Don't forget to include Haley in learning about cars! My dad taught me growing up and it saved me when my car died on a freeway in Seattle. I changed my own fuel filter.
Amen. She needs to know this stuff and her gender really shouldn't be a liability. EVERYONE at our house knows this stuff so they save buckeros and can get themselves out of bad situations. :D
I agree. Girls are left out of so many "boy" things, so they are dependent on men to do them. It's also important for boys to learn the "girl" stuff, and to be taught that there is no such thing as gender-specific tasks.
My husband taught our girls car maintenance and how to change their oil at 16. I posted some pictures of one of my girls changing her oil and it was surprising how many comments we got in that post. All very positive and that’s when we realized many kids don’t have those skills.
My daughter tells me that at school, classmates (jr high) will give her their fruit cups and other things because ‘it’s expired’. The date is often that day or very close to it.
I'm known for eating stuff after the date. I found a yoplait yogurt two years past the date & after a sniff test i ate it. It had fallen down behind the shelf. I don't buy that brand, I had brought it back from a hotel continental breakfast. Made me laugh and horrified my buddies! I buy store brand or Costco plain Greek yogurt and there's no way that would last.
My father wouldn't let any of his seven (5 girls) kids get a driver's license without knowing how to change a tire, check fluids, refill fluids, jump start a car, and back then roll/push start a car. So I'm sure you are going to teach all your kids. I'm almost 70 and those are skills I'm happy to have learned, especially in the days before cellphones.
I've seldom had to actually change a tire solo. Just getting out the jack, and removing the spare usually is enough time for someone to stop and offer to help. Actually, I usually have the manual open to were the right placement is for the jack stand. My Vega was kind of an odd one.
I come from a family of mechanics, 3 brothers, who have their own shop. Our Dad had started with a gas station after he had learned in the army. My Sisters and I had watched them all our lives. One day we got a flat tire. We decided to change it ourselves. We stood on the lug nut bar to get off the lug nuts and stripped them. Needless to say the boys told us never to fix anything on our own again. Just call them. To this day we just call them and they are fine with it! 🤣😂😄
The secret to a happy marriage; when my husband tells me how long a house job or project will take I immediately multiply it by three. 1 minute, 1 hour, 1 month, it doesn’t matter, multiply by three and domestic bliss is restored. 😂 We find it isn’t necessarily the task that takes time, it is learning how to do it and the trips to the store for extra supplies and the right tools.
This is assuming he has started the project at all. I’m not prone to nagging, but I kept pestering mine to please add a shelf in one of my kitchen cabinets because it was a nightmare to pull stacked pans and things out of this black hole. Finally, five years later he gets around to it and has the NERVE to tell me, “See? No big deal. It only takes fifteen minutes to do it.” 🤬 😂
Yall's chemistry is off the charts! So fun to watch you together:) I feel like in an alternate universe if yall were 2 characters in a sitcom, everyone would be screaming at the TV to just get together already:))
I agree about having the right tool for the job. Sometimes tools can be expensive, so I always borrow them or thrift them on Facebook! My city came out with a tool library where you can borrow tools so you don’t have to buy them! It’s such a great resource to have!
@@FrugalFitMom this video with your husband shows us how much you're truly in love with each other. Great video. I have a thing about staying in hotels it's got to be clean
Used furniture& good used cars are a blessing. I recover, sand & paint real wood household items. My '97 Plymouth Voyager van I've had for 3 years. Bought from a friend ($500).
100 Kudos to you both for your level of partnership, and willingness to go the frugal route together. As an objective observer (seriously, cuz I'm single, and watch a LOT of YT), it's interesting to see how couples interact on vid formats like this one. I literally can predict when a relationship is headed for trouble - even when it seems to be 'perfect' on the surface - by how the couple interacts during this type of vid. You guys get an A+ SOLID couple rating. You respect each other's speaking time, you seem to really listen to e/o responses and are genuinely supportive of e/o throughout the process. Sure, a little ribbing and what-not is par for the course, and part of being together for five-ever, totally normal. Thanks for sharing your frugal tips and your lives with us!
