Tally Ho every week keeps getting closer to total rebirth . From the derelict hull rotting away to the proud sailing boat she is today is an epic story ..thank you Leo for sharing your amazing story with Us all . Video work and music is always excellent !
Again and again i cannot help but think, that the Tally Ho Project has to be one of if no the greatest project on RUclips. The passion for your craft is amazing to see.
While it would be good if she sailed in a future Fastnet race should they risk her in one. This years race was a near disaster for many with extreme sailing conditions with I believe a number of yachts sinking and many damaged Tally Ho is too precious a hull to be risked in this way. If a modern yacht will struggle in these conditions what would they do to a 100 year old design.
'Gold' for: 1. Your RUclips channel, 2. Your ability to make it feel it's also a bit 'our' channel, 3. Your contagious drive and energy, 4. Your technical skills, 5. Your management skills 6. Your vision that started something and will finish this beautifull boat, 7. Hopefully the carvings, I think it would look amazing and if any boat deserves it, it would be TH.
Any universities out there watching should be looking at awarding an Honorary Degree/doctorate to you Leo for the way you have lead the project, educated hundred of thousands of people along the way and drawn from many fine crafts from all over America, to bring back to life a very important piece of sailing history: Well done you and all your team.👏👏 From the UK
I am a fan of gold cove stripes, especially if her name will be in gold too. Elegant ladies such as Tally Ho deserve a little something special to show our love and appreciation for their beauty and dependability. IMHO A gold cove strip is understated admiration of the blood sweat and tears you have put into the boat. Everyone needs a little spoiling now and then to remind us how special they are. I am truly amazed at your skills and how many people you have brought along for the ride. It has been a fantastic story and I look forward to the future.
As a carver and lover of vintage vessels, I really appreciate your decision to replicate the original motifs and your carving abilities are actually quite good. Your eye and your talents are displayed throughout the boat as leader of the team, even if you weren't the person crafting the various items. Much well deserved Credit!
Leo Don't doubt yourself. Don't mess with success. Keep doing what you are doing with that commitment to meticulous craftmanship and highlighting the skills and comradary of your crew. I would love a walk around video. I will be joy filled and sad at her Launch. Please commit to videos like you mentioned of her operation, how her sails are set and trimmed , how you navigate, how her galley works at sea etc etc. I would love that! You touched on that a bit years back when you went to skipper on a boat you had been professional crew on, you mentioned a bit about watch cycles etc. I love TALLY HO, but its because of who you are, Please continue to take us with you.
I’m unbelievably choked up right now. I’ve been watching since the first video, six years ago, and, without any serious woodworking skills, had actually thought about flying across the country, that first year, and just offering to cook for the crew. One of my brothers moved to a small town on the Seattle side of the sound last year, and I had already arranged to get there for the Festival, hoping that the big door might be open when I wandered by so I could get a peek inside. Needless to say, I am thrilled beyond words. Thank you, Leo, for bringing us all along on this wonderful journey, and, now, for inviting us into your space. ❤
My heart skipped a beat when Leo said, "One thing I can say for sure is, I do intend to sell this boat..." What?! As he continued his sentence, I realized he was saying, "I do intend to SAIL this boat on some long voyages..." 10:16
Loved the carvings Leo ! The thought of Tally Ho coming to England then eventually taking part in the Fastnet race from the Isle of Wight will be incredible, we'll be definitely coming to watch that it will be amazing and I'm sure you'll get a huge amount of local support and not just from the island and Cowes. In the meantime we can enjoy her recreation, it is truly fascinating. Anyone who wants some inspiration I suggest they watch or re-watch the very first couple of episodes from this labour of love story!
Leo you have blessed me with these videos. It is a joy to be a contributor to Tally Ho. You demonstrate all that is good and great in humanity. You started with only a love for wooden boats, and for the history of this boat. Against huge odds, you just dug in and began. Your desire to create a thing of beauty, just for it own sake, was an inspiration to everyone. I started watching this series at #3 ! I have never lost sight of the fact that rebuilding Tally Ho is a supreme act of human will to create. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking me along with you on this journey.
