    when I was 14 there were very few henna videos in english online. so I remember watching this tutorial so many times trying to learn. 10 years later I am a professional henna artist. thank you for being such a pivotal part of my journey. I always come back to rewatch from time to time just to reminisce. 10 years. that's still so crazy to me

    She's pronouncing it the way it's supposed to pronounced.
    Also, she has an accent. Pipe it down people, she actually knows what she's taking about.

    I don't care if it sounds like she's saying Hannah really but for those saying English isn't her first language henna is just the way to write it in English, it's made from the Arabic letters ha, nun, and aliph if I'm correct. Henna isn't English is basically my point, but I'm guessing she doesn't speak Arabic. She IS saying it "wrong" but tomato tamato.

    • @sanaa2972
      @sanaa2972 9 лет назад

      Actually that wouldn't be aliph.. it's ta in its other form ة but it sounds like aliph when you pronounce it! Just thought of pointing that out!

    The "black" henna she was referring to is called jagua (tattoo). "Legit" jagua has similar staining properties often a dark blue or black. However, unlike henna, jagua is made up of fruits(berries usually) that grow on trees. Also takes longer to dry and lasts a little less time. :)

    She makes it look so easy...it's not. I suck at creating patterns and only thing I end up making is bunches of small dots, leaves and lines, small flowers, letters and some other random swirly lines. I always try to make that shape of where it's curved...it never works! Like how do you do this?! Well, I guess it's because I use a cupi and powder one that you have to wet so maybe that's why? I once used the tube one and the henna was terrible! It ate away my skin! My skin were pulling off as the henna started fading away and the color was such a light orange color even tho I left it on for so long. American henna sucks most of the time. I usually get it from Nepal when people are coming and going during Dashain and Teej.

    I'm not religious, but I find henna to be very beautiful. However, I know that it can be inappropriate to copy certain cultural and religious traditions.
    Just out interest, those who use henna within their culture/religion - do you find it to be offensive, or cultural appropriation, when people who don't belong to that religion use henna?

    • @poshniall
      @poshniall 9 лет назад +12

      henna isn't exactly a religious practice because it didn't originate in one religion. it originated in north africa and the middle east as a cosmetic, but today hindu people do use it sometimes during fasting and for wedding rituals. i've heard from multiple middle eastern people that it's not offensive if you appreciate where it came from and that it's a type of art, not just a pretty fake tattoo.

      +emily b Hello hope you're well, so we have two Eids : Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha. Ed al Fitr marks the end of the month of Ramadan it's like a celebration of breaking fast and
      Eid Al Adha (like a celebration of the Sacrifice) celebrated on the 10th of the twenlfth month of the Islamic year which is Dhu al-Hijjah, to commemorate Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son for God and it lasts three days. i hope I help you a little bit to understand what Eid is but look it up if you want more information. Have a great day

      Bethany Francia lol no left handed people usually right with the side of their hand resting on the paper, they can't write at an angle so they were saying that doing henna will be ahrd cause it'll smear when they mkve their hand over! Lol, thats why they always have ink or pencil marks on the side of their hand cause it rubs against the paper

    • @phant0m0th_
      @phant0m0th_ 9 лет назад

    I've tried black henna on myself before because my skin isn't allergic or sensitive to anything. To be honest, you're better off using the natural henna because I didn't see a difference except the henna drying black but when that all falls off you're left with the same result. I didn't get a reaction but I still wouldn't recommend it because it has a really strong smell and the possibility of you getting a reaction isn't worth it from the images I've seen.

    Hi. I had this on mute because I did not want to make any noise. However, I wanted to know where to find the henna applicators (tubes). Like that one or a pen that is easiest to apply the henna. I bought henna but I have a hard time handling the paste. At least the one I have is from a grocery store, it dries out, clumps, and is hard to squeeze out. Sometimes I fight with it. Lol

  • @farha0401
    @farha0401 9 лет назад +1

    Natural henna if made correctly loses its color within a week. That is why it should always be made fresh and you can make a piping bag as a cone. These ready made tubes etc. Don't use fresh henna paste and use hair dye or food coloring to fake the color. Same thing with "black henna", it's hair dye mixed in with the henna paste which can be extremely dangerous for your skin. Use coffee or tea leaves to make the paste instead of pain water and you can get a deeper color.
