Hi, you and I talk the same talk. We made the move in 2004 after taking early retirement from stressful jobs. Moved to a small village inland to the province of Jaén. A completely different life up there with more olive trees than people. Stayed there for 15-years and loved every day of it. However, older age approaching we decided to move to our winter escape property in Torrox Pueblo, to the east of Malaga Province. Again, mostly agricultural in nature and a traditional village of some 4,000 mixed nationality residents. Just 10 minutes from the coast, an hour on the bus to Malaga, extremely slow pace of life. We’ll end our days here. Thoroughly enjoyed your vlog.
@ hola, I guess you probably already know that Jaén is one of the inland Provinces of Malaga. It’s a huge area with the city of Jaén being its capital. The city itself is expanding in population as towns and villages lost theirs. Numerically it’s one of the least populated provinces in Spain. The city itself is like all cities and having a University brings many nationalities. We lived about 90-minutes from the capital in a small village. When we moved there in 2004 there was a shop, couple of bars and weekly GP service. When we sold up and left in 2015 these had all closed. The nearest fully serviced town was Alcalá La Real, around 15K away. Our reasons for leaving our beautiful reformed casa was in preparation for old, old age when we would be in need of services, shops, facilities, health centre, etc., etc. we now live in a village/pueblo an hour east of Malaga city. It has all services, our house is on the flat, 24-hour health centre, and so on. The population is around 4,000 and growing. Being further south the winter months are warmer - no snow or iced up windscreen in the mornings. We actually used to spend our winter months here for some years. Hope this gives you food for thought but feel free to ask anything. Regards.
Good on you both Shaun. It was a brave step you both took 9 years ago and it paid off in the end. Well done. Wishing you both a Merry Christmas, cheers 🎄

Thank you Keith, glad you enjoyed the video. I'm a resident now, stay as long as I like but as a non resident, only 90 days, 90 days away and then you can stay another 90 days, some enjoy the best of two worlds
Thank you Jennie, if you're under pension age, you can pay into the Spanish health system depending on where you live. Pension age, you use your S1 (NHS) for health care. I had a new hip (£15,000) not paid for. You need to ask expert for more information about healthcare if moving to Spain.
Typical of English people, the vast majority may have been living in Spain for 10, 20 or even 30 years like some I know and they don't speak any Spanish. I expelled you from the country for not making the slightest effort to adapt.
9 years in Spain! and it's still sunny

Great weather there today I’m jealous. Do you have to pay for your healthcare or can you use their NHS now ?