Loved this! I still get teased from my kids about when I, years ago, would wash my plastic bags and re-use them. Totally get the hotel thing. I always was trying to find the cheapest motel/hotel. Usually got burned. Final straw was when I booked a cheap motel room that was a “cabin” my son and husband went out of town to go hunting. My son called and was so upset at how bad it was. “Mom, you can see holes in the wall and see outside. The sink was disgusting, and it all smelled really bad.I called and told the manager they would not be staying there. He informed me we would be charged anyway. I said fine, do that , and I will make a phone call to the fire marshal , pretty sure you are not in code. Never got charged.
I had a motel experience like yours! I found a cheap hotel thru an online service in Fort Lauderdale for a friend & I. When we arrived there it was awful!!! So we walked around & found the neatest boutique hotel for not much more with a small kitchen. We bought food from the Dollar Store for meals, enjoyed some free passes for classes at a small local gym, enjoyed time on the beach & I attended a conference. My best gym story: my mom had a major fall/ hip fracture when at the beach with my sister. I was in major weight loss mode during that time (lost 200lbs) & a local gym near where I stayed allowed me to come for free for several weeks while my mom had to rehab down there when I explained the situation. I fully expected to pay. A nurse in the hospital even offered for us to stay in her home. I will NEVER forget the kindness of the people of Tallahassee! Love this video & the two of you together!
My husband has gotten some great power tools and other items with motors that don't work. He can fix almost anything with a motor. He worked repairing motors for over 40 years and had an electrician's license till he retired and we couldn't afford the cost of the insurance. He still does some side jobs and repairs things for people. You were talking about cheap hotels and I have to tell you about the America's Best in Marion, IL. Our son went and "checked it out" for us, because we were come down to visit from our home Tilton, IL. The room was filthy and there were bugs and I almost forgot, the door didn't latch. I got our money back and we checked into another hotel, Motel 6, I think. Much better. This video was so much fun.
You 2 are th best. Just good people in a rapidly changing unfriendlier world. I want us to stay in touch cuz when things get REALLY bad, I want to b in your area. I hav learned a lot from you. I even tell my adult kids about u. I'm sure they'r rolling their eyes but they hav reaped th benefits of your tips/teaching. So there! Bless your hearts.
Yo girl! Fellow Honda Pilot momma over here! 2011, bought it October of 2021 with $88K miles! We already drove it from Tulsa, OK to Daytona Beach, FL and it did GREAT! Love my Hondas.
We bought a used washer and dryer set for $150 fifteen years ago. It's still going strong! We found a 2012 Honda Pilot the end of 2019 with only 40,000 miles. Love that car!
This is one of my favourite videos that you have ever posted - it is SO refreshing to hear you two reflect about the strengths and skills you each bring to your frugal journey, and being able to laugh about the stuff that didn't work so great. It makes me realize that no two families are going to "do frugal" the same, but that's GREAT!
I ABSOLUTELY love love love this video. I love it when you and Dave discuss early life and raising your kids and all the pitfalls along the way. EXCELLENT!!!♥️💥♥️💥 I actually had to watch it twice!! Lol
I graduated college in 2020. When I got my first apartment every piece of furniture was from Facebook marketplace. We saved so much money and it’s all better quality than we would have been able to afford new. In February 2020 I bought a used car in cash. I’m so glad I bought it when I did because now used car prices are crazy. I was doing couponing for a while and would even have left overs to donate to the women’s shelter.