All of your beautiful brass and bronze is "gold" enough. Nice carvings! The New Tally Ho is such a wonderful tribute to all your lives and those who have contributed to and watched you. Thank you for your videos.
Yeah, Gold not needed, plus I'm not sure how the adhesives used in gold leaf would handle a salt water environment. That said, the obvious colour, black, does not really sound right either. Personally, I'd go with Leo's favourite colour. Just a small personal touch that most would not recognise.
@@petert3355 Said: "Personally, I'd go with Leo's favourite colour. Just a small personal touch that most would not recognise." I concur, it's the little things that carry the best stories over time.
I agree with Leo that gold would be too ostentatious. I think it would be nice to use a paint color that mimics the color of all that lovely purpleheart timber that he turned into the keel and centerline many moons ago. That or the fun florescent color of the red lead bedding compound used whenever they installed the new frames.
Leo, your a Englishman who is building a historic boat with extreme care and attention to detail. If there's anyone who is able to be extremely Ostentatious when building a boat then surely it has to be an Englishman !!! Go for gold Leo !!!. As always guy's 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
Considering leaf gold and taking the relative small area of the ornaments this is not going to be extremly ostentatious but rather work intensive. But it is realy worth the effort.
Yes, it would be beautiful, but also consider the maintenance. I work in a historic building with lots of carving and gold leaf. It takes a lot of regular maintenance that is expensive!
Leo, some of your supporters were a bit upset seeing you forcibly ejected from Sequim a few years ago. But in retrospect, I don't think you could have completed 'Tally Ho', or at least as efficiently as you are doing so now, had you remained there. The resources available at Port Townsend are superb, and seem to be just what are needed to bring your marvelous project to fruition. Funny how serendipity works sometimes. Hoping to see you again at your upcoming open house.
Amazing job Leo. I cant imagine Tally Ho finished up and back in water again. You and your team deserve all the praise in the world. Excellent job. Much love and greetings from Azerbaijan.
Tally Ho is certainly deserving of having her golden crown, 👑 after all, her destination is to the land of the Monarchy. 🇬🇧 👑 🏰 🗡️ 🛡️ ⚜️ ⚓ 💂 ⛵ 🌊 Does any of these resemble that which your own hands carved, I think so!
I am convinced that gold leefing this carving would give that final touch of classic style and class that we allexpect to see on Tally Ho. And by the way, gold leefing is a tedious process for sure, but it is not that expensive, since the concerned area is not that big. Let's open the bets: to gild or not to gild? That' the question! 😃
I agree, there is a recent launch of a boat that went through that; building a boat for years and now, he has to transition to sailing. That is a lot less hectic than building a boat. I suggest Leo talk to him ahead of the launch of Tally Ho.
@@2oqp577 but if you watch his (A2A) last video, he was so stressed out and basically admitted was terrible to crew because of that stress. They have so much still to do. hard to enjoy sailing it with all the work needing to be done. I say, slow down and get as much done before. Also, I like to see more detailed videos. It's hard for Leo to get too in depth with what they are doing with so much going on.
Hi Tally Ho, I grew up on Long Island Sound at Norwalk CT. Our family were engaged in sign making and boat lettering. We serviced most of the boatyards in the area from 1936-1987. Applied gold leaf cove stripes and transom names to unaccountable yachts including many Herreshoffs. Great childhood and partial adulthood. Blessings and good luck.
While I would love to see Tally Ho floating on her own, I'm in no rush to see that day. I look forward to seeing all kinds of craftsmanship and talent displayed every week.
Gold leaf would be expensive, however, there are some different gold paints available that could look terrific and still fit the character of the boat.
@@1991pony Leo has a pretty good aesthetic. I’m sure he’ll pick something great. If he decides to go with leaf maybe he’d have a fund raiser. I think we all want this boat to be super sweet
The counting futtocks and Live Oak poetry was a special episode. Been keeping up since. The Tally Ho has become something greater than the sum of her parts. I often wonder if you read Lionnel Casson or even if Captain MacWhirr is familiar? When you set off separating waters know this; The Ancient Greeks named the forepart of a keel with good reason.
