I bought the exact same bike new back in 1988, it was almost impossible to find a 350. It was before the internet so after lots of phone calls and networking I found one in Lancaster PA and drove from NJ to get it. 80’s memories
My mates dad had one in the day . We would all swap bikes through the day. I loved it, it was like riding on comfy armchair 😂 what a machine. Great video as always guys 👌
If you open the throttle all the way twice before you kick it over it will engage the decompression switch and it’s much easier to kick over. I own one
I've always loved 4 stroke enduros . That is one gorgeous high quality bike. Yamaha makes great and reliable bikes. I've owned a few. That bike looks new out of the crate. It won't be for sale long. Somebody is gonna buy it very quickly.
Nice! I bought one of these new in '88 at the post exchange when I was stationed in Germany. I rode it on the autobahn, and would do about 95mph without headwind or hills. I still have it, it was neglected for many years so it looks like hell...dirt, rust, UV damage, but...aside from cosmetics and in need of a carb rebuild, the engine is still solid.
I bought a 85 model. Its no museum piece but its only 2 owners and 4,500 original miles. All I did was stage 2 jets and an oversize tank. I use it for commuting for school and rides in the mountains.
Race Tech heavier springs ($100)and 20wt fork oil cure the serious nose dive under hard braking and remove the tendency to dive into corners. YSS shock fixes the rear. I just found a new, no longer offered Seat Concepts foam and cover kit at a shop in Austrailia that made the tolerable seat much more comfortable still. Stock 55T rear sprocket replaced with a 47T, raises gearing to lower top gear RPM by 800. Those mods turned a great bike into a lifelong keeper. I'll be sourcing a 2nd motor, building it and storing it just in case I ever wear this one out. Pretty sure an afternoon and a 6 pack of Giunness would get the new motor in. I've owned a LOT of dual sports over the years, but this XT350 is my favorite.
Absolutely beautiful❤ an absolutely great long distance bike Ken watching all your videos so far your job is the bes❤t Ronnie great job❤ Kaplan Cycles number one God Bless America New England Motorcycle Museum
I put a ridiculous mileage on an XT 350. Thrashed it off road, on road, toured, two up, you name it. Never missed a beat. Ah, I lie. It split a carb hose which was a pig to find but easy to fix. Brilliant bike to live with, having a lie down never bothered it nor did burying it up to the tank in a peat bog.
Just bought the 2000 version of this bike and working on getting it sealed up and cleaned up! Any advice on what carb kit to buy? Im looking to clean/ rebuild the carb and want to make sure I buy a decent kit online
I knew very little about this bike untill recently. I've been shopping for a used DRZ400 and a neighbor just offered up his XT 350. Lightweight four stroke with six gears. Dual sport is exactly what I'm looking for. I think it's a 91 with the blue, white and pink paint. It's in much worse shape than yours, but for $600 I'm considering the project. Wondering how much money you put into your rebuild on that one knowing that I will have to sink probably more than my investment in bringing it up to mid to upper operating condition. Thanks for your video.
Mint! Now you need a matching TT350! Also happened to be my first bike.
Hard pressed to find one this nice and original. Great museum piece!

Been a long time since I've seen a video of an XT350 at the museum, one of my all time favorite motorcycles
What model/formula of VP do you use in a bike with some age on it and stock cylinder and head?

Ken, what boots do you wear in your harley videos? Thanks
Do you have a 1985 Eliminator on display ?
is it available for sale?
You should look for a XT600! I had a 1984 XT600 and that thing rivaled my 2022 XR650L!
I wish Yamaha would bring this back
There is xt 250's not 350's though

Dr350 was produced for less years then the xt350 but are more common for some reason.
It's because the DR's were better in every way and so that's what people purchased.
I have in yellow black great bike
