want my bike obnoxiously loud. Therefore, I drilled out the baffle and got just the sound I was looking for. Great looking bike Bro.
Thank you, and congrats on the new bike. Yes the exhaust drilling is a trade off. The bike losses a little responsiveness also, but there is just less noise on long 3hr+ rides. After a while the loud pipes get a bit annoying especially at speeds above 70. Below 55 it isn't bad. Loosing the responsiveness kind of sucks, but it is what it is I guess. Our bikes are geared tall n that's a good n bad thing for a cruiser. Great when you wanna get in it , sucks when you just want to mellow out chill cruise. Wishing you plenty of safe miles on your vstar , be sure the clutch recall was done and lube that clutch and throttle wires every so often. Stay safe Ride Safe
I'm past getting the latest & greatest.. Actually I am very satisfied to have bikes that are setup exactly as I want them, do what I need them too and not to mention.. payed for 😉... Seems like you're there with this VStar
Congrats. The bike is very reliable n capable. It's has its flaws n it's strengths. I'm a big believer in the flash. Especially if you will be keeping longer than 2 years.
Thank you very much for taking the time to check it out . haha . You know we get some into our vehicles bro, and it's hard to even think about parting ways. Hope your having a great christmas with the family .
I remember when you got her, it was my first year as a rider. I'm glad she's been good to ya. Why do bike manufacturers use planks for seats?! That's infuriating. She looks great, wishing you many more miles of smiles!
Surprised to hear that about the seat. I’m watching a bunch of reviews right now bc I’m going to look at an 07 1300 tomorrow and most people talk about how much they love the stock seat. Good, thorough review though. I’ll just have to see how it feels for myself tomorrow lol
Very detailed review Bruce! On my '07 VTX, I used the heel shifter all the time..lol! Oh yeah, to keep yourself in the good graces of the wifey, you don't use the top case because she brings more stuff, rather it is to give her a backrest!
Thanks for watching. It has proved itself to be very reliable. No real tangible issues other than the ceappy ecu tune. Lol. I've really been enjoying it. Next stop 50k miles.
I'm a bit surprised you didn't mention a lack of cruise control. I remember how much you liked the one on that Harley you test rode at Americade. Anyway, I can't wait for your 84k review (haha). May you and yours have a very Merry Christmas, B.
Hehe , Cruise Control would definitely be a nice addition, but at a price point of 10k... You won't hear me crying about it . Honestly my biggest gripe with this bike would be the eco tune. I find it pretty horrible. Especially so, coming from a Carb tuned Buell Blast. Now just imagine ...a cv40 carb, with shimmed needle, dial a jet to enrich mixture at high altitudes and a manual tune ignition being smoother than this efi system with all the limiting crap added just to make it emissions legal. That is my main gripe. The Harley , well any of them with cruise control is wonderful, I did love that feature. Just being able to flick up and down to control speed is really nice . At the price point though , 10k more... I would expect nothing less definitely.
That's a good point about the 10k requirement. It's nice but not a necessity. And don't even talk about emission regulations. It's almost impossible to buy any out of state cars or motorcycles in California. The regulations here are as strict as in Europe. I do have to admit that the air quality is so much better than 30 years ago. The price of breathing I guess.
Valve adjustment could be done only if you hear the chattering (ticking) sound. Most don't get it even with over 50k miles. I've done it , it's a bit tedious. Some will pay a shop to go in and inspect.
Great review. If you really want to see an improvement on those front brakes, rebuild that master cylinder. I did that on my 15 and changed out the hoses to another set of stock ones and added a new set of stock rotors to it and it stopped better than when it was new. Great bike all around. I hated to get rid of mine, but mine had 53K on it and wanted something different.
Yes I did mention it has steel brake lines. I have been considering new brake rotors up front. I will have to check the thickness. Thanks for watching , happy holidays
Sounds like a good bike but run for improvement in areas . Luckily you have lots of options available from different suppliers to make it personalized to your own taste.
Yes a very good bike in it's price range. Now a days these parts may be a bit tough to find, but in the last few years not so much. It's possible to find parts though, just have to give a decent search. The factory parts are easy.
Your 100% right . Great products. Thankfully no issues so far and have enjoyed the bike a lot.stay safe and enjoy plenty of miles . Thanks for watching.