Leo Goolden, young man of many talents, and if there is a touch of emotion that shows through, he would not be human were it otherwise. To dedicate several years of a young life, find and motivate the right people, and raise the finances for such a worthwhile project is inspirational. I feel that many who have contributed would love to know his long-term plans for the ownership and operation of Tally Ho.
Ownership and operation ARE the long term plans and I imagine that entails an endless chain of finding and motivating the right people for whatever endeavor arises be it mates to sail with or volunteers to guide thru repairs and maintenance. This is for life 🥂
@@samiamm5764 Very true. Leo is a first-class ambassador for the values of the country of his origin, and It would be good to see more in and from his fellow Brits. My point is that when complete, Tally Ho will represent a fair amount of real estate. None of which could have happened without an enormous amoin5 of contributions from many, which Leo acknowledges in each video. However, for legal reasons, some person or entity will have to take ownership and Leo, to the best of my knowledge, has never made it clear who that will be.
@@jonathanrichards593 That is stating the obvious, and legally he could probably put the vessel on the open market when complete and pocket the proceeds. Somehow I do not think that will happen. It would be good to know what he has in mind regarding the long-term usage and ownership of what, considering its provenance, will not be simply another rich man's indulgence.
@@tomarmstrong1281 I consider my contributions donations and imagine that a small piece of wood inside the keel belongs to me. Leo may keep this piece of keel forever in his boat, I lend it to him for my lifetime, after which he shall inherit it. Nevertheless, he is the owner of this boat in my eyes, no law is necessary to convince me of that.
Beautiful work, lovely to see Leo doing some of the handiwork. Leo’s emotion as he starts to think about the forward plan for the boat, launching, voyages is palpable. It’s an amazing journey and project he’s been on, this is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable channels on RUclips.
Truly a visionary in control of a fluid project that is always growing and moving around. As much patience as myself as a machinist/fabricator of steel. No stone not turned is the right way to speak of this build.
The carving shows us that Leo has yet another skill to add to his rather long list. I think, after the “Gold plated” comment in another visit to flip a boat, you need to go with a bit of gold leaf. I think it would be fitting of a beautiful boat, and really not ostentatious.
The end of a phase of life is in sight. A major event in the lives of many people - you Leo, all the many folks who have been a part of the crew, and even us Patreons and RUclips viewers who have helped to fund the project. No one will forget this for the rest of their lives. The boat will be a great result, but it is in the "Doing of the Thing" that is where the true value lies - for you, the crew, even us viewers. The experiences had, experience gained and the memories of those will stay with all and are worth far more to far more people in the end than a mere boat (however well found) for a likeable fellow from England. Many, many thanks from the Peanut Gallery. (While you're at it, we need to see more funny "commercials" with Paddy in a dress and chainsawing a front door into Tally Ho!)
Hurray, you've stopped saying the boat will be finished in 2 years! Looking forward to seeing arctic tundra and tropical isles off the bow. And yes to the 2027 Fastnet race.
Awesome progress Leo! I can remember the first time you went aboard and went down below and saw the condition. You have come so far. I am retired from doing this type work when I was partners with another guy and know what’s involved! I know how hard it is to get qualified people to work on wooden boats these days and can’t believe the talented people that you have been working with. You are very lucky and I couldn’t be happier for you. You have poured your life into this project Leo and it shows. Tally Ho has turned into a beautiful vessel thanks to you and the crew that has helped all along. Hats off to you buddy. 👍👍👍👍
Just LOVE the carving!!!! My choice would be black as it would set it off against the white. Regarding launch date, don't be pressured you have come a long way and I for one am thoroughly enjoying every video. Just can't get enough.