We are a family of 6 so it can be hard to find a place to stay for a reasonable price and without dividing the family into 2 rooms. So instead we do airbnbs. We have had great Airbnb experiences so far. It’s way cheaper and you get a kitchen to cook in. We bring our cooler and an instant pot and throw a meal from the freezer in it and it’s waiting for us when we get back from our daily adventures. We have become pros at packing picnic lunches. Also, if your on a tight budget, finding a destination that is family and budget friendly is key. For instance, most of the museums and the zoo is free to the public in St Louis.
Oh my gosh I love the golf club replacing the grips story. My husband has replaced his several times. However, I have no idea how he broke my sander by putting new grips on his golf clubs one of those times. I remember the look on his face when he brought my sander to me and ask if it could be fixed. The look on his face was priceless.
I love this video. It's just as much about your love journey as it is about being frugal. When you two laugh you remind me of high school kids dating. Never lose that spark.
hahaha omw we used clothing on hangers as curtains hahaha and a cooler bag for a fridge we used a cardboard box turned upside-down as a table we sat on the floor hahaha we rented a 2 bedroom home those were the days we cried and laughed but most of all we LOVED DEEPLY.
I love your channel, Christine! It’s an added bonus when your kids and Dave are included. You and Dave are hilarious!! I watch you because you’re real and relatable!! Keep doing you!! ❤️👍❤️
Love your hair. School teacher 47 half years... Go school teachers!!!!!! Such a great video with you two. First one for Me! Love great couples!!!!!! Like you💕
A few people have already said it, but kids' clothing at thrift stores or garage sales. Especially little kids, like junior high and younger. As they get older and don't grow as fast buying better quality clothes is a better investment, but little kids especially active ones don't need brand new clothes. You can find some good deals at garage sales on brand name clothing. Shoes. Invest in good shoes. After years of Walmart shoes (during the fast kid growing stages) we invest in multiple pairs of good shoes to rotate throughout the year. Lawn mowing. With decent equipment, a pair of people can get through an amazing amount of mowing in a few hours or over a weekend.
I resonate so much with this video! I too started couponing (in late 2020) and I'm showing my daughter how to do it too. I bought a Ford off the showroom lot and the engine blew in Utah within MONTHS while driving cross country. It was fixed for just my deductible but in the years that followed I replaced the trans and engine MULTIPLE TIMES. It was the most sour of lemon cars! No Ford's ever again. I don't care if they're free lol. I now own a 30 yr old Honda with less than 130k miles. Love it! I've also bought a sofa for $20 and kept it for 8 years. It was floral so it didn't go with anything but it was incredibly comfortable and clean. I also stayed at a sketchy hotel (in Gainesville FL near the hospital). No more of that lol. If it's crazy inexpensive, there's a reason.
My hubby does 90% of the maintenance and repairs on our two vehicles. He just fixed the driver side window mechanism which wouldn't roll down anymore. Thank goodness for youtube videos. You two are great! Blessings
"WRONG! IT'S A LIST!!" ... I still giggle every time you add that, and yes, I still do it in my head all the time (and sometimes I actually say it aloud!! Lol)
Loved this video. You two were obviously meant for each other! Seeing a couple who decided to work hard and work together to achieve their goals makes me feel good. God bless you!
I love extreme couponing and I will never go back! I get paid to shop every month. It has allowed me to pay off my mortgage and be debt free at 36 years old.
Haha!! 😂 Hands down your best video! So fun having you both tell about your experiences. I agree with everything you said. Especially that frugal doesn't equal cheapskate. Save money wherever you can comfortably. Every little bit helps! 🙂
I had a hand-me-down mattress when I moved back to my hometown. I bought a topper on sale and used that for two years. That experience made the better mattress feel like a true win.
Totally agree with the the used cars! Last year we found a gem! 2004 Nissan Maxima fully loaded with only 80,000 miles! It’s has been such an amazing car!
I love when you and Dave do a video together!! Love you sharing your ups and downs on decisions you have made through the years. We only learn when we literally live and learn.