Excellent video as always! You are the best RUclips source for the 1300. Had mine for a while 29K and love it!! I find the Cobra slip on to be just the right amount of sound but again I haven't been on long rides either. This year I am considering lowering the rear suspension an inch or so. Do you have any experience with PCS dog bones?
Thank you for the kind words . They are always appreciated. As for the dog bones , they should not be hard to install . The right, brake side may take a little more work due to the bolts being a little more difficult to get out. The reservoir bottle may be in the way. As for the cobra it sounds awesome, but I just wanted less noise. Some will like it. Hopefully the guy I sold it to will enjoy it. He got a heck of a deal. Hehe
Hey getting ready to buy a 12’ 1300 love the lights your running on the front where’d you get them also could you tell where the guy you used to flash the ecu is located. Thanks
Ecu flash is Ivan performance . I think he is in North Carolina now. The passing lamps are stock yamaha passing lamps with Chinese led lamps. Maybe a little difficult to find now a days .. bit possible. Thank you for the kind words
Awesome review Bruce! I just got 2013 Vstar 1300 Deluxe. Throttle feels kind of jerky. You mentioned guy in NJ who did ECU flash for you. Do you mind to share his contact? Thanks!
Hey, Really enjoy your reviews. I went down on my VStar. Which is like yours. My faring is damaged and needs fiberglass work. I see you installed a different faring can you tell me where you ordered it. Thanks
Loved your Video Dbest. Have had 2 1300s in the past, sold one when a Victory Cross Country (fabulous bike I still own) came up for sale near me in summer 2017. Had a 15 red deluxe also in 2020. I always have 2 bikes and have decided to go get another 1300 tourer or deluxe, but am trending towards the tourer so I can put on the Reckelss clone Usa stealth fairing. Curious as to what is the extended width windshield you have on yours as it sure would help with wind management. This time I will get the Ivan's flash. Do you think just a K and N filter would do the job vs your cobra. I will only run Oem pipes, as I do not like loud pipes and oem sound pretty good anyway. From Ivan's chart, most hp and tq gains come from an open air filter. Come winter I will do front suspension as you advised. What a great informative video you produced.
Sometimes with these reviews is hard to cover everything. The Vic CC is a worthy upgrade to the 1300 . Even just being air cooled. The added power n lean angle is really nice. . So with the 1300, just a KnN is good too. You would just want to add a few holes in the cover .. this would help to let a little more air get in . It will also give a little more responsiveness too. I got the cobra intake at a steal of someone used. Lol. I love it though. The flash was a big help for my bike. As it with just the intake n drilled exhaust left a lot to be desired. The bikes behavior was not very good. The exhaust. Well I have a few videos on that. You could see in maintenance Playlist. Under cobra install n test n such. The set up I had was the intake , flash, cobra slip on with baffle wrapped in stove rope. Then I had the fuel tuner from cobra. When I finally got it tuned up nice . She would pin you back in the seat through 1st n 2nd lol.. really pulled hard. I only sold the exhaust due to I hated the noise. Lol.
@@dbest1aVlogs Thanks for the reply. I have been trying to find something for my 2013 Deluxe. Another forum member recently ordered a Reckless fairing.
love the channel ! I have a 2009 electra glide. Looking at one of these though. Guy wants 9k it has 6,500 miles on it. Does this bike do 80mph comfortably ? also how does this bike handle on highway winds . stay blessed !
80mph , I'm gonna have to say yes and no. Yes it will do it. All day long. But at those speeds your pretty high in the revs. 70 is a bit more comfortable, even 75 . Still revs are about 3500 or so there. So yes it can do 80 , shoot it'll run 90, but it won't be as comfortable as the bigger bikes with bigger motors, and 6 gears with different gearing. This bike does great on backroads. N with the ecu flash from Ivan is a dream. It has a long wheelbase so tight corner roads can be a bit of chore, but longer sweeper backroads are nice. If I were looking for a sole highway bike, I would choose this, I'd maybe go for the eluder , venture or even a stratoliner. My highway speeds tend to be 65 to 75. Thanks for watching.
To each their own. I love it how it is, on the cleaner side. Some don't, they like the badges. I thought they were tacky. That's with everything, you buy it n then personalize it for you. This video just shows how I've made the bike fit me over the years. It also dictates that you can go your own way.. and love it. Stay safe n ride safe.
