I'm really proud of myself for that title since it can be interpreted in two ways. You'll know what I mean once you watch THE FULL video. I'll know if you only watch part of it. Anyways, today I walk the audience through a typical evangelism scenario and how I would navigate. The message is simple but getting the conversation started and overcoming a person's misconceptions takes time. But like...

Ankylosing Spondylitis can be managed with diet !!!
Thank you for this information. Dietary changes do matter. Subscribed
doesn't knoiw the difference btweeb refined and real, whole, gluten-free grains and trauma, psyche.
Thanks for this. I found keto low carb just wasn’t enough. Carnivore is really making the difference…. Early days. NSAIDS not tolerated.
Do carnivore diet. Worked for me
Fruit in very small amounts personally
Rubbish fruit glucose fructose certain veg .. each case is different
Rice? But it is stark, too. Voltaren is not for me because I´m anemic. A lot of green vegetables is good, No sugar.
Glad to see there is hope my joints are painful 😢 thanks for the tips started keto a few weeks ago
So let me add that you are primarily trying avoid resistant starch. So for example if you eat rice, it needs to be freshly cooked and not cooled or reheated. The author replies to a comment where he suffered a flare due to eating rice crispy treats. Rice crispies would be high in resistant starch. Klebsiella is indicated in the reason why the diet works. Klebsiella feeds on resistant starches that make it far enough through the digestive tract without being broken down and absorbed.
6 years after this video i am rediscovering this... and how to eat properly.
I did starch free for over a decade. Now, I more to straight carnivore. List doctors with YT videos Dr. Chaffey Dr. Berry Dr. Baker Dr. Wiedeman Dr. Jay Wortman Or Makayla Peterson Laura Spath
Just stop eating ALL grains and packaged foods.
Totally!