Can't believe she'll be in the water in less than two years now. The carving here is beautiful. I had noticed the arrow head details in the interior, but had no idea they were inspired by the original exterior detail. Would love to come to the open house, but don't think that's in the cards this time. It's a lovely piece of history that you are lucky to be the steward of, and doing a magnificent job of it. Thanks for sharing!
I cannot convey the amount of respect I have for you, and your team. The level of wood working skills you guys have is second to none. You've done a truly amazing job under sometimes difficult conditions. I for one, would be interested in watching another of your walk through and update videos.
You deserve a RUclips Emmy Award for your commercials. We fast forward through every other RUclips channels’ commercials. On your channel we look forward to the commercials. We are also in awe of your boatwright skills.
No one who knows the history and trials that you have endured in restoring this beautiful sailing yacht would have a second thought if you gave her the gold leaf that she deserves. There is not a bit of over austentatiousness about it. It would just give her that touch of flare that would serve her well. Go for it!
@@Breezely Gold leaf is microns thick, partially transparent. It's laid over a coloured size as both an adhesive and a backing colour. It's not particularly expensive, set against the rest of the investment in Tally Ho, but despite gold being very stable, as a coating gold leaf is not particularly durable. Everything Leo has done with Tally Ho is chosen first and foremost for durability. A simpler, more reliable, and easily repainted coating seems to me to be to be in keeping with the other choices Leo has made.
I am sure you won't, but don't hurry, we won't abandon you if you don't rush to satisfy the part-timers who may try to hurry you up. This job is too important to rush. Take the time it needs and get it right. We'll still be here watching you.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Tally Ho is respected and maintained for the next two hundred years as if you were the owner. Many thanks for all the enjoyment you and your crew have provided.
You’re living Zeno’s paradox. No matter how much is left to do, you have to reach that halfway point first. It probably feels like you’ll never see the end. That’s fine for us. More Saturday videos!
Leo, I just want to thank you for taking me on this journey with you. I started watching in the beginning when I was recovering from knee surgery and I have learned so much from y'all and the great work you all have done. This is an Amazing experience which I have shared with others. I wish I had the time to come out and help but for now, I'm really enjoying the rebuild. Keep rolling Brother, She Looks amazing..
Its been a long project, but well worth the work. Leo, you have a hand built boat, you and friends built... great job! I'm in northwest Colorado and plan on coming for the launch. I've been a patreon from the beginning. Keep on brother. Great carving work. The precision y'all do in building Tally Ho is seriously impressive.
The first 95% of the work takes 95% of the time, and the last 5% of the work takes 95% of the time. It will be done in 2 more years. Love what you are doing. Look forward to seeing her afloat.
Leo, thanks for the reminder, launch day will simply be the start of the next stage of the Tally Ho adventure, your travels. You often express your gratitude to us but what we get in return, sharing the day-to-day work, progress, and laughter leaves me feeling like the lucky one.
So glad to see you adding beauty to Tall Ho. Love to see working Leo hands on. I got hooked on your story when you were alone and used a fork lift to pull the huge planks into the hull all by yourself, alone. The first two years showed so much focus, determination and cleverness, I was inspired to up scale the refit I was doing on my own fiberglass sailboat. You started restoring an old vessel and built a community along the way that is simply amazing, and marvelous, and totally your own fault for your dedication, respect to history, and craftsmanship, and respect to your team members. I love how the channel has grown and how your team has evolved, and so glad you share the journey in videos. I hope to personally attend the launch in September.
Gold leaf plating on those carvings is to me what in the past stood for success, beauty and craftsmanship. Not over the top but just enough to show with how much love this boat was build.
I am continually impressed by the quality of craftsmanship that has been built into this boat from stem to stern. You and your team are each remarkable artisans and professionals.
Detail work not only increases the monetary value but also the pleasure it gives one's self every time you behold it with seeing and touching ... history makes it more gratifying as.well ...❤❤❤😊😊😊
I so love how you really put a lot of thought into everything you do for Tally Ho. The details small or large are so beautiful and well done. I totally understand and agree that the longer you can work on her in your current location the better it will be in the long run.