Nice video but I was wondering is this a review on the bike or your A/V equipment? there’s no links to the stuff that you are reviewing I would love to know where I could find that seat.
The seat is from EDseatusa add a dot com to that . Other seats others like is the ultimate . Ed maker used to work for them. The audio info u can see in my Playlist section , I think under maintenance videos. Reckless fairing install. There I talk about the radio n speakers. I've since changed radio though to a jvc as the Kenwood had water damage.
Mustang seat great for shorter people like me 😄 I love my 2008 not a single issue. I could probably use new steering bearing and wheel bearings. Might flush the radiator soon. Buffeting is horrible I hate it. Only bad thing I can think of great video brother. And merry Christmas to you and your family
Merry Christmas to you and your family too brother. Yes the buffeting was annoying . lowers did help . The mustang seat, actually was a nicely designed seat, just yea pushed me way to far forward. I am only 5'11, so thought it wouldn't be that bad. Ah what ya gonna do.
Excellent review on your bike Bruce, you have definitely done a lot to it, you have made it you're own, Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you and your family brother, hopefully 2021 will be a better year for all 💯
Yes, we definitely have to fine tune our rides, ofcourse we could always do the ride it n swap it too. I wondered at times n times why some of us don't and some do. Lol. Just the great thing that makes us us.
also I find I'm getting like an almost grinding sound down low, when its cooler it aint so bad but on warmer days it gets louder almost like a windmill metal on metal sound hard to explain. Has anyone had this before? Once I pull the clutch and glide and start to slow down its quite prevalent.
I have been waiting for this review. I have been following you for years . Bought my 2013 vstar deluxe because of your earlier reviews. Did you make a video of wiring your rear lights? I want to do exactly what you have. At a minimum can I get parts list
I'll get back to you. Those are the custom dynamics rear inserts. They have to be wired into the the rear brake light .. which was a bit of a chore. That signal wire can only be accessed from the underside under the panel. I had a previous feed wire going under there which powers my other aux brake light. I never published the video, cause I got so mixed up installing it , it was just a wash. They do work great though...
@@dbest1aVlogs Thanks I appreciate any advise. I have been on their site. but not sure which parts to buy. did you have to change sockets for bulbs at all. I know not all bulb bases are the same. did you have to do anything special to avoid the fast blinking I have read about?
I have the fast blinking. I didn't do the resistance mod or change the relay. No special insert. They twist right in. But have to have the wires fed in through the assembly. Then spliced into the signals n the brake signal. I belive 2010 n after the signal is under the tail blue wire. Before 2010 is in the rear box behind the plate , blue wire. If my years are right.
Hey there! This is absolutely the best vstar 1300 related channel on YT man! I am the vstar 1300 tourer owner and was looking for the two things recently; the cobra slip on exhaust and the heated grips :) And guess what - I've found it right here :) Thank you for both videos! Anyway, I have 2 questions; I saw you've changed back the exhaust to stock, is it because the cobra sound was blowing the head off on the long distance rides? Secondly, are you happy with the Oxford heated grips? I'm gonna change mine next week, was thinking about the same model but with chrome controller. My only doubt is that the Oxfords look simply awful comparing them to the OEM. But yeah I know, here comes the look vs the serviceableness. But I am curious what your thoughts are about those heaters. Thank you in advance buddy, cheers! :)
The cobra exhaust wasn't too bad with noise, but that's only after I wrapped the pipe baffle in stove rope. Also I got a 2nd baffle from smartpartz. Not available any longer. This baffle helped me to reduce the noise while cruising down the road at 70+ . You loose a bit of top end omph though, but gain back some down low omph. So depends on where you spend your time, raving up high or moderate cruising. The issue, was the pipe was starting to bubble n rust. So I decided to sell it and for now go back to stock. The Oxford grips are great . - see the install videos in the maintenance playlis titled Oxford. Yes your right, they don't look the greatest , that I can't argue. I won't even try to deny lol. Now as for function, man they are amazing. They have come in handy on so many occasions when riding and things get a bit chilly. If where you live the Temps get cold , you will really appreciate them. At times my night commutes home can be a little chilly, and just 2 taps and it's just a little more comfort. Again I agree, not the best looking , but good lord they work amazing. Another time me and another vlogger Ncstoney (check his channel) were riding up the Blue Ridge parkwY . The Temps suddenly dropped and we hit rain. My fingers got cold n tap tap .... heated grips on. Ahhhh just a little relief went a long way till off Mt.Mitchell. Thanks for the kind words. It Is very much appreciated. Stay safe If you have any questions. Don't hesitate to ask. The channel is in Facebook too. See li k in description.
