Most of the IFB churches up here are like that. Can confirm, Troy NY is definitely hillbilly territory. The churches are all connected as well. Good ol boys club
I mean I'm not an IFB kind of Christian I much prefer London 1689 types of Baptists...but a flame thrower is a flame thrower...I'd shout 'HAYMAN!!!" all night long if I got to go home with one...just saying
Well sadly just like people change the definition of words So has the definition of "Old Time Religion" been changed When I was young it was Church Worship and Service centered around JESUS As the head of of Church "in spirit and in truth" John 4:24 Today what is commonly referred to as "Old Time Religion" is anything not "Contemporary " Worship with the mouth but not the heart Matthew 15:8 Today it,s primarily centered on self Now not all Independent Baptist Churches and Pastors, Evangelist, Missionaries,and Singing Groups are like this There are some where JESUS is still given preeminence but today the Majority are It used to be the opposite but those days are gone.