I am a personal trainer with Ankylosing Spondylitis and diet absolutely plays a powerful role. Everyone is different but what has helped me is reduction in sugar, gluten, and wheat. Running on keto/low carb for the most part has helped me with fatigue also.
Watch this interview with Dr. Allan Ebringer to understand the science of what is causing the autoimmune reaction. It's very helpful. ruclips.net/video/CV9KHSxvAAk/видео.html
All grains contain forms of gluten. Don't eat grains!! Works for me and I have AS.
I don't suggest corn or rice. In fact NO GRAINS is best. Rice contains Orzenin and Corn contains Zein both are gluten mimicking proteins and cause sugar spikes and inflammation. I have AS, I know from my own experience. Best of health to all!
I have AS , great advice!
I try to avoid the medication if I can. The diet is really not that restrictive. But some people have to be stricter
Why do you say avoid wheat flour but rice, corn and oat? I think rice, corn and oat are also starch?
Yes absolutely. It seems that I can handle a little starch. In the foods themselves I don't have an issue. In their powdered forms it starts to bother me. Some people with AS can't handle any starch.
I know your right “that is so many things, l know sugar is bad too , l am diabetic too so l have some neuropathy a long with the Ankylosis Spondylitis , if l eat sugar it will start my fingers to tingling, the pain is unbearable l have numbness in different ares ok the body , and the terrible pain from Ankylosis Spondylitis in my neck shoulders mid back and lower back , all kinds of other symptoms like brain fog fatigue syndrome hearing loss red and blurry eye sight probably combination of neuropathy and ankylosis Spondylitis, it’s funny how what you eat has an effect on these things , thank you for your information 🙏💙🙏❤️
Avoid eggs, all meat and dairy. They are all major inflammatory and trouble "foods" full of additives, fat, and cholesterol that burden your system. They are NOT okay to eat!
AS is an autoimmune condition with specific triggers. Your advice might be good for someone with general inflammation but doesn't apply to my condition. Trust me I've lived with AS for about 9 years now and I'm managing it very well :)
What is your facebook/instagram?
Not had an issue with potatoes. All grains are out though.
Hello. Can you please update what you are doing now, in 2022? did you continue with your diet and what improvements have you seen in five years? Thank you and good health to you!!!
Hey! Thanks for your comment. My current diet is pretty much the same. I have zero pain most of the time. I've had a few flares when I accidentally ate the wrong thing or had too much of something I could only tolerate a little of (for example rice crispy squares last summer 😅). It seems that most people need to be stricter. I've found that if I'm flared up I can't handle sugar either. It's like gasoline on a small fire. But if I'm not flared sugar is fine.
Thsnks for helping buddy its really great help and indeed. I had this As disease since 7 years from very beginning it was a really hard task for me but i managed not to use pain killers drinking 2 glasses of warm water is great helpful before eating breakfast in morning little worried for my weight loss at last i manged to cure the disease 60 percent exercising and diet is most important thing that u should do it every day. From which sources i get protein
Exercise, especially heavy weightlifting (squats and deadlift) really helped me tremendously. I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis in 2012, two years after my first hip pain sypmpton, and I was told I already had bone erosions on both of my sacroiliac joints. I was then prescribed with Sulfasalazine . . . . After realizing that this medication could potentially give me irreversible side effects relating to the reproductive system, I stopped using it. And at that time, I started to realize that heavy squats usually alleviate my hip pain the next day, and heavy deadlifts usually alleviate my lower back pain. So I not only kept weightlifting as my daily routine but also decided to jack up the weights. In 2019, 7 years after my initial diagnosis and 10 years after the onset of any symptoms, a different rheumatologist looked at my new x-ray results and could not even believe that I had AS, he said hadn't I told him my blood test result was positive for HLA-B27, he would've told me I was misdiagnosed in 2012. My joints are still very flexible, without any Olympic weightlifting training, I can do 155 lbs overheard squat for 8-10 reps. Back squat is usually around 350 lbs for 8 reps with a bodyweight of 176 lbs. Anyways, regular exercise is really the key for me, and it literally is me constantly battling against this illness. The pain almost always comes back if I stop my exercise routine for about two weeks or more.
Wow thanks for sharing! I'll do more heavy squats!
In my experience with AS, diet is not that influential on symptoms. Flares come and go as they please. I think people overstate the importance of diet to try to regain a sense of control of their body because this disease has a mind of its own. Not to say just let yourself go and have a bad diet, but you cannot rid yourself of flares by going gluten free, sugar free, etc. Have a good balanced diet but don’t go crazy with restrictions. Have a beer or a cookie once in a while and don’t blame it for your symptoms because it just isn’t true. It isn’t worth starving yourself and then also being in pain because you’re just double-punishing yourself! Exercise and medications (biologics) are the only real ways to manage this hell.
Hey Ben, I'm glad you have found a way that helps you with exercise and meds. I can tell you 100% that diet makes all the difference for me. If you're open to learning you can look up the findings of Dr. Alan Ebringer from the UK. The science behind what is happening with AS is really helpful to understand. In short, a certain bacteria feeds off of starch in our gut, our body sends an immune response, but our immune cells get confused and attack the collagen in our joints... certainly you can avoid this by turning off your immune system with biologic meds, or loading up on NSAIDS, but I have found that eliminating the bacteria's food source (starch) is the best for me. I exercise too but that is not nearly as important (for me) as diet is... But I've met people who say they can't stick to a diet so meds is best for them. For me the pain is the best motivation to cut starch from my diet. Blessings to you.
LOL "I wanted to quit while we were ahead".....I would have quit while I still had a head! 😆😅🤣
:P
I haven't been officially diagnosed yet, But i have been in horrible pain for 2 years especially my back 2 years before that i went through 10 surgery's due to abscesses i would get and xrays and ct's etc dont show anything. I made a call to a new chiro a friend recommended i dont go to them cuz i have had bad experiences but i thought i would give him a try Told him my story on the phone and he straight away mentioned AS which i have never ever heard before. So i researched and everything fits all to do now is to get the blood tests and go from there. I will say that i have had problems the last 20 years but they were manageable and always just put it down to sleeping in a bad position or pushing myself too hard at work. Over the last 2 years since it started it has gotten better to the point that i am able to do more during the day about 3/4 through sleeping and especially getting up in the morning are horrible until im able to walk it off a bit and have a warm shower but sometimes this doesn't help. I started Carnivore diet about 3 monthis ago though i have been consistant with in the hopes of stopping to get abscesses which has worked but inadvertently the pain in my back was less as well. So just saying everything fits and i am about to try carnivore and plan to be 100% more strict with it including removing the coffee i have in the morning. Wish me luck
I'm happy you're finally on the right track. The fact that movement helps is another sign it's AS and not you joints. In some ways a positive blood test result is a relief. Then you can focus on treating it. All the best 👍 thanks for your comments
Is there anything I can do this is an emergency situation I'm in so much pain took me almost 2 hours to get to the bathroom and it's under 20 ft away
I know what you're going through. When this happens to me I take some NSAIDs (with a meal) and hop into a warm epsom salt bath. Movement is good for blood flow but you might not be able to until the NSAIDs kick in. They are a temporary fix though. Going forward you have to stay away from the trigger foods. Rice was on your "don't eat" list...AND your "do eat" list. Also...corn is full of starch. This is not helpful.
Rice is ok for me but rice starch I stay away from. This diet might not be strict enough for some people. It's a learning process so might need updating. Please read the description for other helpful resources
Thank you much. I'm 39yo male. 6ft6in. Have been in pain for 3 years and the orthopedic surgeons were stumped. Either said I have phantom pain or didn't know why and threw their hands up. A really good chiropractor diagnosed me with hla 27 w/ AS. I'm very suspect of alcohol and chocolate as well. Thanks for your video. I was told that 7% of Caucasians have A.S. And 90% of those who have it will go thru life without symptoms and without knowing they have it. So it sucks that I'm 10% of the 7% wow that's super rare. I am also gluten allergic so rice and corn is important to me.