We lucked out with one of our car purchases. It was considered used because it was a 2000 sold in 2000, but had less than 100 miles on it. We had it for over 20 years. Granted, for a 1/4 of that time, the a/c didn't work and we had to do some major repairs on it over the years, but I still count it as one of our best purchases ever.
Right tool for the job. Makes me think of trying to fix the disposal. Tried everything under the roof and outside of the house. Days of trying. Well simple tool. One Twist, less than 5 minutes.
Happy 4th of July! Instead of using ice packs, try freezing old milk jugs or juice jugs, fill them with water and freeze them to use as ice blocks. They work amazing when traveling.
Frugal hotel hack- I like to use priceline for a 4 or 5 star place as cheap as possible :) Frugal vacation hack- go on vacation mid week in the off season- you get great service at a discount rate and sometimes even have the place to yourself. Another one in Vegas book cheapest room at big resort then tip the front desk $20. They will try to upgrade you and give you some free bonus stuff very frequently - if not, you saved money by getting the most basic room and still had budget to immediately make someone’s day at the beginning of your vacation.
Excellent video topic, Christine! I would give this video five thumbs up if I could! I agree with most on your lists in my life situation except for one: extreme couponing has never worked for me. I did not have access to a lot of coupons, my local stores very quickly stopped doubling when the craze became big, a lot of the products were items I wouldn’t use or buy anyway, etc. It just never was a possibility for me so I never did it nor even wanted to. I would add another topic for my list to absolutely do again that you didn’t touch on: buy my kids’ clothes at garage sales and thrift stores, saving a ton of money buying quality brands. Same with toys, bikes, books, etc. Do not impress upon your kids that used is bad. You covered used furniture which falls into this camp which I did and still do. Frugality is being careful where you put your money per your values. Don’t spend money on areas that are not important to you AND that you know you have inexpensive but quality options. Pre-owned clothes, furniture, cars. It leaves room in your budget to spend on areas that are important to you, for me that was savings/no debt and paying down our mortgage. Which I did. We are completely no debt. Wise frugality can get you far.
I love seeing you two together and providing such valuable information. I have to say that I am dying of laughter that re-gripping your golf clubs was the hardest for you. My partner of nine years is a golf pro. So re-gripping clubs is his side hustle. What he ever take apart a washing machine dryer or anything else and try and put it back together absolutely not! He wouldn’t even think about doing some of the DIY things that you have done. Hats off to the both of you!
With our stimulus money a couple years ago, we bought my husband a pair of steel-toe Wolverine boots. They're the stove pipe pull on style. He loves them and chooses them over his sneakers most times (except when wearing shorts...that would look very strange). They show no signs of wear and tear, the sole is amazing and if I recall correctly, the company will make needed repairs free or at a lower cost than buying a new pair.
Watching the two of you together explains your kids and their enthusiasm. They are such a perfect mix of the two of you! So fun to watch! Thanks for sharing. :)
I was also an extreme couponer. I loved it. I taught it to others. We donated a lot of food, we had a lot of razors, and there is nothing like it. My husband used to complain about carrying it all in, but I didn't care! I think couponing has changed, but I really enjoyed it in its day!
When buying cars, try buy the same type as you have had. Like the suburban, if it was good, buy a like year and model. Then save or transfer all the good parts to the new vehicle. (Tires, shocks, windshield wipers, belts, starter, alternator. )
Great video, so true. Better sometimes to spend a little more when needed. For our household, shoes are a big thing. As I have aged I can't wear the inexpensive shoes anymore. So I spend more but less visits to the doctor. A good trade off!