@@dbest1aVlogs bunch of thanks for your response! Yeah, I've already liked it in FB :) Regarding the cobras; most of my trips are around 300-400 km in one go, so not a very long ones. But in the summer time me & my friends are getting out for a longer all weekend trips, that is why I am kinda in to minds; to change the stock pipe or not to change it (well I can sell it if it will be two loud but I will lose the price I think.. not quite sure if this kind of experiment make sense). Acoordingly to grips - yeah the october in Poland is pretty chilly, I was hoping that my Rukka gloves with goretext and goregrip will handle the temp, but I was wrong :) Now it is the time for the Oxfords - thank you for your confirmation of it :)
@@deywo The Oxfords can help, but a heated glove liner will bring you a lot more comfort. Even a heated glove is a nice option for tbe cold times. Yes if you didn't like the cobra exhaust you could resell it. You woulf recoup most if not all of your money spent. There are always people looking. Ofcourse this does depend on how much you pay for it too. Hehe.
That's a beautiful VStar 1300 but listening to you talk about the lack of a sixth gear and knowing I want to run interstates 'about' 75 mph, I think I might be getting myself a Yamaha FJR1300. Different bike but a great high speed interstate runner. Still, that's a beautiful VStar.
Thank you. The bike has come a long way since I rolled it out the dealer. Still love it. Yes sometimes it just seems like an extra gear would be nice on highways. Would also some down the motor a little too. The flip side to that is...... I don't take the highway much.
i have the 2015 deluxe. I can't find the extra light bar. Where did you get it? Also, have you found any cheaper rear passenger floorboards? I can only find them for $300+ I would love to find an aftermarket rear trunk that I could have painted to match. Thanks.
When i got the light bar , I sourced it off of ebay n parts were very plentiful . Now a days maybe not so much . I'd maybe try ebay salvage shops , see if they will sell you the whole light set up with the wiring too. The trunk u may need a rack like , I think it's called wampus. Then just to find a top box. I had good luck with shad , but on the same token I could have lived with a sissy bar and tie on bag too. It's mainly taste. Fiyouwhat compliments your bike and you then go with that .
should be this one . I put it on a while ago . It is very bright , and anyone behind you will be fully aware of your intentions haha .. www.feniex.com/perimeter/t3
Dbest1a, 1st , Love your videos!! 2nd, I have basically the same exact bike as yours...mine(2008) as well as how you have it set up. I noticed you went back to the stock exhaust, just tired of louder pipes? 3rd, I am putting progressive shocks in my front as well hopefully I will notice a big difference. I also have the Ivan's flash (amazing) Ivan told me to remove the Cobra fi2000 which I did. But I put it back in and it is running even better and my fuel economy is around 48 around town and around 52 on Highway! V Star is a great bike, Love mine! Thanks again for the time you put into your videos! Great Job! Oh the Freedom shield I guess that's #4 LOL what is the height of it or the link where you got it please?
Hehe. Glad to see your enjoying your Vstar . The exhaust.. I've just grown tired of noise. Lately I'm finding , I don't want to rip and roar . I don't need pipes to turn heads. I just want to cruise , and enjoy the sights. I think the stock drilled baffles is more than enough noise for me. The only thing I miss is there was a little response loss in acceleration and feel. Less noise though. If I really want fast and quite ill go to a wing. So for now I'm fine with the drilled both ends stock. I can do a good 300 mile day with a lot less audio wear. The progressive fork springs are a great help. I like above 15wt oil with it. You can play with fluid height, and spacer length to mitigate response in the front end. To big of a spacer and get harsh bump hits in front. I think im running 2.7" spacer. Somewhere in that area. Then I played with fluid height to fine tune the ride. It's very time consuming due to bike design. The freedom shield I got from their website. Just throw a .net on the end. It is for the reckless fairing though. Which a copy of a older harley fairing. It's 10" in height, a little tall. Maybe could have gone 9, but it's fine. Works great. The shield is also the touring shield, so it's wider than normal. Hahaha. Oh man riding behind that thing is a dream.