My comment, for what it is worth! having watched from almost the beginning is that gold leaf is absolutely the right way to go. Tally Ho has been built before my eyes to the HIGHEST standards. You will likely find that the overwhelming majority of your enchanted followers will agree. Don't waste any mental energy trying to think of an alternative. It will be one with the boat.
So inspirational to see this much progress...and the results are awesome ! Having operated the "Lone Pine" Boat Yard in Wilmington, CA I've witnessed many old-boat restorations. Shipwrights like Warren Tweedy, Ed Harrison, Joel Andrews, Jim Clove, Jerry Capehart, Ken Baxter, did some of their best work here. I'm now in my eighties and watching those "artists" working their magic on Tally Ho gives me a warm feeling to see these skills being preserved !
gold leaf cove lines are pretty common in sailing as you should know, and its not really that expensive. I dont think anyone could fault you for using it, its a great boat and you have a lot to be proud of in all the work done to rebuild her. 1910 was of course the Gilded Age, so it is historically appropriate.
Leo!!! I cannot believe you I was here since episode 4, its been 5 years!, nos in the intro you say a few years back😢. I am so proud and happy the achievements and friends you have made along the way. Since you started having friends all over the world and pining their countries on the map I wanted to go and help, buy never had the chance.... and I am more than happy to join every saturday and look al9ng the process. And I am more than happy. Cheers, and good luck with the last remaining touches
Gold-leaf cove lines would make for a well-deserved treat for the old girl! (Aside, of course, from the incredible rebuild by a very skilled team with a top-notch leader!)
I must ensure I am safely seated when watching your videos of late because I hold my breath for so long, risking falling over, as I watch you (& team) cut/drill into finished work! 😊 It is so exciting that launch plans are slowly but surely firming up ..
By far Leo, your videos are what I look forward to the most on RUclips. Everything y'all do is pretty much some of the finest carpentry that I watch, and I'm in the trades. What I would like to see is some mistakes, and your work arounds, and how you might use different tools to handle unique situations. What else do y'all have in your bag of tricks? Awesome craftsmanship. Tally Ho is going to be a dream to sail....and maintenance will be a joy with all for thought put into the build.
Hi Leo, please do another walk around the boat. So much has been done and accomplished that I love to see what and what the state of all the projects are! Thanks in advance! I used to (in my younger years) sail on a wooden pilot cutter on the North sea and Dover channel, so I'm really jealous, but also proud that you build this beautiful ship. Lot of luck with Tally Ho! Arthur
You should pitch your story to a documentarian to capture your return to the regatta that Tally Ho won almost 100 years ago. It would be absolutely fascinating.
I would not be expecting Tally Ho to repeat her placing in the coming fastnet Race, modern boat design and modern materials have moved the goalposts for performance a long way. But you never know, we may get the weather that gave Tally Ho a win last try, so utterly foul that almost all the other competitors broke, or gave up. Good though her design is, she is above all a seaworthy boat, and like the last time she'll complete the course, whatever the conditions. Modern boats may be faster, but that design is unbelievably tough.
In my opinion there should be some goldleaf as a token of all the beautiful craftsmanship that has gone into this piece of art by you and your team. Gold leaf is very, very thin but it shines!. Just a little of it would be pointing this out for future generations to remember that dedication and perseverance pays off 😊😇👍👍👍🙏
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ the carving. Let’s not forget that you can never directly look at the port side and the starboard’s side at the same time. Only YOU will ever know any tiny differences between them. 😂😂😂 I am so happy for you, I truly am!!!! ❤️
An amazing and talented old world craftsman reincarnated into the 21st Century. As a retired educator, I have a smile in my heart for your passion Leo 14:41 . You are the essence of what it means to ‘teach’. Thst us the ability to present information so well that the students want to take the information and build on it themselves. You Sir, have a God given gift and direction in life. And we are all blessed to observe your work and art.
