    This is an absolutely amazing video. I've played close to 400 hours across all the games now (which isn't much compared to many) and I've still not gotten behind a lot of the mechanics, and this video (and the first part as well) helped me understand a great deal, especially regarding resistances.
    However, one thing that might be crucial to a beginner i found missing: every model in a unit counts as it's own entity regarding _anything_. For one, each one has it's own pool of HP, which is why sometimes you find a unit with 50% of their models at 50% HP after being hit by queen bess or something, while at other times you find a unit with 118/120 models while being at like 20% HP because they were all hit a lot, but still survived with a few HP. And the amount of models a unit has also affects it's total damage output, as each one fires it's own arrows and hits with its own sword. A unit with 120 models can deal a great amount of damage. The same unit, but after half of them died will also only attack half as much and deal only half damage. And then, if a unit is hit by a projectile, if the projectile doesn't hit a model, it doesn't hit. If you throw a cannonball at a unit and it barely grazes the edge of a line formation, maybe only 2 models get hit and recieve damage. If the cannonball hits in the center of a square formation, there might be like 40 or 50 models hit, and each of them take damage.

      Great comment with some great additions! You make some excellent points which would do great in a followup video regarding the number of entities and how deep/shallow formations can impact combat. I take time to script things to keep things as simple, yet broad as possible in an attempt to make few 'big' rules rather than the opposite which is a bit unfair for a newer player to remember. Always appreciate extra points brought up and may feature in a future video. Thanks again for the kind words and cheers for the sub!

      Moreover, I am a real Kislevite, that is, I am Russian and live in far northern Siberia. No kidding.
      I'm a little amused (maybe annoyed) by how intrusively the developers of Kislev units pronounce the letter R firmly. Another stereotype among others. And judging by the voice and tone, I think the Kislev units were voiced by hired cheaply Indians, not Russians or British =)

    I still have no flipping clue how to play this game, usually resetting after 10-15 turns, never having completed a campagne. But this seems super usefull anyways. Thanks a lot, hope to find more "live" gameplays in the future. The "twisted sisters" (sisters of twilight" ) would be awesome to watch you play live for 30-50 turns. I know you did a 20 turns guide, but that's way above my weight class, and I'm not certain how to adoped this strategy to my low understanding of the game. Have a good one mate, catch ya later

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  Год назад

      That's correct, if the stats kept changing it would make it difficult to make snap/informed decisions. This is mainly a concern if you have many more units and the enemy only has a couple of elite units left over. Cycle the tired units to recover, then charge them into the rear.

  • @andreasaust1510
    @andreasaust1510 3 месяца назад +1

    Hi! Thanks for the video! I have so many additional questions about projectiles, things the game doesn't tell you, for example the difference between crossbow and bow (my guess is both can shoot over people's head but the trajectory of crossbows is more flat so you need to be further away when you have a check board formation? or need completely free path?) Gunpowder probably is the most dependent on clear line of sight? and also better against smaller fast moving targets I presume?
    And the mechanics around cannons, rockets, splash damage, explosion damage etc.: is it fair to say that rockets generally are better against infantry and cannons better against structures and maybe large targets? and what happens if I increase the splash damage through buffs/tech tree on a cannon - will it even change something or are cannons always pinpoint? Thanks!

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  3 месяца назад +1

      No worries, cheers for watching. arrows/bolts both function identically the same and are volley fired, but will aim straight at the enemy if nothing obstructs them. Normal bows simply have less AP whilst enjoying more range, though will deal lower damage against armour. Crossbows have the exact opposite, high AP - lower range. Hover over the weapon/missile strength icon and see the split. All units fire better with a straight line, but since gunpowder deals so much more damage it makes sense to use them for the frontline missile role. You've got the right idea about cannons and single shot weapons with low splash being an anti-single entity and/OR anti-heavy infantry depending. You generally can't increase splash radius - just deal more damage and at further range. getting veteran ranks typically also slightly increases accuracy too.

    Ive been using youre formation design and its great but playing as empire I see it losing a good deal of effectiveness due to the lower range conpare to high elves. And then I though about playing VC and am curious if you have another formation type thats more suited to races with weak or no range capabilities.

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  Год назад +1

      Great point. This brings up matchup dependent considerations. If you need to quickly raise a crisis army versing vampires, then twohanded AP (great weapons) will be a rare exception that shields are not needed at all.
      Against High Elves, their weakness is artillery and being outmaneuvered by heavier units. Artillery is how you force them to you. Have 2-4 hellstrorm batteries and a couple units of demigryphs / heavy cav hiding on the flanks.
      Their bow range is where they *have* to get to to inflict damage. Now this is where you move your formation forward and send your cav around to disrupt and stop them fighting. In melee, they're only elves and your cav will rip them apart. So a) use artillery to force them to you and nuke their troops b) use cav to disrupt their archers c) move your ranged units into position and clean up.

    How armor and resistance stacked? Do the damage reduced by resistance first then armor or the other around?

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  Год назад +1

      Easiest way to picture it is: unit gets hit - reduce damage by armour - reduce that damage by % of resistances available. If the target has high armour, use AP. If they have high Physical Resist then use Magic Attacks/spells.

      They're calculated at the same time, as both become a percentage.
      Let's say armour is a 100, and it rolls an average 75% non-ap blocked, and you also have 10% Damage Resistance (Ward Save)
      Now let's say the damage coming in is 100,000 (all non-armour piercing for arguments sake) and you have 1000,000 health.
      100,000x 0.25(-75%) and then x0.9(-10%).
      Because it is multiplicative, regardless of whether you calculate the 10% first or the 75% first, you're left with 22,500 damage coming in.

      Whether you deal with the resistance or the armour first, the remaining damage is the same:
      100,000x0.9x.0.25
