I am so very happy to say that we are leaving California this weekend and headed to South Idaho. SO looking forward to the big move. Will be nice to leave this place behind and begin a new adventure. Our whole family is very excited. But I'm still keeping my 'remote' job of booking reservations for our La Jolla Beach vacation rental management company - will just have to visit the houses in my memories.

I miss Fred Meyer! I grew up in Salem, Oregon. I remember when Fred Meyer expanded from Portland. They opened two stores in my town. My dad became the South Salem Fred Meyer first garden store manager. We had Fred Goldmeyer over to our house for dinner. I remember regularly seeing him in the stores.

Mindy Mom is one of my favorite cooking channels! She is so down to earth.
I’ve got the old school washer and dryer and they’ve lasted for so long, but I’m the only one in my household, and I don’t always get out of my pjs since I don’t get out often since I don’t work. I’ve had them for 13 years, and my washer was a hand-me-down from my sister. My water heater, on the other hand, had to be replaced last year, and was only 12 years old.

Last month, on holiday, I walked along miles of canals and looked at all the boat names. Considering they were canal boats, my favourite name was Argy Bargy! Also saw one that was my mum’s name which was nice, but Argy Bargy made me laugh out loud… walking along the canal on my own laughing to myself like a crazy person!
What a fun trip! Being from Orange County, I was so envious! Del Taco was my first employer when I was 16 :) Most of my paycheck went back to Del Taco since I love their food so much. Great fries, for sure. Thanks for sharing.
So … boats. My son-in-law has a friend who buys houses/cars/boats to flip. So sil bought a 28’ boat for 2k and spent much of a year working on it (which he LoVes). Now that it’s done, beautiful and powerful, he can sell it for $20,000. But my daughter and grands are all loving it so we’ll see what happens. Just like with frugal anything - it depends on how you go about doing it!

Also, historian, Ruth Goodman, once said that the biggest labour saving device (and I believe she was speaking specifically for women), is the washing machine. And, having seen how it gets done without one, I totally agree!

I LOVE that you went to Ralph’s. It’s a “fancy” Kroger store… like Smith’s. The cheap Kroger here is Food 4 Less. I have shopped at many Ralph’s over the last few decades in SoCal. In my experience, the best deals are found in the most expensive neighborhoods. Maybe the people there are just buying whatever they want and are not so excited about chicken thighs so they end up on Wow! I would call my boat the “Safari So Goodie”

I play the same game, haha, "What do these people do for a living???" I grew up 8 miles from Laguna Beach. My friends and I would spend every day (almost!) at Laguna Main beach in the 70's during summer vacation. It was a cute little 'artist' town back then. It really has grown.
I'm glad you had a luxurious experience with other content creators. This looks like an amazing vacation. My adult kids live in Laguna and to answer your question they are software developers. They own (not mortgaged) their place and work from home on their own schedules. I visit often and love it there.

Haha My bag always gets flagged by TSA. I like to bring back snacks from different places. One time TSA pulled me to the side and had to be searched twice and swabbed twice because I set off the alarm. I used baby powder that morning on a rash and that’s what set off the alarm.

I should shop at that Ralph's; the prices and markdowns appear to be better than my store. I enjoy trying vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, paleo, etc foods. I've lived in California all my life (almost 32 years) and yes California is amazing 😍 there's so many places I still need to visit! We have so many great outdoor/nature places.

Those must be fishing boats from what I saw and small sail boats and small yachts.
My cousin does her own sail boat business in Alaska and she does it from Seward, Alaska where it is mainly a fishing town. My cousins buy boats and renovate them as well she fix up three of her boats and used for her business.
Unfortunately, I do not know how much she pays for the boats, but it is a lot.

We own a hammock with a stand... However ours is anchored in all four corners so it doesn't flip over. The males in my family love it.

Californian born here, relocated to the midwest when I married. California is nice, but it gets quite boring when all of the seasons are exactly the same. Then you throw in the insane price of absolutely everything, and the traffic is crazy ridiculous. I used to travel for work from Irvine to downtown Los Angeles. On a good day, it was an hour drive. On a bad day 1 1/2-2 hours ONE WAY. The authentic variety of foods, amazing!
TSA Precheck is soooooooo totally worth it! And it was crazy that it seemed like you were the only one videoing :). Love it
