  • Replacing the seals on the brake booster vacuum pump and the power steering pump on a 2006 Saab 9-3 with a 2.0t engine. Both of these pumps are powered by a cam shaft and therefore oil can leak through the seals at the connection to the engine.

Good video .. and i thought i have silicone grease addiction 😂😂
By the way, thats not a defect in the seal, thats the mark left by the grove in the cylinder head, if u looked at the cylinder head u will know whats im talking about .. but great video

Just wondering why you completely torqued one bolt first on the air pump, i thought you are supposed to torque them back and forth evenly to ensure the gasket goes in evenly? It may not matter but i will be attempting this tomorrow and just want to do it correctly

What size o-ring gasket or part number did you use for the connection between the power steering pump and reservoir? Thanks for the video. I plan on doing the same thing for my Saab!

I don't have a torque wrench lol how tight is gotta be? I usually go spark plug tight not over the top but definitely not finger tight. I think main thing is not stripping internal threads and to provide sufficient compression to make the gaskets effective. Great video I will use this to work on my own Saab no doubt 👍🏻😂

Great video, good tutorial. Just one question can bad vacuum pump or bad sealing from vacuum pump be causing enginge code p0101? Thanks in advance for answer. Best regards

@On The Workbench why didn't you mention what torque you tighten the screws with? I'm sure this information would be useful to everyone

Hi, thanks for your video. I am planning to do the job myself and your video will definetely make it easier for me. I have the set of gaskets together with the o-ring which is inside the pump. I read the o-ring is also the reason of the leak often so I will change it as well. The only thing I am wondering. Do you happen to know is there some suggested tightening torque for those torx screws which hold the two parts of the pump together? I think it is also important to not overtighten or undertighten it.

I noticed on the outer seal of the power steering pump it had the bump. The replacement seal was flat. You mention this. The engine has a depression where it looks like the bump fits into. Can you reply please

Roger that. Thank you. I know this gasket change was a long time ago, But did you encounter two seals attached to the reservoir and the pump? My reservoir tank had a smaller seal that was part of your replacement and a larger diameter seal that rested on the back of the connection of the reservoir tank.

On the brake booster pump, if I'm a dummy and didn't use a torque wrench, and potentially overtightened, how would I know and what would be the consequences?