Thanks for video. Nice bike. I bought a street glide some years back, but now looking for something less weight with bags and shield. Doesnt seem to be that much weight difference between this and the glide. Grrr. Anybody know a bike that is considerably less 750-800 lbs with bags and shield?
Thank you. Yes this bikes weight n the street glides weight are similar . The balance is also similar , but you would sit lower on the street glide. So that may give a bit of a different feel. There are other bikes that harley , honda, n maybe others offer that are a little lighter with bags. Just they come with a small wind deflector usually. I've leaned this bike over once a little too far n past a certain point your not getting it back up without stepping off. Lol. Lesson learned. Still love my yammy lol. Ride safe
Yeah , I made this review video a little longer and chat about some of the changes and why. Flash basically helped me with smoothness, and ride ability. The bike also tries to run a bit cooler, by letting the fan come on a little earlier. Along with deleting the throttle fuel cut.
So I’m thinking it’s a cobra breather. Would an open air breather be quieter? And perform as well? And did you have the breather before the flash? Wondering how much if a difference it made without the flash? Take care and thank.
The intake is a cobra power flo. Yes I had it before the flash . The bike ran horrible. I really contemplated trading it in. Then I read a fee early reviews when the flash came out. I rode down to Ivan n after a few questions I flashed the ecu. I've been I'm love ever since..
@@dbest1aVlogs Thank you. I’m now wondering if you think Ivan’s flash would give me the lower speed, low rpm ride qualities that I’m really looking for with out the breather upgrade? Don’t feel the need for more hp, or torque for that matter. Save a couple hundred bucks and I really don’t want to be listening to a breather either?
I notice on Ivan’s graphs that the torque and hp gains don’t seem to be impacted till around 3500 rpm. When I’m up there all is well. Guess the engine gets plenty of air slow rpm.
It does smooth out the low end a bit. See some of my vlog riding videos. It will give you an idea. It does help you to be able to cruise around a bit easier. I'm sure changes could be made without the flash to help, but this was the best option for me. Currently I have 43k on the bike and enjoy it a lot. I do have an urge to try something different though. Hard to fight that feeling after a while.
I do have mileage logged, but I dont go by that to check. I just kneel down and check the pads thickness. Rear brake pad at 21,500 Front brake pad at about 25k maybe ... don't have it jotted.
Check out Ivans website. www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/vstar13.htm He gives a comprehensive break down of the flash, and what it entails. You can also see his in-house dyno sheets too.

I'd check tires for dry rot ... cracks in the tread. Use it to bargain off another 500 to 600. I'd probably try to offer around 6500 anyway. You could also check motorcycle kbb too. My high with old tires maybe 6700 to 6800.

I have thought of a 2nd bike a few times bro. I still have my Buell, which I guess I'm gonna part out. I have always wanted a Buell xb9 in blue as a collector. I have considered a vstar 1100 as a naked cruiser. I've been lately considering a yamaha raider... as a 2nd bike for nice hot weather riding. If I'll entertain that is interesting... lol. There is a possibility. Time for me is still a limitation, so that's kind of why I haven't chased more the more than 1 bike option. Still right now the raider is high on my list to consider. I like ... motor size .. seating position.. raw look.. possibility of customizing.. (a little)
I have the 2013 Deluxe and don't ride it much. It has a little over 5K miles, and the only mod I did was a slip on exhaust to give it more rumble. The Vstars are great bikes...I've owned three including two 1300's and a 950...no complaints. It seems like you put way too much dough in this bike...maybe you should have purchased the new venture with all the goodies.
I think in life we all make our decisions. The more important part is that we are "happy". See if we aren't happy then what do we want to do .... Move on ... right. I , humbly, invite you to check out 1. My earlier Buell Blast Videos ... 2. My test Ride playlist. That will show you where I have been , and what I have ridden. Then now realize that I am still here .... enjoying the Vstar 1300 with 42,000 miles. Which Let me remind you .... isn't a lot of miles. Not at all. See I am happy with my 1300, and just not ready to move on. I like, and respect the elder/Venture, but they just aren't for me at this moment. Maybe it is for you . Like I said .. I am happy hence the review video.
Yes you have to be happy. I wasn't before the flash though, I always tell people that. Don't get me wrong a new bike would be great, but not $$ feasible for me at the current time . Still the ecu flash made this bike such a joy to cruise on back roads, and carve the mild twisties. I just haven't even let the thought of selling cross my mind. I actually thought I might regret that move in all honesty. Hope you have a merry Christmas also. God bless and ride safe ..

