Top line is Chan's life in a song.
the first time I read the lyrics I could picture everything Chan told us about his journey, how hard it was and even now when every single Stay is telling him to take a break and take care of himself because he accomplished so much, he is like "no, I have so much more to do".
No one can compare to Chan tbh! his sacrifice, hard work, failures, drive, debut and his slow and steady success with skz are unmatched and he is not planning on slowing down but he is never cocky about it, just genuinely happy about his accomplishments and new goals. 🌟
I think the 3Racha's dedication and commitment, esp. Chan's, set the tone for the rest of the members. The other members are striving to always be better, proving time and again that Chan did selected the right people, not to follow him but to walk along side him, throughout this journey. I am greatful to have found them! ❤❤❤

The lines talking about "counting wins on the Grand Line" and "But they can't pass me I'm the Red Line", I feel are One Piece references!
In One Piece, the Grand Line is an ocean route that wraps around the world and is basically where all the pirates who want to make names for themselves and start their adventures go.... however, not a lot of people make it because the Grand Line is unpredictable, dangerous, and is filled with lots of other strong people. In fact, there was only one pirate crew to make it all the way through and the Captain of that crew became the Pirate King. So the line, "counting wins on the Grand Line", is basically saying they're out there getting all these "wins" as they make their way “around the world”, (STRAY KIDS WORLD DOMINATION) making it big in this industry that many people want to make it in, but is not always the case.
The "Red Line" is a continent that wraps around the entire world in One Piece kind of like a giant border. It goes high above sea level all the way down to the sea floor and is considered to be impassable and indestructible. So it's an easy comparison to say that Stray Kids is the Red Line and you can't pass them because they're just too good at what they do and are at that high of a level. 🤭
I'm not the best at explaining but I hope this made sense! That's what I thought those lines meant.

One thing I have noticed about this comeback is that Hyunjin is rapping a LOT more than he has for a while. And I'm here for it!
Something else.....they showed that Topline comic book so many times in the MV, I wonder if they're actually going to add that to their merch for fans to buy?
I think that was actually supposed to be a reference to the manga/anime One Piece, if you look closely there should be something about being the "pirate king" written on the cover, they even mention in the lyrics "Grand Line" and "Red Line" which both are prominent locations in One Piece.
I didn't listen to topline until the mv was out, it was really hard to make because it was one of my most anticipated songs from the album. Even though my expectations were already at the topline, skz somehow went even higher. It is really legendary like tiger jk. I have no words.
Andy and Jas, we love you because you give us insights into their lyrics from a Korean language perspective which the western world may not grasp. And an understanding of how important of a collaboration with Tiger JK is in this song. I for one love listening to both you and the musics meanings. Thank You!!

Here's another perspective: A lot of those lyrics like "If you follow behind me just looking at my rear, you're going to derail" are also saying --"Yo, dude, if you're just going along nose to our butt trying to get where we are by following us, you'll never find your own way and you'll crash because you're never looking up to see where YOU are. We made it by being ourselves. Be yourself, make it as yourself, that's how we did it, so if you want to copy us, do what we did and do your own thing!"
Over and over their diss tracks and flex tracks are actually saying the same message as Maniac had--be your own odd self and let it out, don't hide, don't try to be someone else to be successful, be successful because you are the best you there is...."
Most of my favorite reactors (like you guys) do that, they are their own odd selves, they bring so much enthusiasm and energy and don't worry too much about seeming weird, and it is so fun to watch, and that's why they're successful. They stand out because they give their very own flavor, which is unique to them. And Skz is totally into that style of success. One reason their are my current favorite group.

It's also great that the topic of Stray Kids wanting more for their career and I think that's why they keep on pushing themselves while they still can, which unfortunately, there are those who don't understand. As Hyunjin mentioned during one of their interviews, "they are still hungry" and that's what keeps them going. 🔥🔥🔥
The INSANE level of references and play on words in this song is actually crazy! I saw one other person explain it in the comments but the pre-chorus is a big shout out to the manga/anime One Piece!! For those who aren't familiar with it, the basic premise is that the previous pirate king sets off a golden age of piracy by announcing at his own execution that he's left the world's greatest treasure, known as the One Piece, for anyone with the dream, will and ambition to find it. So people from all over the world have to traverse the infamous and legendary ocean that stretches around the entire circumference of the world to claim it and become the next pirate king.
In the context of the song, the world is bisected by one massive, unpassable continent that reaches around the world called the "Red Line" and the legendary ocean the pirates have to get through to claim the one piece is called the "Grand Line". There is only one entrance to the Grand Line, so everyone that enters starts from the same starting point... but only the BEST, the ones who put in the work and the effort, with the best crews and the most ambition make it the farthest around the world and they're the closest to claiming the One Piece.
The pre-chorus talking about rolling on the waves and collecting wins on the Grand Line feels like an allegory for Stray Kids career; how hard they've worked and how far they've come to be considered some of the best in the world. And the Red Line is unpassable to those who don't have the will or the guts to risk everything to get acrossit. Very few do and they're all the much stronger and more respected for getting to the other side. They're saying if you can't even get to this level, you won't surpass us. It's such a flex.
To take it even FURTHER-- the TOPLINE comic they're all flipping through in the MV has some really awesome art on the cover of all eight members drawn in the same style and manner as some of the strongest and best Marine Admirals in the One Piece world. And it may be reaching but Felix's amazing coat is very similar to one of the strongest pirates warlords in the world known as Doflamingo Donquixote. It's definitely worth it to search quick pics of the One Piece Globe, One Piece Marine Admirals and Doflamingo just to get a quick glimpse and get a whole extra level of fun references from the song and MV. It's amazing!

I think something you guys might've missed when JK mentions tympanic cavity is that its a double. The tympanic cavity not only what sends backs sound waves but it also helps us keep our balance hence he mentions gravity later on in the line!

the train horn sounds in the choruses and felixs ending solo, plus the lines about imitators getting derailed and them never detouring make me think that theres also a train / subway 'line' pun throughout. i picture them laying a 'new (train) line' in a 'new area' where there werent any stations or tracks before, and therefore reaching more people and connecting more parts of the world into the rail line system that is STAY
plus lines could also be like lines in a song or poem, and their lines, like their lyrics, are always on top

The one visual reference that my mind kept interpreting is the money and washing machines and how many would think money laundering. I see it as the haters who accuse jyp of buying albums to inflate ranks in the past.
Now with 5 ⭐ preorders getting 3rd party confirmed as #1. Tiger JK being featured in topline basically sharing a similar journey of hate while going to the top. Both stating they're going to keep doing what's theirs to do (make music from their souls about what is important to themselves) and THAT is what puts them above everyone else because their conscience is clear to continue to take this till their end (and it will continue after them because the loop is never ending).

My dream as a child for middle school was to get good grades (all a’s) and focus on my school life. I carried that goal with me to middle school. I still have that goal for my future too. This year, I basically did it, I only missed one class to have all a’s in the grade book. I am proud.
