    Hello, how do you address the thermal aspect of steel? Things like thermal bridges for the envelope or the coldness of steel interior surfaces.

    have you ever done a set of plans for a steel residential home? I am curious about how a steel plan set differentiates between a wood house.

    Nice video. Learned a lot about steel and its uses. Would have been nice if you discussed a little bit about costs vs using wood or other materials for use in the same instances. How much is steel vs wood beams for instance....

    Wouldn’t using steel as finishing on the wall behind the kitchen table be risky as steel heats up easily and might become hot when the stove is used for a long time?

    Have you ever consider mash production on pre-fabricated steel housing? there are great demand on this type of structures, ( like CA recent fire) those houses need rebuild, I hope it will not rebuild with wood.We want to be part of the Developers/Builders/Financial support on this type of projects. please write to us. thank you.

    My neighbor used corrugated steel for his siding and it makes a lot of noise when the sun hits it.

    what about costs vs. the alternatives?

  • @richardsprow3418
    @richardsprow3418 5 лет назад

    Yes, but- from the time it’s made steel wants to oxidize, so exterior steel needs to be protected forever, and a designer needs to think about all that repainting. Corten is nice, but is expensive, not available in all shapes, and needs careful detailing for the brown rust that flows off it. Take a cruise ship, and you’ll see the crew painting some of the exterior steel every day. Steel windows were popular in the 1920s-30s but went out of use because they were hard to maintain. Steel expands when it rusts and needs to be protected, even inside masonry or concrete. I think we owe it to users of out architecture to think beyond the first few years.

    (Except the weird American measurements nobody else in the world uses. You would be so kind to provide proper ones maybe just as subtitles in the next? Thanks a lot!)
