Garden Catastrophe Cleared | You Have Never Seen Anything Like This 😮

  • So this massive disaster happened after many years of neglect and poor maintenance. The property is owner occupied (young female), but the care factor is low, but it made for a great cleanup. The thickness of this stuff was amazing, and it was growing everywhere - through the fence, under the house, through the gutters, into the roof and even inside of the house! As you would expect, the young owner was now having trouble with plumbing and needed access to the side of the house. You will see at the start the owner's uncle tried to restore the area with a bit of DIY gardening, but found it much too difficult and called us. We did our best to remove what we could, but some parts were beyond repair. All up, the job took around 8 hours to complete, and we took out 4 trailer loads of green waste.
Workers on this job: George (long pants) & Brent (shorts).

    -
    FAQ's:
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in 4 years on the job.
    Q: Where are you located?
A: We are from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘🦘🦘.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: We use mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs!
    Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin!
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of cans?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I'm not really sure to be honest, maybe something to do with space & maintenance, but either way, it really is poor heat efficiency!
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!

My husband watched this with me… the first time he’s seen you guys. When you started, I told him that after you finished someone would not be able to tell there had been a severely overgrown hedge there. He didn’t believe me. But he did when you finished and was in awe of your work ethic, just as I am! Wonderful job - again!! I hope you rewarded yourselves appropriately!❤️

I think plumbing wasn't their only problem judging by how much those creepers had penetrated the wood cladding and the roof! At least the fence seemed in reasonably good shape after you removed the undergrowth. What was just a 45 minute video for us, must have left the two of you exhausted! Terrific job 👍🏼

That was brutal! It’s kind of sad that people don’t get or understand home yard maintenance. I’m 60 years old and love mowing, edging and cleanup. My dad taught me (oldest and only daughter) and my 3 brothers how to care for a yard. From machetes to ride ons, we’ve done it all. I taught my own children how to do this. I remember once my lawnmower was in the shop and my neighbors thought I was sick because my grass was long! I would do it for free…for the air, the freedom, the smell of fresh cut grass and the satisfaction!

I’m 62, RA, back issues. If I could, I’d get out here and really work hard at my yard, but it’s just too painful to recoup. I understand it, but my body says forget it.

    • @dejonm1021
      @dejonm1021 Год назад +7

I understand it completely. We had a 1/3 acre property on a cul de sac and had 5 kids. When they were younger we had no problem taking care of our yard and teaching our kids the value of a days hard work and the end results they got to enjoy when it was done. But as they got older they wanted nothing to do with yard work. It got too much for us and now we’ve had to downsize to a smaller house and yard because of no help from them. Sad that this generation is all about having others do the work for them.

I so prefer your videos to all the rest!
    Here are some reasons why:
You don’t cut corners , you always do a thorough, professional job.
It seems like you do big clearings in layers, and the guy who fills the can and runs back and forth to the truck makes such a huge difference!
That makes it possible to cut the next layer properly because you can see what’s there!
I hate the vlogs where it’s one guy and thousands of dollars of equipment butchering everything in sight! And then they “mulch” all the debris so they never need to bend over and do any physical labor!
Your natural rhythm of not bumping into each other is fun to watch, too!
Whenever your videos show up, I know I’m in for a good time!

It's a wonder the limb cutter did the job so well, I think I would have used a chain saw and cut the big stuff down to the ground. But I wasn't there so I didn't see what you had to contend with, the way you did it was safer.

The degree that those plants had overgrown, to the point of thick stems growing into the siding, was rather distressing. Really glad you were able to work on the overgrowth. I just laughed, at the idea of what the Plumber might have said, "There is no way I can work in that mess. Call me back when you have it all cleared-out, not just a rabbit hole to the likely work spot." Good grief, there is a shrub growing from the bricks, from the inside of the house. Your experience, teamwork and tools are holding you in good stead. I think I agree with another commenter, the neighbors are likely to have a lot less trouble as well, and more light. Congratulations on the results of your knowledge and determination.

You ARE the perfect team, and you always do a great job. Very satisfying to watch you create order out of chaos. But I can't help but wonder: how is it that all these people neglected taking care of their homes? It's shocking. And why didn't they call you before their yards became "catastrophes"!

You 2 are without a doubt the most talented & best co-ordinated landscapers on you tube. It is an honor to watch such craftsmen at work. I know your secret though...it is the funny silver rubbish bins you carry with you!!!

What a nightmare for the homeowner. It’s scary just how quickly creepers can get out of hand and the damage they do can be very expensive. I expect the neighbours were truly grateful too, you literally let the sunshine in!

Any chance of having a part 2 on this clean up? Because there's still those side bushes at the front and back that needs the same attention on the side of the house ...
What a horrible invasive kind of bush that was...as always you two are awesome pair doing this sort of job...THE BEST 👌 😊 Stay safe guys..loved the new short of Brent❤

Seems like maybe the yard is only being maintained on an "as required basis" rather than any esthetic purpose at this point.

That was a nightmare! I certainly hope they had you come back to finish cutting down the rest of that ugly stuff. Your employee was quite the hustler. I bet you were happy to have him with you 😮. Looks so much nicer. Im sure the neighbors appreciate it. ❤😊
