Hi Alesia, Augusto here. And I’m ready to explain why Spain and the Spanish fans were horridly delusional (and justifiably so) in 2018. Apologies for following a love story on a 24/7 live feed of a reality show and falling for the damn trap.
I enjoyed so much this video!! Watching you from Madrid❤ In regards 2018, "From Justin to Kelly" may be your american reference. She won Operacion Triunfo (as American Idol) and he was 3rd, on a ver succesful season. They had a love story so everyone went crazy and voted to go to Eurovision. Like From Justin to Kelly, a really bad decision. Of course we should have won on 2022, and we all know😢 And if we finally win, the show needs to take place in Valencia. Benidorm does not have a huge stadium, so the nearest, biggest and the Capital of that Region is Valencia.
I think I heard somewhere that part of Spain's contract with Benidormfest means that if they won Eurovision then they are obliged to host Eurovision in Valencia.
Just as a side note: Spain from 1961 to 2006 has sent one of the most legendary artists in all of Iberoamerica. Legit its like one year they sent Beyonce twice, then Taylor Swift and then Billie Eilish. The kids don’t have a clue what a true power house Spain is in this contest.
SloMo is one of the best live ESC performances of all time. Period I guess it wouldn't have been neither Madrid nor Barcelona (they already get too much even without Eurovision 😂) Sevilla is possible, they hosted shows like EMAs so they're prepared but I guess the vast majority wants a fricking playa so maybe Valencia? 🎉 And yeah - Chanel would've won that year. Still hurts, Spains been waiting ages, came to deliver what almost everyone had been expecting from them for DECADES and we all know what happened...
5:15 Dear Alesia, I must apologise for the delusional OT (Operación triunfo) fans. They’re EVERYWHERE in twitter, meta and youtube and most other spanish eurofans (and non-OT fans in general) dislike them sm 😂😂 but you’ll see that Amaia, Alfred, Miki and even some BeFest contestants namely Famous, Angy Fernández and the infamous Agonei -not bc of himself but because of his toxic fandom- (Lord almighty he almost represented us😅) come from OT…
I'm Spanish and 2018 was a nightmare... I didn't like OT but still I liked some artists from there and THEY were not that artists. People are silly for reality shows and that is what OT was. They didn't even have that much chemestry. Please react to JESC Spanish Entry. Chloe is really good ❤
technically, chanel got a lot of 10 points by the televote, so in another situation some of ukraine’s 12 points would have gone to spain. i still think ukraine would be top 5 if not even top 3 as well, so i’m fine with that winner even tho slomo is my favourite spanish entry ever
Now when it comes to where it’ll happen IF Spain does win ESC: RTVE will default for Madrid, as per usual. WizinkCenter would likely be the venue (as it’s kind of convenient) unless they’re able to convince Real Madrid and make it work at Bernabeu Stadium. They’ll repeat Caja Mágica again, if they want to be cheap. Lol. Barcelona and their Palau Sant Jordi would be a dream. And luckily Spain has more suitable venues for hosting ESC.
I like the song and concept behind it, the lyrics, and the staging, but it should have been sung with more volume and in a more dynamic manner. The 80s beat doesn't help it much either. What about something more dynamic, something to latch onto. But I appreciate its message and am grateful for it to have been delivered on the Eurovision stage.
I think they are "BETTER" now. The expectations are far more realistic now. But Ima need some of them to go on and help out their French brothers and sisters because Lord... they are catching the delulu bug.
@@AlesiaMichelle their problem is they get too passionate about what they like but forget the entry should be for Europe. Ea ea was a terrible song but they got blinded by the undedniable talent that blanca has, and zorra is radio friendly but 0 competitive
I think Ruth was rumored to have sent a song to benidorm last year but it was all in english or something like that so couldnt make it through. If she does finally come back some year I hope is with some banger rock vibe song that is more her style than another power ballad.
Hmmmm... many might reckon Spain should be among my favorite ESC countries as a Spanish-speaking fan myself, but it's all contrary to popular belief for reasons too many to list here. At least Benidorm Fest is doing something, but I feel there's still LOTS of way to go. I just can't buy the argument RTVE's still on the learning curve with their National Selection procedure when the broadcaster's been the only 1 (to my understanding) to have partaken in the contest uninterruptedly since its debut!
What it is about good vocalist and mediocre tracks? From long ago there was a producer who buy a lot of song to Swedish songwriters to adapt to Spanish and he was very in touch with the old rtve team for eurovision. Then a new team came, cleaned the house and built Benidorm Fest. There was still some movements and this producer still collab to put some tracks on the list, and then he gained more weight and put more generic nowadays
My comments 2013 I kinda liked it. It's not as bad as people make it out to be, I kinda like her neon yellow dress in combination with blue lighting 2014 love it 2015, I'm not a fan, but I don't find it bad either 2016 cute, catchy, could have received more points, 2017 not a great song, bad vocals, amateur Jason Mraz, you kinda get school band vibes. It's like going on a private party and seeing a couple of your friends playing some songs. However, I don't think it should have finished last, Germany had a definitely worse song, also Australia, Greece, Croatia (not to mention songs that didn't make it to the final, eg San Marino, Malta, Slovenia, Ireland, Estonia, etc) were definitely worse. So were the vocals of the Australian guy. 2018 so cheesy, so boring, should have finished last. Spain should have sent something else to Eurovision. Yikes. Yes, I prefer Do It For Your Lover over this. 2019 I'm not a fan either, but definitely not as boring as the song that came before and the 2 songs coming afterward. 2020, yes, it's boring and derivative, but still better than Voy A Quedarme, and it might have even gotten a few points from the public, unlike its successor. 2021 boring, I think that the moon and the universe in the background were actually meant to be the staging of Universo. Spain probably didn't wanna invest into a new staging for an entry that was a contender for 0 points from the getgo. Although maybe they should have left out the moon because it just didn't fit the song very well. 2022 great song, but I don't think it's the best thing that ever happened. And I preferred Ay Mama at Benidorm, and I think that Hold Me Closer and Stefania were just better songs. But definitely the best Spanish entry this decade. Dancing In The Rain was great as well, also Quédate Comigo. Zorra also wasn't that bad, I like its meaning and its concept, but it should have been sung louder and in a more dynamic way. Maybe ditch the 80s beat for something more interesting.
Slowmo is something that should have happend years ago, but better late then never i guess. Ill just give a short reaction to the entries... 2013 - terrible 2014 - better.. 2015 - nope! 2016 - decent! 2017 - corny 2018 - overrated 2019 - cute 2020 - boring 2021 - also boring 2022 - best Spanish song of the last decade.