Great video guys! Sorry this is so long. I never thought of myself as frugal, but after listening to this video, I am. For clothes, I rarely pay full price. I only buy clothes when there're on sale. I recycle, reuse many things. I use old prescription bottles for a lot of items, after they'lre washed of course. I use them in my stationary supplies & other things. I keep binder clips, rubber bands, paper clips in them. For the car, a bigger one to hold a small tube of triple antibiotic & bandaids. About a year ago my husband started using a brand of chewing gum that's contained in a plastic box. I use them in many ways. I use these for, Bobby pins, hair clips, rubber bands, hard candies, eyeglass wipes, etc. I will buy a larger size of an item if it will be cheaper in the long run. 4 years ago I bought 2 huge rolls of Christmas wrapping paper & this will be the 4th year of using it. Last, food for a road trip. I've got this one nailed. Our family was going to Ceder Point & our teenage sons were each bringing a friend. We were leaving early so I told their friends don't worry about breakfast, we're bringing that. I had home made muffins, yogurts, juice & fruit. We also had more snacks for the car & also for inside the park. Also when we took the whole family (5) to the movies I would put paper bags (lunch size) in my purse. We would buy the largest popcorn (which was refillable & we would fill the paper bags for everyone & get more if needed. I'm sure all of these things have saved us money over the years.
I love the videos with you and Dave in them! You guys are great together. Also love the tips and your review of them 😊. I used to do some extreme couponing and it was soooo fun!
I booked a motel 6 because I had to be near the hospital for my Dads surgery and that was all that was available. It was so awful! Dirty sheets, dirty floor, dirty everything! On another note, I got a Helix mattress a few months ago and I love it! They were amazing to work with. Very good customer service.
Loved this video! LOL at some of the topics. I agree with buying well made clothing even if it's much more expensive. I learned that a long time ago. Well made classic clothing lasts a long time. Also agree on avoiding cheap hotel rooms.
Teach all your kids, all of them will likely deal with a vehicle and even better if they can do the work if needed themselves. I had a Somma mattress for years, only replaced it when I got a Sleep Number. Bought both used and each lasted 10+ years. I have a neighbor who slept on an Intex mattress with a foam topper for 20 years. Join your local FreeCycle, all about free stuff.
I had a food science professor in college who really hammered it into our heads that expiration, use by, best by, etc dates are freshness dates and NOT spoilage dates and that appearance, smell, and taste are indicators of spoilage. I bought Lara bars at a liquidation store they had 8 count boxes for 50 cents a box, 16 count boxes for $2.25 and some individual bars 10 for $1. I bought a bunch, some were expired but most weren't expired they just had damaged boxes but all the bars were fine. The ones that were expired didn't taste rancid at all despite the bars having nuts. Our liquidation store ALWAYS has packaged cookies and crackers for $1 a box and loaves of bread for 50 cents, especially organic bread lol
Funny, Chef and Dietitian here. You know what your best friend is for liquids? Pool test strips, and a chart (can be found online) telling you what the acid/alkaline level should be in milk, canned goods, ect. You can buy 500 of those buggers for 5$. Being said, tread lightly here. Always check soft cheeses (cottage, ect) or fermented items for any pink colouring. If it's pink, down the sink.
How fun to have a food science professor ! Yes, many people cannot recognize expiration dates as recommendations , not they food is abhorrently tainted past ‘the date’ . What’s the name of your liquidation store?
free or hand me down furniture is the best. I have a couch a hutch a book shelf a cabinet a dining table and chairs a drawer set a dresser and threw desks that we didn't pay a dime for. there may be more. that was just off the top of my head... also there have been lots of furniture that does along the way. My kids are not gentle. 😂
One of the interesting things about making your clothes is that they will fit and be what you want. Also they will be better made and easier to repair. Learning home to make and repair things should be high on the frugal learning list.
My husband and I (and first kid just before our first anniversary) lived on so little starting out I feel like we have different stories, but very similar experiences. Used furniture, used cars, cheap meals, DIY, etc. It's character building. 😁
We have always had Ford cars and trucks currently have a 2012 Ford 4X4 truck with 358,000 miles and have never had any issues. My husband has the oil and filters changed every 5,000.00 miles and of course tires. We have driven Chrysler, GM and Ford vechiles.
