I had exactly one such, and i love it, except, that it was having a lack of power, towards the DR 600 . But, the DR was having the problems with the 5'th gears.
Ive always wanted one of these.. i've had IT465 IT490 YZ 465 YZ490 DT400 never an XT600 -- i've had the big Hondas too CR500 XR500 XR600 XL500 XL600 XR600L .. even KX500.. and an RM500.. but this Yam has always escaped my grasp.. what a sweet ride..
Had 1977 xt 500 What a classic thumper ! So fun to ride ! A real find Ken ! Thank you for sharing!!!Always impressed from the Best motorcycle channel in the Milky Way!!
I noticed them immaculate wheels straight away, these 80's enduros are the best looking and purposeful for what they were intended to be, to this day , I also think the yamaha IT 250 is the best 2stroke model 😀 was my dream bike back then😊
Had both a kickstart yam xt600 and suzi dr650, the yam felt lighter but the suzi felt way more powerful in comparison with loads of torque, but then again it was a 650 motor Love the red/white paint of a classic yamaha, that thing is pristine ❤
A really nice machine. I think Honda took over that design. My 2009 XR650L looks pretty darn similar to that bike and they've been making that design since the early 90's with only minor changes and upgrades.
I had one just like it about 10 years ago. It was as clean as yours. Definitly a wheelie king bike. Well balanced so you could ride a wheelie for a mile.
Those are cool bikes. I ran the cops on one of those (1986 model) when I was 14. I was helping my uncle & he said I could drive the bike home & cmdrive it back the next day to help him again. There was this girl I liked who said her parents were gone & I could come over if I could get a ride. We'll, I had a ride, the xt600!! I was almost to her house when a cop must've thought it was a dirtbike (I wasn't speeding) & decided to flip on his lights & give chase. I went flying past the chick's house with the first cop giving chase. I used some road & a lot of trails & fields to get away. There were 5 or 6 different cops involved. The offroad capability was crucial for me getting away. 😁
That thing is the 💣 1 of Yamahas best all around great duals. Had a Dr 500 w a comp release .. did get the kick in the leg. So good they all got ridden hard. 👍👍. Nice job guys n girls.
Dig these era of big bore thumpers! I owned a few. Only bummer IMO is most ran dual carb setups. Those gens were lookers, though my all time favorite dual sport looker were the red, white and blue XLs.
Nice bike Ken, but I can’t say I’m not disappointed that you didn’t jump it straight off the loading dock on your way out of the showroom. Commitment Kenny 😎
That's a sweet ride! It looks similar to the honda XL600. I just got a cherry 1995 suzuki dr650 with 640 miles and everything is still stock, including the tires.
Had one on a trade for a song. It had a fried ignition. The first year of those had a defect where the engine heat cooked it. The "fix" was to move it out from under the tank to under the seat.
Had an 86 XL 600R. I know I'll never see one like that again. It got stolen and recovered all beat to hell and back. Have a DR 650 now and I miss those mid eighties big bores. One day, when I win some kind of lottery, I might be able to afford one of these. I'm already jealous of the new owner. Beautiful example!
I like very much a Honda XR600 - 650L. But this bike is very beatiful too. Looks like just arrived of the factory. Here in Brasil i dint saw this bike. only XR650L. I had a XR600 for trail. Very good. Very good video. God Bless America and Brasil too!!!
I had an 82 XT550, and every six or eight months, the ($350) electronic ignition module would fail. Dealership mechanic said the 550s were notorious for it.
I bought an XT250 from a guy who then bought the this same XT600, man was I impressed with that bike back then! Total Wheeely hog! Back then everyone had a Honda XL of some size but the Yamahas were faster....
Those decals and everything are actually underneath the clear coat on the tank you're not taking those decals off the tank those decals are underneath the clear coat
I like the yellow yz bikes better than the red and white , I think they wanted to stand out from the rm bikes, the current blue is nice, but I still like the yellow better, Suzuki stayed yellow so blue does give Yamaha it's own color
I have a 1989 xt 600 she is very clean bike 2,800 it is immaculate mine has supper trap only thing not original and I cut that nasty long ugly black plastic back finder off all the way of looks 1000 times better
That's a diamond! That's a great bike for ripping around back roads
I had exactly one such, and i love it, except, that it was having a lack of power, towards the DR 600 . But, the DR was having the problems with the 5'th gears.
What a sweetheart. Rode a 85 XL 600 for years. Wheelie all day and outrun the sheriffs. Opoos. 😜
Wow! What an amazing bike Yamaha has always been really innovative with their production line bikes and this one is a fine example of that.
Настоящий трактор! Эндурил на таком! Красрта! Спасибо Кен! Россия смотрит! 🇷🇺 Всем мир!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Yeah it's the only motorcycle I own I've had three of them from the 80s 86,88 and now my 84
Nice! My uncle has a TT600. It’s a beast of a dirt bike!!
The twin intake system uses a vaccuum secondary 1/2 carb ...main jet and needle only...
👍
The xt 550 did too. The 600 got the bugs out of the system
I always loved Yamahas red white and gold colors, like the banshee was beautiful!
What a machine!!! 541 miles!!! WOW!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅
Ken Kaplan by himself is a Wheelie Monster. Always a jump into the Hot tub Time Machine with Ken.
