Messrs Hype and Hyper D were on fire that night. There was no synchronise button in those days, kids. Hype demonstrated his talents, most notable when the needle jumped during R-Type, where he cut and scratched the hi-hat as if it were intentional. Hype proceeded with a double rewind and then teased the crowd with at least three tunes, 31 seconds et al, whilst another tune played. Meanwhile, the grand master of ceremonies, Sir Hyper D, dropped versatile lyrics - the crowd were putty in his hands
Me n my mate bin rinsin this set for 20 years and it never gets old! Still got the tape!! I think hype was at his best in these days, alongside the very best mc ever😍
Oh man. Just found this. I was there back in the day when raves were raves not like now. So many memories listening to this. RIP Hyper D. You made the early '90's for me. And Hype. You da man. HAAAAPLA
Ye no I phones or social mediums loved them days proper raving everyone came to Brock out and nothing less I took 7 pills and 2 grams of bass at this night omg what a fucking night now every fucked stands round with their phones trying to capture the moment instead of living it 95-98 The golden years dnb ain't been the same since Stevie sadly passed away
That’s when raving was raving not like the staged shit you get today....all that crouching down when the mc tells you to shit.....we used to turn up take as many pills as ya could get down ya and dance till the last tune finished, same again the next week
Stevie Hyper D is the actual definition of a Junglist - such a rude boy dappa don, but at the same time the kindest, most lovely person you could meet. Anyone worth their salt in Drums knows this. Some will never get it. LISTEN to his lyrics and look at his photo with Fearless. "Big up miself, big up mi chest, I'm the best, I'm nottin' less, big up all people inside my flex, from the front to the back to the right to the left, east, nort', sout', wes', I want to see your brightness, maximum respect." ;) Cha rude boy. I love how you call it a party not a rave, them days must of been 10x better! Hyper d is my fav by far and I was born the year he died:( he must of been a proper entertainer only wish I could of seen the legend himself, today's raves are shite just a bunch of people on phones, no love anymore.

Spot on! The current MC were inspired. Evil B has lyrics about the very thing you spoke about, talking about how he looked up to Hyper D. Rude FM and Rinse FM's MCs were massively influenced by him. Even Skibadee and Shabba D looked up to him when they weren't headlining big raves in 1994. I remember seeing Shabba's face at Telepathy in 1994 when Hyper D rinsed out. Inspirational MC to them all! Rest in peace.
Inspired but failing after 2005. Det is still det same raga twins but shaba n skiba ain't the same. Don't hear enough of ic3 n moose navy have disappeared that was the era

A legend at the raves and on the FM dial. As good on radio as the raves. He had a mixed bag of styles and interacted with crowd. Simply the best. I have tons of his shows on our channel.
Year I was born!! No mc compares to hyper d in my eyes!! Wish I could have seen the legend himself, big up stevie one love to the original junglists and ravers
The era of dnb before i was around. I was 5 when this set was out and it's fucking massive at nearly 20 still. Glad Nicky black market still drops a few bangers from this era at raves. Rip stevie hyper d
I was 4 when he died, didn't even know who he was then but tonnes of respect for the man, paved the way for other mcs, represented jungle through and through
God damn, 500 words is not enough space. Continuing from my last post; at the time of this recording, Hyper D's status and respect was taking an exponential trajectory. Performing at all the major raves up and down the country, Stevie's innovative vocal skills, through word of mouth and mix tapes [yes tapes], started to get acknowledged by a worldwide audience. Stevie was at the height of his career when the drum and bass scene took a profound shock after learning of Stevie's passing.
When Hyper D rocked up this night we were upstairs @ the sanctuary and When we heard 'Junglists are you ready' I was like Usain bolt down to the main arena and the night was to begin..One of the best raves ever went to Hyper D,Det,Skibadee just tearing the place apart.
That mix with them rhymes, Mix top draw, Hyper in another league and as always Hyper knew when to roll and when to let the mix do the talking, true legend and always about the happy vibes, i don't think there was ever a dj who got lined up with hyper d and knew that he'd take things to another level, only Bassman, Fearless and Dett come close to that level
Classic mixing skills by Hype, scratching & tearing up the beats & bass!!! Sadly I can never appreciate digital mixing and new school try-to-be's in comparison to the legends. Still some super great chunes being produced though :-)
Yes I do! I remember MC Mystery Major of Rinse FM 91.8 down there. His style was massively influenced by Hyper D. Great nights down there. Miss that venue and those raves.
Timberland. They really do make fantastic clothes. I had a few hoodies made by them, they never ripped or shrunk, always looked good. I miss those days. I used to have a pair of millennium rockports.
What would the scene be like today if he was alive? I left the jungle DnB scene years ago because of the transition of the shit MC's today, UNCZ bollocks, bring back the days when skiba and det were good, when hyper would smash everything the B2B's with MCMC, Fearless, Riddla!!!