I have had four Ford products that only had regular maintenance that have all gone over 150,000 and sold for a great price. My current Ford Expedition has over 335,000 miles and an Explorer that has currently over 200,000 and both are going strong is little to no repairs outside of regular maintenance. It is all in how you care for the vehicles.
Growing up, my mom did ‘the bread run’. She would transport the nearly expired food from the grocery store to a shelter. She didn’t get paid but could keep any items she wanted for personal use. We got all kinds of good stuff (like breakfast cereal that was way too expensive to buy for 5 kids)and never thought twice about the use by date.
Priceline is my go to for hotels! We drove across country from California to New York and each morning i would book a hotel on Priceline. We would get hotels for $80-$100 and it was worth it! And i rarely book one without free breakfast! It may be cheap breakfast food, but hey a yogurt and a bagel and coffee is good enough for me!
My son is almost 14 and he got a free lawnmower a couple of weeks ago because the owner couldn't figure out how to fix the drivetrain. We have a broken mower under the deck that hadn't made it to the dump yet. He was able to take off the cable on that and put it on this new mower and ended up selling it a few days ago for $80. It literally cost us nothing. Also, when we first moved in to our house my husband got a free mulcher because no one knew how to fix it. He put a spark plug in it and gave it an oil change. It still works now (it's been 10 years). Cost less than $10 to fix.
My husband is also EXTREMELY handy with any type of repairs or building projects, but like you when I hear, 'it's gonna take ten minutes', I KNOW I am going to spend three days with things in a mess!
I loved this video! And literally LOL. Love to hear the stories. We have a dirt cheap in town. It gets all of target and Walmarts overstocked items. It has a reputation of being dirty. But I’ve gotten so many good items! Patio furniture, Barbies, party decor. It’s so worth and the hunt is fun!
I find value in splurging on Tide detergent, Cascade Platinum pods, L.L. Bean, Nine West and I save money buy cooking at home, buying in bulk, camping vacations ❤
Really love listening to your stories. The both of you have really good experiences trying to DYI it. I agree about the Hotel experience and will walk out of the dirty dives.
This video was the best! I felt like I was hanging out with friends watching it. We also drive very used cars, my husband is 6"3 and drives my old 2008 Nissan versa and has a truck if need be, I saw a bumper sticker the other day on an old monte Carlo that said "don't laughs it's paid for", and it really cracked me up! It's so true! I'd rather not have stress from having a car paying and just drive an older car.
You guys get it. I totally agree--even on the clothes. I shop too often at Gabes (like Ross) I end up not liking them. [Those good hotel/motel reviews were written by staff!] Another habit (one I'm AGAIN breaking) is stop for a drink. No. Just no. Why do drinks taste better from a drive-thru at inflated prices? Just NO.
Have to mention, Chubbies for mens workout/gym shorts. They are like $60 - 70 a pair but my husband and father in law love them. High quality and the built in spandex has a ton of fun patterns. Which does result in my husband “flashing” me to show me the design haha.
Oh my gosh your hotel room stories. 😂 My husband and I have several. We stayed in a sketch room once, had one of those shared doors….stacked all our stuff against it. Once the cops showed up later that night we checked out and got our money back. It got to a point where I told my husband I wanted to see the room first. 😂 Great video!! Loved it!! Brought back a lot of memories of our own experiences.
I had to chuckle when you mentioned having problems with Ford cars. Over here in the UK we say FORD stands for Fix Or Repair Daily. My ex husband was a car mechanic and forbid me to buy a Ford. I did have a couple of them MANY years ago and it did seem that they needed something doing to them every day. Hope you guys are doing well. Much love and respect from South East England. xxx PS sorry I am a bit late commenting on this post but I am recovering from the dread virus so am trying to catch up on all the videos that were posted while I was unable to view them.