Leo, I think back to when you used to say that the launch was "another 2 years away", and in saying that you also said that was not a deadline, but a guess as to how much work remained. I have no idea how much work remains, but I appreciate your candor in reminding all of us that there is much, much, much more work to do. Still, as you say, it is very exciting to hear you say the word, "Launch." Thanks for the focus of today's video - with all of the progress, it is important to temper expectations.
Beautiful carving job. Everything that has gone into Tally Ho is befitting a fine classic yacht- from the breathtaking varnished teak joinery to the copious custom, polished bronze floors, knees and fittings. I hope you give her what she deserves with the proper gold leaf. It's not ostentatious, it's correct. Nothing enhances carved scrollwork on a wooden boat like real gold leaf. You may not think yourself as a "yachtsman" but Tally Ho is a yacht and you are a first-rate yacht restorer and now a yacht owner. That being said, I think your judgement is spot-on, so whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be done well and look great.
Hello Leo, thank you for another lovely video. There's two comments I'd like to make, Gold leaf for your carvings is an excellent idea and the quality of your work deserves that kind of respect, considering that the rebuilt Tally Ho has become a work of marine art. The second comment speaks to your concern that we "Patron viewers" want you to launch before the project is completed and I do not believe that is true and isn't a concern at all. I love to watch your videos of all the wonderful people recreating the new Tally Ho. I also supported another channel building a sailboat and they launched too early and are struggling to complete the many tasks left undone and that beautiful boat now looks a mess and might never be completed because they now live on it. When you choose an action, you choose the consequences of that action. Even though I've never met you, I feel that I do know you and want the best for you today and tomorrow. Cheers from Canada.
Gold would be perfect... Tally Ho has Earned it's Gold.. Love how this is turning out.. been watching almost from the start.. Can't wait to follow you on adventures at sea.
I had to triple take when Leo was talking about timelines. Wild to look back on all the progress and realize how much work is ongoing to bring about a successful finish for Tally Ho!
I am a fan of gold leaf in that carving. But if not, as decently dark color is fine. Those Albert Strange carvings are also reminiscent of waves and ripples. Good work, as always. Also, another walk around video would be great.
I divide my life up into “eras”. It helps me make sense of it all. I can see this is an era that is edging towards its close. From what you’ve said here I think you are on the same page as me. The moment the boat leaves the shed, she will start to deteriorate. I would finish the hull 100% before rollout. Then get her outside, put up the masts and the rigging, get her in the water and begin the sea trials. Do NOT do the same as Steve at A2A. He launched an incomplete boat, and look at the result. He’s motor sailing everywhere (until this week), the inside of his boat looks like a bomb has gone off in there (I suspect this will not improve very much) and he is visibly stressing out. I think the path you set out here is much better, the videos you make will be better, and you won’t have the stress of introducing visitors and followers inside a space that looks like a bomb site. Thanks for the video as always and good luck.
Hi,I will be following no matter how long it takes,I as well as many others thoroughly enjoy your channel.cheers Roly 🇬🇧.PS I think “Tally Ho”deserves gold leaf.
Well, there it is...not much time left before launch for anyone to catch up on past episodes, starting with June 15, 2017...what a fabulous journey this has been, so far. Thank you, Leo and the village you have created along the way.
Leo, Me here, from New Hampshire. Just to let you know. I have memorized every nook and cranny of Tally Ho. I don't really need to visit. But there is what I "wish for." I wish for you to get that boat rigged and on the water sailing away from Port Townsend. Yea. Yr going to have to make a break for it. And then. Who would you take along? The very most successful You Tube activities ~ Always an adventure. Bicycling, "Off Grid" building, Camping, Farming/Homesteading, all are based on the (content provider's) Personal life. So often a "nice young couple." So often Leo ~ true success has to do with the family. So there. I said it. Ok now. Carry on Man. Carry on. On and On and On. ✨🌸✨
3:55pm EST 8/5/23 I’m so thrilled for you all, and the tremendous progress you’ve achieved so far. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to participate in the boat race in 2027, the 100th anniversary her previous win. Anyway, again, congratulations to all! P.S.- It would be a dream to meet you all and come see Talley-Ho “in person”. Would love more details about making that possible as they become available.
