Had mine for a little over a month now. Love it! One thing though... Get the dealership, or yourself to put a decent set of mudflaps on it. It loves chucking mud and rocks up the side of the truck. Fills the door handles and it's annoying. Not sure if the Bison has this problem or not with its bigger flares.
I love this truck. I am both sad to see it get refreshed next year but also excited to see the changes they will make. This truck has been nearly the same since I was in high school!
The interior is grossly outdated, but that’s the consistent theme for the entire mid-size segment. Even the newest refresh - Nissan Frontier is no better with a slightly larger media screen. Looking forward to the refresh & for people saying these cost the same as a full-size; they absolutely do not. My local dealer is selling these for $44K while a Silverado in basic trim is in the low $50s. These ZR2s just need 33” tires to be proportionate & that’s an easy fix with a front 1.5” level. Next, do a bit of de-badging if you have the faux chrome Colorado emblems & grab the desert tan color … all set.
I have one 2020 but I’m doing a v8 lt4 swap but I’m still waiting for the lt4 engine is been delay I love the zr2 so bad I change those shocks and I put 2.5 fox better suspension with fox 3.0 bump stop
Chevy's really stepping up their game as of late... The 3.6L V6 sounds kinda muscular. Sidesteps would be a cool addition, I think. It would be interesting to know how the leaf springs/advanced shocks combo compares to a 5-link coil suspension.
I'm 5'8" and side steps were a must as I sprained my ankle the 1st weekend I had this dropping down out of it. And I'm not lying..purple ankle and all lol. The springs are a little clunky...I added some rubber pads between them and much quieter now
This is better than the Silverado ZR2. You get more bang for your buck. The only thing Silverado has is that 6.2L. With Colorado you get a wider track, diesel option, standard rock sliders, rear bumper step delete, it's smaller, lighter, and far cheaper. This is more than a tricked out Trailboss.
The Colorado’s bed is only 1.7 inches longer than the Jeep Gladiator in this configuration and is just a little wider due to the Gladiator being a narrow truck. So I don’t feel like the Colorado has a very big edge on the Gladiator in bed space, but definitely not in off-roading.
Ext cab has a 6' 2" bed and is the lightest of the ZR2's, same 128" wheel base. ZR2 has better break over, Gladiator is easier to put taller tires on, both are nice trucks.
This truck ticks a lot of the right boxes, but it also misses some for the lack of updates over the past 5 years its been in production. I get a lot of positive complements on the looks, especially the exterior. The interior tho is lacking in so many ways. Especially form and function. I really like my ZR2, but I definitely dont love it. Hopefully the upcoming all new 2023 Colorado ZR2, and Canyon AT4X really bring it to the market. Especially with the possibility of the new Ford Ranger Raptor finally making its way to the U.S market. It'll definitely be exciting.
Push to start is the same concept as a key. I find it annoying putting a fob in my pocket or remembering to grab it from the center console. Keys have never bothered anyone. The zr2 has to much annoying tech that 1% of buyers will actually use..K.I.S.S.
@@Slingin_Bait I pointed that out because virtually every new vehicle has a push button start. I use to say the same thing as you until I got a vehicle with it. So much better 😂
Where are the paddleshift and the big touchscreen that it should have, has Geberal Motor forgot we are living in a modern and technological era?. I do not like that colorado ZR2, because it has a eqipped with bad interior material without a big touchscreen in the cluster and centrale console. Thank you. Dr. Luis Amador.
They're not to bad. The bottom part of the seat is nice and plush, but the back is a bit on the stiff side, and doesn't have much rake to it. Id say its ok, but not great. Definitely not a place to be on long trips. Hope that's helpful.
No mention of the 4 auto capabilities which is a great advantage over standard transfer cases. Also no rock railers on the truck is curious. Don't have the Bose sound system either which explains why the price is lower than expected

Not true I have been driving Chevys since 1970 have had good luck with all of them and the dealership has great service and trustworthy as well so you must be a blue oval pusher found on road dead
I have a 22 ZR2, V6 8 speed auto, great truck. I like the fact that it doesn't have all the electronic crap in it! Great review.
Normally a Ram guy but those Colorado’s are sweet looking extremely functional trucks I’d love as a daily driver, another Great Ben Hardy Review 💯💯🔥🔥
Best car reviewer! Tells you all the things you wanna know.

Not sure why these don’t sell as much?
Seems like a super solid deal for what you get.
It's as much as a full size Silverado with and outdated interrior, that's probably why it's not as popular.
It was love at first sight for me though.
I love this truck. I am both sad to see it get refreshed next year but also excited to see the changes they will make. This truck has been nearly the same since I was in high school!
the front tow hooks are angled down to make it easier to get a hook into them,, the angle provides extra clearance
The V6 has a lot of pep in its step I love it
I have the 22 also.
Bison and love it. It’s my 3rd ZR2 and 1st bison.

Not sure but the Ridgeline should be quick too, and Sante Fe.
This truck is so bad ass!
Can we get Colorado ZR2 compared to Silverado ZR2
I believe you maybe able to buy 2 Colorado zr2s for the price of a Silverado zr2 if you search hard enough lol
@@B86432 I know but I’d just like to see the difference not really a buy this or that just comparing a midsize off-roader to a full size
no rear bumper steps ???
Sadly, you have to get leather just to get a rear arm rest on the updated version…wtf GM.

Looks like they finally changed the shifter design for the 22s. Everything else looks the same as the 21
Could you do a direct comparison on the dssv shocks vs jeep gladiator mojave? or do you think the fox shocks are better?

zr2 fits in a garage gladiator does not
The only Chevy pickup that at least is worthy of competing with a raptor despite its size
@Bulls Nation zr2 Silverado is a cash grab it cannot compare to a f150 raptor or trx

No push to start on the top of the line model?

I had one last year, great trucks
Hey Ben do you think you could do another hellcat red eye
I've read that the automatic transmissions on these shudder and break.
@@2011buddylee Thanks!
Over 4 years, almost 80k on mine with 0 issues. I had the transmission flushed and Trifecta tune from early on. Great trucks
Those are the earlier production Canyons & Colorados.
I like this over the Ford Ranger but no push button start?
What's wrong with a key? Go buy a Tesla if you want a space ship.😋
@@Slingin_Bait I pointed that out because virtually every new vehicle has a push button start. I use to say the same thing as you until I got a vehicle with it. So much better 😂
Agree - should have push button start in 2022. Not a deal breaker, but would be nice.

Dealer hasn't installed the rock sliders yet.
@@madcratebuilder Thanks for the reply
Some late 22's shipped without rock rails, credit on invoice.
Great, another on road test while talking about the off-road capabilities.
looks rough thanks Ben