We were so poor when we moved into our house that we used a cut up sheet for curtains for years until we could buy plastic mini blinds on sale. I called all of our furniture “early attic” because everything was a hand me down. We would shop for kids clothes and when the price ended in a .4 like 3.74 we knew it was the final markdown and I would buy it. I know we were way more creative then but survived the hard times. Love your videos!
Just using up many couponing stashes from years ago and it hurts to pay full price. I know we have made some choices like this but I am going to have to put a lot of thought into it. We have two queen mattresses we got cheap that were used and we still use them. We have tons of used furniture but I drew the line at used couches and bought cheaper new ones and I am so much happier.
I absolutely loved this video and how the two of you were reminiscing about the many experiences you've had and how you donned your warrior spirit and got through them! What a rich, rich life you've had and what a wealth of memories! Thanks for the up close and personal!
What great stories and great tips! Definitely feel you on the car. I did buy mine new (mostly because Hondas have such great holding value that a slightly used one wasn’t that much different from new), but I’ve had my 2012 Civic for 10 years now with not a single issue. Had to replace some items due to wear like the window trim that disintegrated in my subtropical clime, but everything else runs like a dream and has given me five beautiful years of no car payments. Every once in a while my eye gets caught by the newer vehicles out there, but I can’t justify the expense, especially when I already get excellent gas mileage, and it’s in such great shape. I’m also a car food prepper. Got into the habit because of my father who was on a super tight budget. We would pack a cooler and stop at rest area picnic spots to eat - never fast food. It’s a bit sad now as an adult because none of my friends have the patience for it and always want to get fast food when we travel. I admit that I cave most times, especially when I’m outnumbered, but I still pack for beach trips and such. Nothing beats a cooler full of ice cold watermelon on a super hot and sunny day.
I don't do my own car maintenance but my BF plans on doing all the basics on both our cars once we get married. Plus we have a good friend who is a mechanic who changed our breaks since neither of us has the right tools yet.
Hotel for sure, we stayed at one where the door had been broken into and we had to push the dresser up against the door to keep it closed. It was the only place available at the time under $550/night, now we know why- We were only staying one night but we should left and just slept in our car somewhere else. We now have a bar if it is Orlando level or worse we aren't staying. Lol 😂
Red roof! They are super cheap, allow doggos, and I’ve never been to a dirty one. Every time we’ve stayed we’ve just seem families with dogs everywhere. Very, very happy customer with them. We always look for one when we travel now.
Oh my your hotel experience brought back memories! My granddaughter was in the national skate competition in Lincoln, Nebraska. We booked “cheap” next to the airport. We asked for a single queen sized bed. I kid you not, when we got to the room, after driving 24 hours straight through from Florida, late at night, there was , in fact, a single queen sized bed. You could see the dust marks in the carpet where they had REMOVED the second bed!!
My husband got us a free harvest gold dryer. Every time we used it the thing shot tens of stinky toothpicks out of the lint trap. I ended up taking the miserable thing to the side yard and hung every single pair of his whitey tighties from a clothes line on the front porch. (We live in the country!) I got a new dryer.
"All the confidence and none of the know how!" Classic. I LOVE it!!!!!
All kids should be taught how to do the practical stuff of life if they're physically and cognitively able to.
I was going to say this same thing!!
“Frugal is not about the price.” Truer words were never spoken.
Absolutely agree on the expiry dates on food, "best before" does not mean "will kill you after"
My daughter tells me that at school, classmates (jr high) will give her their fruit cups and other things because ‘it’s expired’.
My dad didn’t let us drive without those skills either!
I do the same thing. It is always 3x as long!!
Yes agree plus at least 3 trips to Home Depot!
It only takes fifteen minutes to do it.” 🤬 😂
I concur with this statement 100% the projects always take longer that estimated.
Yall's chemistry is off the charts! So fun to watch you together:)
I feel like in an alternate universe if yall were 2 characters in a sitcom, everyone would be screaming at the TV to just get together already:))
He’s her lobster.
