    My first motorcycle was a 1994 yamaha XT350, bought used back in 2008.
    With the help of it, I completed high school, University and my first working years.
    I have further meet my wife on top of it, and travelled extensively trough Europe.
    It currently has 288.000 kms, with 2 engine repairs.

    98% of my riding with a 2011 XT250 is done on gravel back roads which sometimes intersect with highways. The XT250 tops out at around 50-55 mph which just doesn't cut it with vehicular traffic. Not wanting a big, heavy 650, I picked up a well-cared for '87 XT350 about a month ago. It was adult-owned with only 3400 miles( that reads three thousand, four hundred miles) on it and no signs of it ever being off the road. I'm looking forward to seeing what it'll do on the highway when the time comes.

    My first enduro, I had a 98 though. It was a great bike that never gave me ANY problems. Super nimble and light but the suspension sucked for any real offroading. On the street though, it was fun and goid around town. I rode it almost everyday to work and school over a year. Sold it for a XR650R that was plated

    • @ddhh6552

      I still have an xt350 and you are correct. The suspension sucks. Don't try any big jumps. It bottoms out on the small ones.

    I have a 93 xt350 I bought about 6 years ago, ran like crazy initially, brought it to a local Yamaha dealership I trust, they tuned the carb. Said someone had messed with it and it had the wrong size jets in it, and they did a leak test on the valves and said everything was good. A lot of clatter noise in the right front cover, always suspected valves needed to be adjusted. Bike would only do about 50mph and didn't have any low end torque. Let my father drive the bike for 2 months and it quit on him, doesn't have any compression and has been off the road ever since. Bike had about 9k on it

    Mine is a 97 and it has never been able to do 90 lol. It revs out at around 80. It is a fun ride from the city to the trail and back but I don't like the highway. Fun little bike but not for jumping at all.

    • @markbest5127
      @markbest5127 2 года назад

      Mine would do over 90, and correct, horrible jumper. the kickstand bounces on landing and his the kill switch causing it to stutter on landing.

    • @apodski
      @apodski Год назад

      Don't need the kickstand switch, the wires are male and females specifically so you can bypass it. I have mx suspension front and rear on mine. I do plenty of huge jumps kickstand stays up fine.

    • @ddhh6552
      @ddhh6552 Год назад

      @apodski Which suspension parts did you go with. I heard the xt600 rear shock helps, but what did you use on the front?

    • @apodski
      @apodski Год назад

      @@ddhh6552 I used a 2014 raptor 700r se shock. Hi/low compression. Was only $125 through Yamaha parts channels. Mounting bolts are the same size. I had to cut off the reservoir and thread it with ORB fittings. Then ran a stainless hose to under the left side panel. You have to grind the linkage stop a little bit to permit more travel. This setup would need resprung for most people, but I weigh 155 lbs.
      Front end is 2001 yz125. Steering stops work without modification. I shrunk-fit a top bearing sleeve to the stem, machined it down. Made a ~3/4" thick aluminum spacer on top of the top dust cap. Also used a spacer to go underneath the top bearing cup in the frame. I used the "all balls" fork conversion chart to find suitable bearings.

    • @apodski
      @apodski Год назад

      @@ddhh6552 It rides very well. Weirdly, it made it perfectly stable at 65 mph too, despite being 3 or 4 inches taller. I trimmed some weight down by converting to led lighting, and I think it's about as good as it gets for a dual sport.
      The rear drum works sufficiently, but would be nice to convert to disk brake and aluminum swing arm to save 5 lbs.
      There is a video of it on my channel.

      My friend aka Uncle Dale was followed out of the Target store after paying cash $600 for his purchase buy a scumbag Lowlife who pulled a gun on him and pointed it right in his face and told him give him the billfold or he was going to blow his head off.
      Uncle Dale reached in his pocket like you was grabbing the money and actually grabbed his 25 caliber handgun his grandfather gave him and shot the thief in the cock and balls when he fell to the ground he stomped his face in with his Chippewa boots... it's a tough world we live in dog eat dog. If he did not have his handgun for protection he would be a dead broke man. He's fine in a judge agreed that he did nothing wrong it was self-defense however the perpetrator is now a eunuch with no testicles and lucky to be alive. I'm not sure if you watch the news much but it's getting crazy out there and some of the area's I go to without a handgun would be pretty risky.

I live in Sweden and here we have much harder weapon restrictions. it starting to get worse and worse here to. in that situation I rather have a gun then not have.