Please where did you hear that 90% have no symptoms? I have a diagnosis based on MRI but have no symptoms, but I’m pretty worried. I’m 50. Thank you.
You can definitely manage AS with diet! However I find corn and oats are definitely not good for me because of their starch.
I'm glad you figured that out!
Boommmm!🤣🤣🤣🤣

Get rid of your belly fat. It’s caused by cytokine storm. Chocolate doesn’t bother me but peanut butter sure does. Corn is very high in sugar.

@@UCGQxaPJEpm5l-zH0Qkmq_bQ if apple good for AS since it has sugar in it? Also, I recently bought grape seed extract for anti-inflammation. I just noticed it had rice and flour as one of its ingredients. should i stop taking it? Also i thought rice was starch but you included it was one of the foods thats ok
Apples should be fine. Rice is debated. Some people are ok with it since it breaks down easily in the stomach. But even though I have been eating it with no problem I want to cut it out now since I'm experiencing a bad flare 😩. So to be safe you should avoid rice and all flours. I have also found that a wheat free diet helps my AS symptoms, I don’t avoid all starches had never considered that potato might be affecting my AS, interesting subject thanks for presenting it. And hello from New Zealand.
Wow! I love the international reach of RUclips! Hello from Canada. Yes, potatoes is one of the worst things for AS. Here is a video that is the most helpful in understanding the science behind it. The Dr. interviewed is the doctor that did the initial breakthrough research. He's humble and gives the medical world the benefit of the doubt but here he shares how he discovered the link with starch and AS. ruclips.net/video/CV9KHSxvAAk/видео.html
Along with that last reply please also check out the facebook group "The Low/ No Starch Diet for Ankylosing Spondylitis" I wish you well!
avoid rice wheat potato, ok so basically eat air
I like rice. Meat and veggies mostly. Diary and eggs too.
Nice video, but unfortunately no starch doesn’t work for me with AS. I tried a no starch diet for 10 months straight. I cooked everything I ate from raw ingredients, so literally no starch. I lost A LOT of weight, I had to eat much more protein to feel full, but I still had lots of joint pain, also SI joint for me. I had low energy most of the time. I ate lots of vegetables and fruit as well as eating a bit more meat & fish. I went into this extreme diet under supervision of a clinical nutritionist. No starch diet did not work for me for managing ankylosing spondylitis, I’m now under treatment with adalimumab and finally have my life back.
Well I think that's great that you gave it a good shot. My main thing is that the natural approach should be offered as an option to people. Unfortunately most of the medical world will not entertain the idea even though for many people, like myself, it has made all the difference.
Im also trying a whole foods diet but im struggling, pain makes me want comfort foods
@@MzzPHATTY I personally use NSAIDS to get through painful flares but wean off of them as soon as possible. Fatty meats can satisfy that appetite potentially. Praying for your recovery.
Make sure your vegetables weren’t starchy and really uptick your protein from animal sources. Fixing your gut bacteria and it’s equilibrium is the paramount thing, as well as exercising
You met Paul Washer? Or was that bit in the beginning a metaphor. Appreciate your stuff Daniel!
Haha thanks, Trevor! No, it's a fictitious story. Many of us Millennial Christians are familiar with the "shocking sermon" on RUclips that put Paul Washer on the map. I was referencing his famous line "I don't know why you're clapping, I'm talking about you", where he rebukes the crowd of teens. Have you seen that one before?