I'm past getting the latest & greatest.. Actually I am very satisfied to have bikes that are setup exactly as I want them, do what I need them too and not to mention.. payed for 😉... Seems like you're there with this VStar
You are 1000% right. I fully agree and understand.
Not to mention some of these new bikes have too much electronics for my tastes.

Had a Xvs 1300 4yrs best bike I’ve owned
Gotta love em .
Thanks for watching
Excellent video. I just bought the same year model with only 8000 miles and I am looking forward to years of reliable riding
Congrats. The bike is very reliable n capable. It's has its flaws n it's strengths. I'm a big believer in the flash. Especially if you will be keeping longer than 2 years.
Great Review Bruce! You made the bike your own and it's one of the best 1300s I've seen!
Thank you very much for taking the time to check it out . haha . You know we get some into our vehicles bro, and it's hard to even think about parting ways.
Hope your having a great christmas with the family .
Great video! My 2007 1300 is still my all time favorite motorcycle. Take care.
Thank you, Love that yours is still running strong. Happy holidays.
@@dbest1aVlogs Same to you!
I remember when you got her, it was my first year as a rider. I'm glad she's been good to ya. Why do bike manufacturers use planks for seats?! That's infuriating. She looks great, wishing you many more miles of smiles!
Yea its treated me very well. I can't complain. Hoping for a nice riding season upcoming.
Great video, I just bought a 2013 Vstar Classic 650 for my learners bike. Love it but will jump up to a bigger cc bike in a couple of years.
Every yamaha product i have is rock solid reliable. From my bikes to my guitar, rock solid.
That's the beautiful thing about yamaha. They ate built damn near to perfection..
Thank you for watching.

Surprised to hear that about the seat. I’m watching a bunch of reviews right now bc I’m going to look at an 07 1300 tomorrow and most people talk about how much they love the stock seat.
Good, thorough review though. I’ll just have to see how it feels for myself tomorrow lol
Well I will say every behind is manufactured different haha.. I hated it from the day of purchase.
Very detailed review Bruce! On my '07 VTX, I used the heel shifter all the time..lol! Oh yeah, to keep yourself in the good graces of the wifey, you don't use the top case because she brings more stuff, rather it is to give her a backrest!
Lol, very true lol.
Happy holidays
Lol
😅😂😂😂
I really like the Japanese cruisers. They are great bikes.Great honest review. Take care and stay well.
What can you tell us about maintenance? I’m looking at a used 1300 but I really don’t want to fool with valve adjustment.
Thanks for watching , happy holidays
what bike did you end up getting
Thanks for the nice review.
I have a 2007 Touring with 49000 on but
It apparently is badly overdue for rear wheel and rear belt pulley R&R.
Jim
Congrats. Be sure to check and address rear bearings I needed also
Sounds like a good bike but run for improvement in areas . Luckily you have lots of options available from different suppliers to make it personalized to your own taste.
Yes a very good bike in it's price range. Now a days these parts may be a bit tough to find, but in the last few years not so much. It's possible to find parts though, just have to give a decent search. The factory parts are easy.
Love the bike.
Keep the videos coming. Very informative
I just purchased a 2013 1300 tourer deluxe.
Thank you , and congratulations on your purchase. Wishing you tons of safe and joyful miles.
Great review. I have a 2012 Yamaha 950. Really like the bike. Yamaha makes good quality products.
Your 100% right . Great products. Thankfully no issues so far and have enjoyed the bike a lot.stay safe and enjoy plenty of miles . Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the review Bruce, Always wondered if you had done the Flash. Toying with the idea now.
Yes , and it wasthe turning point which made me keep this bike. Big time.
OMG, 42000 miles.. congrats, great review
Yes, would have been more if not for being of 2020 sickness. I didn't take it out much till about July.

Hehe
Good review. I have a Honda Areo and had the same problems. I agree with the ECU flash, except mine is still under warranty.
Thanks for watching. Hope you are enjoying yours
Thanks!
Hmm thought I put a link to Ivan's site in the description, but checked and I didn't.
Here ya go

Thanks!
