I’ve got the Braille army app so whenever I get stuck I pop that baby open and there’s like a hundred tutorials. Helps boost confidence watching vids with beginners like this too, like “aww man I remember it being that scary to do that, jeez I’ve come a long way”.
Hi guys it's James (the guy from the video with the socks). Big thanks to Braille for helping a 31 year old learn to skate after giving up on it as a kid. Shoutout to Ricky for the tech support and Mo for the moral support!
You killed it dude! I'm a 47 year old coming back to boarding after 30 something years and I was terrible before I quit, so I understand the fear.. You should be proud of yourself!
2 days ago I dropped in on a 1,5m (that would be 5 Feet) Quarter Pipe in my local which I was scared to do for months and months. I had the tech to do it for a while just didn't have the commitment. I put on a helmet and just went for it. The last 2 days I probably dropped in like 30 or 40 times. Never bailed. This video is a huge inspiration for lots and lots of people out there. I know the struggle. Thanks Braille Team, for everything you've done to the Skateboarding Community
Yeah ours was made out of pure concrete and they were dropping in before it was opened in a tent to protect it from weather damage...never touched it remove side fence just Ollie off it pressure flip king each one is different wanna play bones I conquered the park it's all mine now get your mountain bike out of here
Yes! We need more people to teach, we want to get Alec back to the braille house to go all the way through the trick guide until he is kick flipping down the 5 stair
This is my favorite passtime. I taught my 10 year old sister how to drop in this past summer, once she got one, she got em all. She even moved from the 4 foot to the 6 foot within the first hour. People who are scared of skateboarding because they're scared of getting hurt need to get into vert. You truly are the master of your own demise.
when dropping in on a bank, it would be easier with a curb-high block on top of the ramp (like a small manny pad), so you could set up the board horizontally like on a normal deck.
I have skated 3 times in total, all within the last month. I learned that full sending is sometimes just the way to go... even at 36 lol. Also... I can't wait to drop in.
Hey Braille I just recently just learned how to drop in at my local skate park on the bowl and it only took me 2 tries to get it! I started out just trying it on ramps and then finally went full send!
considering the lack of practice that he has, his performance was above average for a new skater... in only 2 days he did what it took me months of skating to accomplish.
I did a drop in at 8 febru 2022. Lost control over the board when i was on the flat. And ended with a broken ankle. But atm still in recevory cant wait to stand again on my board to go further.
Could you guys please do a video on someone learning how to ollie up a manual pad. I've been stuck on that for longest now. It's just the fear of smacking it and falling foward
I was super comfortable on my board and couldn't drop in. Tried a few times and gave up 20 years ago. It's on my list for this summer. Along with power slide and getting into primo.
yeah you can do it. I was skating for 5 months before I could drop in. had somebody hold my hands the first few times on a small quarter and then I got it. the most important advise I can give, other than to seek help, is to make sure your body is inside the ramp before your weight goes on your front foot. and bend those knees. as long as you lean forward, nothing much can happen really. wear some kneepads and you are preped for the worst. my goal is to drop in on a ramp as big as I am, so around 6.2 ft so far the 4.5 ft quarter is my limit
I was annualizing all the tries, especially the falls, to see more what to do and not to do so hopefully when I try again I can do it! And hopefully not break another finger lol (finger is still swollen) Going full on pads, knee pads, wrist guards, elbow, everything I have lol Also going to take someone else's advice and practice riding up and down it a bunch so I dont lean too far forward and fall forward again, but if I do hopefully I can knee slide this time.
been skating for 2 or 3 years(and longboarded most of my life so im very familiar with board control) I can do every foundational trick in the braille line up other than kickflips, and the thought of dropping in is terrifying to me lol i know its not a "hard" trick but definitely a scary one to tackle at first. i hope to learn dropping in this summer
I remember being In 7th grade and learned to drop in on the slug 4” , 5”, and 6” vert In the same day. It took me over a decade to grow the puebos to roll into the 4” haha .
Love this video gave me Hella confidence for when the snow melts I bought my first board this winter can't wait to start skating in spring. I already long board hopefully that helps a bit. Edit:I'm 20
My first drop in was when I was 6 - I fell so hard I broke my helmet and went blind for 20 minutes. I'm now 24 and I haven't dropped in since but I've decided to go for it this weekend - wish me luck boys
I’m 36 and I got to the skate park with my son and I decided to buy a skate board and learns to roll Ollie and drop in on a mellow quarter in just 3 hours
i learned how to drop in my first time trying it but when i went back to trying to drop in i lost the skill to be able to do it again but im still trying to learn again
the first time I tried to drop in I broke my ankle and years later here I am now healed and now know how to do it and broke it again this past friday...
I hit 30 last year, and I haven't touch a skateboard in almost 4 years now. I've been really wanting to get back into it, and I shall. I just need to pull some money together for a decent setup. I have but a longboard.
I'm just starting skating, 7 weeks in, watching people who have worse balance than myself gives me a lot of hope that I can succeed lol no offense to this new guy cuz he's trying (:
I actually swear to this I watched this video yesterday maybe the day before and I was thinking abojt it today and wanted to go to the skatepark I’ve been skating for a LONG time but never went to a skate park because I didn’t want to deal with it I just kept to the streets but today I went and I practiced all you guys said basically and by the end of the day I hit the biggest drop in at the park taller then me 3rd try
Half pipes were never my thing, I could drop in but other than that, nothing too scared but show me a 10 set and I’m doin it, 12 set, a couple deep breaths and I’m going for it
I’ve got the Braille army app so whenever I get stuck I pop that baby open and there’s like a hundred tutorials. Helps boost confidence watching vids with beginners like this too, like “aww man I remember it being that scary to do that, jeez I’ve come a long way”.

I cant state that anymore, but I audibly cheered him on too 😁
same i was like yeah do it my man! and clap when he did it lol
Turning 31 next week, and just got back to skateboarding, it’s encouraging to see others in my situation and push themselves through new challenges!
I literally learned how to drop in..in one day and it was best experience ever!! Keep grinding 🤟🏽
Nice
Me too
braille going back to its original mission. teach the world how to skate. this is the best. brings back memories of LANCE live skate support.
Yes! We need more people to teach, we want to get Alec back to the braille house to go all the way through the trick guide until he is kick flipping down the 5 stair
I hope James returns in future videos I loved watching his progress 👍
Full send, and you can do it!!!
I love how gabe is makin a beginner drop in an yet he stays away from dropping in. WE NEED GABE DROPPIN IN VID LOL

2 minutes in and I'm already learning how to be a better skater even though I've been skating for a few months now. 🙌 Love these kind of vids

Didn't have RUclips back in the day... Not even everyone had dial up xD ahh the late 90s.

the way James casually smacks the camera on accident 😭

When stopping u wanna start at the herl and slowly roll your foot while applying pressure. Where I’m at so far he’s touching his toes and almost dying
Gabe I want you to follow along and drop in on the big ramp
I just started skating like 2 weeks ago I learned how to Ollie before I could ride lol

dropping in opens up a whole new world of skating. and, just like being "the one" from the matrix, everyone falls the first time.

oh man, yall got some horrendous numbers view-wise, lol. cool to see ur still grinding ;) these vids out though.
It took me 2 trys to drop in on roller blades by myself but I think doing it on a skateboard is harder because there's more ways to die.
Great Video.
