DeWalt DCF809 Atomic Impact Driver | A little bit underpowered

- The Dewalt DCF809 Atomic Impact driver is a compact 18 volt impact driver. It features a brushless motor producing 190Nm of Torque. In this video I compare it against the AEG or Ridgid and the Hikoki Impact driver. They are also single speed brushless impact drivers. I talk about the tools features and test the tool with a 100mm roofing screw into a treated timber post.

Thank you for the review! It helped me in making my choice of tools. Keep up the good work!
Thank you. I'm glad you found it helpful
Hi from the other side of the pond. Great informative video Brother, I'm in. New Sub.👍💯😎
That's fantastic. Thanks for the sub 👍
No nonsense. Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks
Speed in driving screws is not just about power but rather RPM's. Faster motor equals quicker driving of fasteners
If theres no resistance force on the screw true but sadly not the case when driving in these screws
They must have changed something because my 809 is a 20v and states it on the case. Maybe the extra volts helps with the RPMs.
20 volt tools are really only 18 volts
Just marketing. They are 18 volt battrries, but they are 20 volt max
I just bought the 809. It was only $70 and I have batteries. As long as it's as powerful or more powerful that my M12 Fuel I'll be happy. What do you think? Will it be more powerful than my M12?
Hi Dan. It should be quite a bit more powerful than the M12. Hope it goes well.
@@tooloptics8651 I'll find out soon!
@@dangrimes5078 I'd say it's not as powerful as the m12
@@lancemill5683 I used to love all the m12 tools. I have at least 6 of them. I don't even use the ones I have much anymore and won't buy anymore of them. Why? The main reason is that I think Milwaukee blew it on the battery design. I have an m12 multi tool that I may as well throw in the garbage. The battery will not stay in.
I used to love my m12 impact driver until I got my DeWalt with a variable speed trigger. I'd never buy an impact driver with a 3 speed trigger again. I also have an m12 circular saw. It's cute as hell but so underpowered as to make it virtually useless. I also have an m12 electric ratchet. Here again the way the battery connects is a problem for me. After owning at least 6 different brands the Hercules is my favorite.
As far as the 18v Milwaukee tools I own I have been more than satisfied. Shout out to the right angle grinder. That is a great tool.
my dwalt impact is odd, when I put a drill bit in , it wobbles side to side !
Ha ha. Use an impact bit and it should work perfectly 👍
@@tooloptics8651 it is a impact bit
Right. The bit in an impact driver will wobble a little bit. That’s normal for an impact driver. A regular drill will hold a bit more precisely and firmly. It’s not really recommended to use drill bits in an impact driver.
Hope that helps.
I had the same problem. When I took my impact driver apart to change the chuck, I think I reseated the gearbox properly and I believe the problem is fixed. I think it is just a bit misaligned.
Your using 18 volt batteries in a 20 volt tool. Use the right battery and it will perform better.
He was using the right battery
I am sorry but this DeWalt is a joke. It is selled in my country in a set with 2 batteries 2 AH, charger and hard case for 175$ on promo, the batteries and the charger market value is 145$ meaning the tool itself is 30$ on promo... so that is why it is so underpowered and missing selectors and stuff. It is just build cheaply so they can sell it cheap.
Basically got it for free....was it worth it??😏👍
$30 isn't bad though. I got mine in a combo kit. Even though it is not as great as other models, I still like it.
190 Nm are a joke
