I have also found that a wheat free diet helps my AS symptoms, I don’t avoid all starches had never considered that potato might be affecting my AS, interesting subject thanks for presenting it. And hello from New Zealand.

Wow! I love the international reach of RUclips! Hello from Canada. Yes, potatoes is one of the worst things for AS. Here is a video that is the most helpful in understanding the science behind it. The Dr. interviewed is the doctor that did the initial breakthrough research. He's humble and gives the medical world the benefit of the doubt but here he shares how he discovered the link with starch and AS. ruclips.net/video/CV9KHSxvAAk/видео.html

From which sources i get protein

Nice video, but unfortunately no starch doesn’t work for me with AS. I tried a no starch diet for 10 months straight. I cooked everything I ate from raw ingredients, so literally no starch. I lost A LOT of weight, I had to eat much more protein to feel full, but I still had lots of joint pain, also SI joint for me. I had low energy most of the time.
I ate lots of vegetables and fruit as well as eating a bit more meat & fish.
I went into this extreme diet under supervision of a clinical nutritionist. No starch diet did not work for me for managing ankylosing spondylitis, I’m now under treatment with adalimumab and finally have my life back.

Well I think that's great that you gave it a good shot. My main thing is that the natural approach should be offered as an option to people. Unfortunately most of the medical world will not entertain the idea even though for many people, like myself, it has made all the difference.

Make sure your vegetables weren’t starchy and really uptick your protein from animal sources. Fixing your gut bacteria and it’s equilibrium is the paramount thing, as well as exercising

Hello Daniel! What are your experiences on dairy products? After i got diagnosed having a AS this summer i went to ketogenic diet and it helped quite a bit but would still have little stiffness at mornings sometimes at late evening but was able to sleep. At the time i was still putting milk in to my coffee, but then i wanted to try coffee without a milk because i thought it could help and it helped me even more. My first symptoms were about 5 years ago at one summer but after that summer everything went back to normal at the time i related my issues on hips to the running and cardio that i was doing alot.

I know what you're going through. When this happens to me I take some NSAIDs (with a meal) and hop into a warm epsom salt bath. Movement is good for blood flow but you might not be able to until the NSAIDs kick in. They are a temporary fix though. Going forward you have to stay away from the trigger foods.