Hey, Really enjoy your reviews. I went down on my VStar. Which is like yours. My faring is damaged and needs fiberglass work. I see you installed a different faring can you tell me where you ordered it. Thanks
I ordered it from reckless fairing..
Are the handbars different to the VS1300 Classic? I'm trying to source disks and pads but proving difficult.
Lol.
Thanks for the reply. I can see where a K and N with add holes drilled would be beneficial and the flash is a must.@@dbest1aVlogs
Where did you buy the flashing brake light no
Got that a few years ago. Phoenix I think. 3 led light.
Have a 2009. Really enjoy mine. Great bike. Good review. Be safe. God bless
Thanks. Enjoy and be safe. Bikes are hard to beat for what they offer.
Nice video. I found it interesting about your comments regarding the fairing. I was wondering what luggage rack did you get for the SHAD top box?
The luggage rack I got off a buddy when he was selling his vstar. I've never been able to locate another.
De-badging hurts the brand. Show the love and keep them on.
Comprehensive review. Nice job bro!

@@dbest1aVlogs AMEN brother 💯
also I find I'm getting like an almost grinding sound down low, when its cooler it aint so bad but on warmer days it gets louder almost like a windmill metal on metal sound hard to explain.
Stay safe
If you have any questions.
Hehe.
@@dbest1aVlogs thank you for your reponse, did you buy brand new cobras? Or used ones? How come they got bubbles and rust so quickly?
It was a used pipe. Not sure About the rust, but I think others had same issue
Beautiful bikes , but I immediately saw the fairing as skimpy. I have a Reckless on my Nomad and love it.
Yes , I love the Reckless. Thanks for watching.
Are you able to make a list with links for your upgrades?
Where did you buy the third brake light
should be this one .

I would like to know where did you purchase your accessories. I also have a vstar 1300.
Some online , some on ebay. Thanks for watching
I have a little trailer i pull behind mine, good space for camping stuff
That must be great. It would be something I wouldn't mind for longer trips.
Ride safe
Have you done Ivan’s ecu flash on your v star 1300?
Yes I did mention that in this video.
@@dbest1aVlogs that’s great man, I didn’t see the whole video. lol
Best thing you can do on these bikes.
As usual great vid

Do you pass emissions inspection after the Ivan Flash?
we don't do emissions in ny . but it shouldn't have an issue
Hey Bruce, I have exact same bike. Curious on what mileage you did the break pads at?
I do have mileage logged, but I dont go by that to check. I just kneel down and check the pads thickness.
Rear brake pad at 21,500
Front brake pad at about 25k maybe ... don't have it jotted.
Do you know the TPS reading ? just installed a new TPS and not exactly happy with it
I have seen that setting in the service manual before. I believe either by the valve adjustment section , or the throttle body sync section.
What exactly is a ecu flash? I have a 2007 and having some throttle issues it wants to die during idle once it is warmed up.
Check out Ivans website.

(a little)
Nice review bro. It is indeed a very sexy bike 👍
Thank you brother , happy holidays
@@dbest1aVlogs you to brother. Merry Christmas 🎄🎄❄️
I T totally agree with you about the Gear🤦🏾♂️
I have the 2013 Deluxe and don't ride it much. It has a little over 5K miles, and the only mod I did was a slip on exhaust to give it more rumble. The Vstars are great bikes...I've owned three including two 1300's and a 950...no complaints. It seems like you put way too much dough in this bike...maybe you should have purchased the new venture with all the goodies.
I think in life we all make our decisions. The more important part is that we are "happy". See if we aren't happy then what do we want to do .... Move on ... right.
I , humbly, invite you to check out
@@dbest1aVlogs Well said, my man...if your happy than that's what counts...have a Merry Christmas!
You should invest in some soft lowers... for some those chilly mornings and days. Nice bike!
I have some . they are ok .
I took my 07' Vstar 1300 from CT to California and back! Let me tell you, that stock seat was BAD. By the time I've reached Wichita I had no desire to sit back down haha
Hehehe, yessss its bad. Shoot you made it much further than I ... Thankfully we have some options.
My wife would kill me if I came up with all these excuses to upgrade
Lmao. You need to start intercepting the packages to score the touchdowns.
Hey getting ready to buy a 12’ 1300 love the lights your running on the front where’d you get them also could you tell where the guy you used to flash the ecu is located. Thanks
The flash , is from Ivan motorsports.
The lights are stock paying lamps.