It's not on the video, but I'm still pissed that in 2023 the public robbed Blanca Paloma so bad, she definetly deserved more than 5 points.
Yep, she was top 5
shes amazing, but the song was horrible!

Would love to see you react to 2000s songs. Iconic decade.
Unpopular Opinion: I hated Spain’s song in 2022. My fav song from Spain is Zorra.

Blanca paloma for me the Best . And sadly underrated
The BEST is Chanel
@@miz_salvatore2133 yes the Best is channel. Soy
funny thing is the entry they hated the most (Chanel) is the best one Spain ever had. Spain definitely dont know how to compete strategically

I will die on this hill Barei was robbed in 2016. mannnnnnn that staging was so bare
@@djsherbetx the staging was like an exercise in NO STAGING.

Barcelona ❤❤❤❤❤
Sad this started in 2013. 2012 is my favourite Spanish song currently
Will you maybe do this with Slovenia?

Well Madrid is gonna host JESC this year, so probably would be Benidorm or Barcelona. :)
Benidorm lo dudo... Sería Valencia
@@miz_salvatore2133 Quien sabe :) non estoy en su contra :) depende de los recursos de cada ciudad. :)
In Barcelona of course!
Voy A Quedarme was a great song in my opinion, it just wasn't great for a contest like Eurovision
Alesia you should use Schlager Lucas’ videos for your reactions, he has the entries updated to 2024. Hope you’ll do more of these!