I agree about having the right tool for the job. Sometimes tools can be expensive, so I always borrow them or thrift them on Facebook!
My city came out with a tool library where you can borrow tools so you don’t have to buy them! It’s such a great resource to have!
A tool library is such a great idea! I feel like if I have the right tools I can get things done
That’s amazing!
Yep, us singles always get the undertone or the little remark, right? 😁
@@TheNinnyfee yes!😏😅
Congratulations on your weight loss!
My whole family lived and worked at scout camp every summer for years!!! Absolutely LOVED it!!!
You should do a video on frugle tips your mom & dad taught you. I try to peice together parenting advice because my parents are MIA & crazy.
Lol
"The confidence without the know how." This is EXACTLY what my dad gave me and the reason I call him every time I screw up an overconfident DIY
Both my fords lasted past 100 and I’m still driving my Edge and it’s at 117and still going strong. 🧡 This brings back many memories.🧡
Watching you and your husband makes me so happy.
"Frugal is about the value your money gives you"!!!! Resonates, makes total sense. I laughed so much during this video, you made my day!
I didn't know that you could still do that, what do you use? Paper? Apps? This is mysterious and magical to me.
My Taurus lasted 300,000 miles! Loved it. My 2012 Fusion is still doing great...30 mpg. Love it.
My Excursion is at 347,000+ I love it! Our daughter has a Fusion and loves it and I wish we would have bought one too for short trips by myself.
That tool is crazy expensive!
This is super humbling. It is great you guys can look back on those days with fond memories.
I'm single and I mostly cook with a slow cooker. I freeze leftovers and get 6 or more entree servings from one cooking session. Saves time and money!
You guys are so cute together 👍 love videos with you both. Also Christine would you do a video about how to start couponing in 2022?
I'm on my second Ford Escape (2007 now) - best car ever! Small SUV and I am a regular road tripper and camper. (I can sleep in back even.)
“Frugal doesn’t equal cheap…frugal is about VALUE…” 🙌🎤⬇️
And if you freeze them you can have them a long time
How fun to have a food science professor !
I loved this video. The two of you bouncing back and forth, it's so fun. It was not long enough. It could have gone on for another 30 minutes!
Christine(&the hubs)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!! PLEASE, do an EXTREME COUPONING SERIES next!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean extreme by getting your total down... not buying 100 of the same item.
My family has spent many camps at Camp Buffalo Bill! Such great times!
Seriously one of the greatest places on earth
This was your best episode! Got me laughing and remembering all the things. Especially the bad hotel rooms!!
Just NO.
But they do taste better, they do!😂😂😂
Have to mention, Chubbies for mens workout/gym shorts. They are like $60 - 70 a pair but my husband and father in law love them. High quality and the built in spandex has a ton of fun patterns. Which does result in my husband “flashing” me to show me the design haha.
Favourite quote…He’s given me the confidence with none of the know how! 😂
That's funny you said "Clearance food"!!! I say that and my husband says "NO!!! We don't eat CLEARANCE food, we eat MANAGER"S SPECIAL food"!!! 🤣😂
We salt the roads in Canada, rust is a big problem. I feel your pain
Oh my gosh your hotel room stories. 😂
My husband and I have several. We stayed in a sketch room once, had one of those shared doors….stacked all our stuff against it. Once the cops showed up later that night we checked out and got our money back.
It got to a point where I told my husband I wanted to see the room first. 😂
Great video!!
Much love and respect from South East England. xxx
PS sorry I am a bit late commenting on this post but I am recovering from the dread virus so am trying to catch up on all the videos that were posted while I was unable to view them.
Aww the summer camp days sound so fun as a family and very fitting for the two of you!
Same with the Fords here. We tend to only do used Honda and Toyota now.
I enjoy watching you guys soooooo much! You family is awesome. You two are so cute together. Thanks for sharing.
