  • Have I got a beauty for you today! This property is owned by one of my long term regular customers, and it has pretty much been like this since I started over 4 years ago. I'm reasonably confident that the owner is a single mother with 4 or 5 fully grown adult children and 2 dogs all living together, and the garden is just too difficult for her to maintain. Since I was looking for some content, I thought it would be nice to help her out and do a full yard makeover. The job will be done over numerous videos, as it is a large property. This section to us around 3 hours, with one trailer load full of rubbish and green waste, plus a dead kangaroo! This is part 1 of 4.
Part 02: • Can we RESTORE this cr...
Part 03: • I was FORCED to FIX th...
    Part 04: • Overgrown JUNGLE of a ...
Workers on this job: George (long pants) & Brent (shorts).

    FAQ's:
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in 4 years on the job.
    Q: Where are you located?
A: We are from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘🦘🦘.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: We use mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs!
    Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin!
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of cans?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I'm not really sure to be honest, maybe something to do with space & maintenance, but either way, it really is poor heat efficiency!
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!

I love the thought of uncovering a stone wall and steps. I found something similar when I was a kid. It was covered with blackberries and my brother and I worked on it after school every day. It led down to a creek (Sassafras Creek). It is now part of a national park walk😊

George, like everyone else, I can't believe "someone" owns a beautiful property like this and is so careless! I live in a 4-bedroom apartment and have other expenses, and I have never neglected. We have to love everything we have.

It just amazes me how people totally neglect their yards. I would love to have 1/3rd the wall that was in this yard. You were able to bring back it's beauty and I sure hope the owner appreciates all the hard work your putting into it. I've watched several of your videos and I know how hard the work can be especially in the heat. I live in Florida in the USA where I maintain a half acre home with many flower beds, garden beds and most of my lawn is weeds that I cut and care for continually. I have also helped a neighbor cut trees down and trim several up, removed raised bed bushes, build a fenced in garden, plant flowers and veggies, clean and repair gutters, pressure wash the front of her home and sidewalk, and for 2 weeks I picked up branches, raked it and cut her lawn in sections. I am not spring chicken and thank God I can still help others who can't. Kudos to you and keep up the good work.

I once found a racoon that had died in my yard and the funk was insane. I can't even imagine something as big as a kangaroo! But being from the States any kangaroo would be quite a spectacle, dead or alive. That would be comparable to finding a dead black bear, I think. They do love to come into back yards here quite often. Anyway, great job. Clean up looks fabulous!

Makes me miss the days when I was able to have a beautiful yard with flower beds & a garden. Health worsened, so I had to hire a kid, (who unfortunately mowed off my beautiful rose bush , as well as all my lovely lilly plants. (And was greatly overcharged). Every time I look out the windows now,
    I just wanta cry.
Nice to see someone knows what they're doing...even if you are clear across the globe.

A few colourful feature plants, like the 2 rose bushes (kept trained/trimmed), to set off this stone work would be a much nicer compliment.

I'm so glad you commented about the removal of the Agapanthus! Watching them hack at them was shocking to me. I found it very upsetting. Where I live one small piece of root/tuber (whatever) is incredibly expensive. I've always thought of them as a treasure. My heart was breaking when the 2 to the right of the steps were ripped out. After reading your comment, I feel better. Cheers!

Awesome job on this back yard . Can't wait for part 2. I was just wondering how did the kangaroo die in the backyard.