Had a 91 model XT 600. Absolutely exhalent bike. I truly don't think the newer trail bikes are much better than the XT
Nice! I had a 1985! Put 50k miles on it! Rebuilt it 3 times. Ended up in my local bone yard.
I noticed them immaculate wheels straight away, these 80's enduros are the best looking and purposeful for what they were intended to be, to this day , I also think the yamaha IT 250 is the best 2stroke model 😀 was my dream bike back then😊
Just dreamy so close to Christmas!! Kenny comes across the real Gems!!!!!
With 22,000 MI my rims are still gold
My first street bike in 1986 was XT 350 just like that
Damn I would love to have that XT!!!!! So awesome, you see XL's all day, you never see the XT's 💯
Had both a kickstart yam xt600 and suzi dr650, the yam felt lighter but the suzi felt way more powerful in comparison with loads of torque, but then again it was a 650 motor
Love the red/white paint of a classic yamaha, that thing is pristine ❤
Tool bags are the best
Now all you need is a 85 SP600!
Just beautiful and with out the compression release, brake your leg and thanks for sharing 👍
did buy one in 1985 for 1500$ New ! best bike ever .. needs a bigger fuel tank ..
Great looking and sounding bike Ken...And love the wheelie control by the way 😁👍
A really nice machine. I think Honda took over that design. My 2009 XR650L looks pretty darn similar to that bike and they've been making that design since the early 90's with only minor changes and upgrades.
Had 87 XL600R what a beast
I had a 78 XT 500 what a great bike . I would love to have that one it’s freaking brand new wow . Torque monster.
Had a 1985 klr 600 loved it.
I had one just like it about 10 years ago. It was as clean as yours. Definitly a wheelie king bike. Well balanced so you could ride a wheelie for a mile.
I had the 83 Xt550 and sold it to my uncle. Love the old Xt's. Also had an 81 Xt250.
Time capsule Sundays!!!
Those are nice bikes. About time you got one!
Dam killer bike I owned two ‘83 550’s rode the wheels off both of them
Awesome machine Ken!!🇺🇸
Nice one. I overhauled a few Yamaha XT600's in my life. How much for such a pristine example???????????? RE
Nice wheelie.🎉 Another f****** time piece 🧩... Pardon my French

A nice motorcycle Ken thank you. Merry Christmas
That a nice $ 2,000.00 enduro😊
Dig these era of big bore thumpers! I owned a few. Only bummer IMO is most ran dual carb setups. Those gens were lookers, though my all time favorite dual sport looker were the red, white and blue XLs.
Not even broken in yet? Amazing! Always surprises me how many bikes just didn’t get ridden for whatever reason!
Beauty !!!
Has california emission canister on it..left side
Nice bike Ken, but I can’t say I’m not disappointed that you didn’t jump it straight off the loading dock on your way out of the showroom.
Commitment Kenny 😎
That's a sweet ride! It looks similar to the honda XL600. I just got a cherry 1995 suzuki dr650 with 640 miles and everything is still stock, including the tires.
@ I HAVE A 83 TT600. LOVE IT.

Great bike , had one new back in 85 amongst xr 5's tt 5's dr 5's , mint
It's been a long time since I've seen one of these up close.
I have one I ride regularly
i absolutely love it.
Awesome working on NXT 650 right now very rough
I had the an identical one but i think it was a 350 if i remember correctly.
541!
That’s like a 9 hour ride from Springfield mass to Cleveland Ohio give or take
Over 40 years
I live in Elyria and might have to double the mileage bringing it home
We had them to muster cattle on grandfather's station was the best upgrade from TS 175 Suzuki's we said we need foster bikers
The beast
🐝🏁 Incredible looking sweet 👌 great bike
Excellent 👊💯🤙
Had the 86' KLR 600 in Jamaica, miss that thing. You guys getting the Stark Varg EX?
page 357 of the Clymer manual for the xt600 and the TT 1983 to 1989
Hi,👍💪🏻🙏🇺🇸🇫🇷
I have one with 22,000 mi on it I call it the gazelle 1984
I had an 82 XT550, and every six or eight months, the ($350) electronic ignition module would fail. Dealership mechanic said the 550s were notorious for it.
Minty defantly my kind ov bikes the 1vj 2kf
Many years ago
I bought an XT250 from a guy who then bought the this same XT600, man was I impressed with that bike back then! Total Wheeely hog! Back then everyone had a Honda XL of some size but the Yamahas were faster....
You should have road it alittle longer.
Those decals and everything are actually underneath the clear coat on the tank you're not taking those decals off the tank those decals are underneath the clear coat
Front forks for 7 to 14 lb I wouldn't do anything past 12 lb in those front forks
What do you want for it? That would be a nice Mojave exploring bike.
Are those gold chains O or X ring?
@@NoremacOktik nice chain isnt it probs a (d.i.d )
you don't want to put any more than 14 lb in those shocks they are air dampers between 7 and 14 lb
I have xt600z 84 Red and white. Will never sell it
You had to do all that maintenance to a bike that has 500 miles on it clean the carb with 500 mi on it ok
with 22,000 Mi on the 84 that I have my anodized rims still look pretty dog gone good compared to be speaking
Yamaha should have never got rid of the black and yellow.
I like the yellow yz bikes better than the red and white , I think they wanted to stand out from the rm bikes, the current blue is nice, but I still like the yellow better, Suzuki stayed yellow so blue does give Yamaha it's own color
Clymer manual xt600 table one page 357 top block bottom information of top block