I'm of two completely different minds: one hoping for continued perfection to the day she's done and the other that the finish date will always be "two years" from now, no matter what "now" we are discussing. It's hard to imagine Saturday nights without tracking Tally Ho's progress. Bless you all for the inspiration.
This captured my imagination, and I have been watching for (a couple years?) now. I have to look to see whre I started watching.
Just checked, came in around episode 22, 5 years!
Absolutely one of the finest channels on RUclips, with an amazing and inspiring project.
😵💫 Set it free...
In a world where younger generations have few examples of the worthiness of high craft, I hope Tally Ho inspires folk to sustain these skilled trades.
If Tally Ho races 100 years later in the race it won….that is wonderful. No matter the vehicle, that is epic.
Yes, and I have a feeling if the stars line up, he might just win it too... but winning isn't that important, it's the participation that counts...
How many boats can say they sailed that race 100 years after winning
I believe he I'd planning on doing that
@@step4560 Yeah. It would be VERY unlikely he'd win but I would bet a lot of money on participation in the 2027 Fastnet.
“I don’t have much carving experience” then promptly nails a beautiful carving. A true craftsman.
Compared to 14:41 early videos, there is totally another Man speaking today next to Tally Ho...
you knocked it out of the ball part with the fair line motif carving. Leo you have the best ever RUclips build chanel. Bar none.

I agree with Leo about gold leaf being a tad ostentatious for this boat - English understatement speaks volumes.
My heart skipped a beat when Leo said, "One thing I can say for sure is, I do intend to sell this boat..." What?! As he continued his sentence, I realized he was saying, "I do intend to SAIL this boat on some long voyages..." 10:16
English is funny sometimes, ain't it?

Make your biddings... we're starting at a million U$!
LOL, close one eh.
Yes, another walk around would be great!
This detailed hand carving work deserves a full length no narration video. I would watch it beginning to end. The kids call it ASMR.
Watching Tally Ho's progress week by week is one my favorite thing to do. Thanks guys. I do miss the parrot.
Please don't rush the build, this beautiful boat deserves the best. We will continue to support, even if it takes longer than expected!
I overlook the Solent, Totland Bay, I can't wait to see her race past me. Hopefully a calmer start than this years race!
Hopefully they take part in the 2027 race. For a bit of poetry
Wonderfully said. This project will last hundreds of years if properly cared for. Leo will see to that, I am sure.
And to those that build it at it's 1st iteration.
@@petert3355 Said: "Personally, I'd go with Leo's favourite colour. Just a small personal touch that most would not recognise."
I concur, it's the little things that carry the best stories over time.
Personally I’d be tempted to do just the front arrow in gold and paint the rest…
So the answer to "when will you launch" is no longer 2 years? Fantastic!
I feel sure that Albert Strange would have been very proud to have seen his boat come to life again.
@@kyleballing Is it still expensive if you can do the work yourself!
I went to your channel to see if a video had come out today, and it hadn’t. Then 10 seconds later I got a notification that you put out a new video. 🤣
She deserves that tribute of a touch of gold as tribute to her and the skill and tenacity of her builder family.
It was a sign of the Captain`s sucess in Napoleanic Times, so Gold for Leo!
Launch day will be bittersweet for me but probably a massive shift for you. Feel free to extend out this journey as long as you like!
As a wood carver, it was fascinating to see your artful bow and stern decorative carvings. You did a beautiful job! ⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️👏👏👏
it absolutely deserves the gold leaf
Hi Tally Ho, I grew up on Long Island Sound at Norwalk CT. Our family were engaged in sign making and boat lettering. We serviced most of the boatyards in the area from 1936-1987. Applied gold leaf cove stripes and transom names to unaccountable yachts including many Herreshoffs. Great childhood and partial adulthood. Blessings and good luck.
While I would love to see Tally Ho floating on her own, I'm in no rush to see that day. I look forward to seeing all kinds of craftsmanship and talent displayed every week.
Golden seems like a fitting color for your signature hand carvings and it’s look great on camera
@@tomarmstrong1281 I don't think there's any doubt. Leo paid the $1 purchase price, and is clearly the owner of Tally Ho!
You've earned all that support by producing such great videos of rebuilding Tally Ho. It's a fascinating process and a joy to watch.
It always amazes me how skilled you are Leo. Nice work on the carving.
You’re lovely Leo, we’ll done making your dream come true.
She should float....hopefully. 😂 Love it. We have faith in you and your team, Leo.
Yes the recaps are the best! Do one a month to show what hasn’t been featured. Love the work you’ve completed, Leo.
Gold leaf would look great.
I don't think it would look as good as using dark paint - black even - for contrast.
@@AndyM_323YYY Gold goes with everything. Dark paint would look great too.
I know he's probably listening to a podcast, but I can't help but imagine Leo listening to the banjo music as he does the carving.
Looks great!
Outstanding description; “90% done with 90% to go!” 😊 Love the videos, please keep them coming!
Go for it!
Gold leaf would be great. How much would it cost?
I'm just not sure about gold leaf and salt water!.
High quality gold paint of some kind will suit it fine & the money saved will be better spent elsewhere (IMO)
@@ogribiker8535 Gold is unaffected by salt water, though I'm not sure what adhesive would be used with it.
Go with the gold leaf! It’s a million dollar boat that deserves top finishes!
You’re living Zeno’s paradox. No matter how much is left to do, you have to reach that halfway point first. It probably feels like you’ll never see the end. That’s fine for us. More Saturday videos!
He's already doing the Ship of Theseus, can't go adding Zeno's paradox to that 😆
Don't rush the launch date then you will be in the same unfinished state as is the case with another You-tuber boat builder.
With Arabella Launched and Tally Ho eventually winding down/up , I guess Orca (Louis Sauzedde) is gonna be my last hand built boat obsession!
The first 95% of the work takes 95% of the time, and the last 5% of the work takes 95% of the time. It will be done in 2 more years. Love what you are doing. Look forward to seeing her afloat.
Very nice job carving Leo.
My hats off to you🎉
Leo, thanks for the reminder, launch day will simply be the start of the next stage of the Tally Ho adventure, your travels.
Ain't it the truth!
As a boat builder for more than half my life, that sounds like a perfect schedule for such a boat. Keep up the amazing work.
Leo Once again the WISH LIST is EMPTY !
Arthur
Ahhh, please do gold leaf in the carvings, Tally Ho is the pride of RUclips after all!
You should pitch your story to a documentarian to capture your return to the regatta that Tally Ho won almost 100 years ago. It would be absolutely fascinating.
...what do you think you're watching right now?
@@alexdyke194what I was thinking too 😂
I would not be expecting Tally Ho to repeat her placing in the coming fastnet Race, modern boat design and modern materials have moved the goalposts for performance a long way.
That light at the end of the tunnel... some bugger with a list & a torch!
“Hey, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel”! ….. “Oh crap, that’s a train coming the other direction”!!
Right after i get off night shift, nice
Leo, I think back to when you used to say that the launch was "another 2 years away", and in saying that you also said that was not a deadline, but a guess as to how much work remained. I have no idea how much work remains, but I appreciate your candor in reminding all of us that there is much, much, much more work to do. Still, as you say, it is very exciting to hear you say the word, "Launch." Thanks for the focus of today's video - with all of the progress, it is important to temper expectations.
As a musical instrument maker who doesn't do a lot of carving, admirable work!
Kudos to you and your team. All the best from rainy Vienna, Scott
I have to say as you have already built a "gold plater" she certainly deserves the gold leaf inlay.
I am thrilled to hear your Fastnet plans, that is the number one thing I was hoping to see Tally Ho do in the future!
100% my feeling as well. I feel bad for that other crew. They seem very stressed.
I’m so thrilled for you all, and the tremendous progress you’ve achieved so far. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to participate in the boat race in 2027, the 100th
anniversary her previous win.
