    as long as i know pure henna does not give any allergic reaction but the essential oil and chemical used to make henna paste can give you allergic reaction. in that case use only pure henna powder and mix it with water and add either little lemon juice or eucalyptus oil by the way nice tutorial

      I know that... I was saying that I have red henna, which means I was talking about the color it leaves when it stains, for henna users and those who actually know about henna unlike you say "oh I got red henna," we aren't talking about the color it is when we first get it, we are talking about the staining color. I know all about that ppd stuff and black henna and it smelling earthy. so don't pull that, "I'm smarter than you" thing on me. thanks :)

    • @ashleycinnamon6330

      Im a white girl, but if people get offended by this they're being ridiculous. No form of art should be exclusive to one race, nor should other races be excluded. Doing henna is a way of learning about and partaking in other cultures.

    • @nailahel-amin9449
      @nailahel-amin9449 9 лет назад +37

      Amanda Lu It's important to understand the cultural significance of henna if you're going to wear it. Applying henna is done in various Asian and African cultures for special occasions such as Eid and weddings. Applying henna solely for its aesthetic appeal takes away from its cultural significance and some people find it insensitive. If you're invited to a special event where henna is traditionally worn, then have at it. Participating in other cultures is often welcome. Stripping it of its meaning is not. I hope that helps. :)

    • @nailahel-amin9449
      @nailahel-amin9449 9 лет назад +56

      Ashley Cinnamon As a white person, you are in no position to tell people of color what parts of their cultures they are allowed to hold precious. Whether or not someone from a culture that does not use henna can use it is a conversation that deserves to be discussed within those communities. You enjoying henna's appeal is fine. However, disregarding it's cultural significance because it's art and you think it's pretty is why people of color are so often irritated with white people such as yourself. To call them ridiculous just illustrates your ignorance. Please continue to educate yourself.

    • @his_majesty6766

      Na'ilah El-Amin Calm down please. What's wrong with wearing henna? Some people take their culture too seriously..... And before you start rattling on, I'm Arab.

    • @user-zs1zp2vs1g
      @user-zs1zp2vs1g 8 лет назад +12

      Well I've been doing a lot of research on Cultural Appropriation and Henna is very inclusive, anyone can do it and I think that's a really beautiful way to share cultures. It's the same with head scarfs, it's not exclusive to Muslim women, to be honest, I never got why some people are so exclusive about certain things in cultures. It's different if you're wearing a native American headdress at a music festival or something because they are an important part of native American culture and it's being used as a fashion accessory, but someone getting cornrows to me isn't offensive, but of course I'm going to respect their wishes as it is their culture. But I think the main rule is to be respectful and understand what it means to the culture :).

    my mom used to colour her hair with black henna.. first you have to make sure it's good quality. then boil water with green or black tea and let it boil few minutes. let it cool a little bit and add henna (it'll turn green don't freak out lol) when it's cold put it all over your hair and out a plastic bag or cap on for 20 to 40 minutes.. then wash it off with shampoo and enjoy beautiful and healthy hair :)

      It's kind of like being allergic to latex or latex-free gloves that people who are allergic to latex use there are types of Hannah that people are not allergic to. Most people who are lactose intolerant are okay if they eat goat cheese because of cow's milk and goats milk is very different and it's the lactose in cow's milk that most people who are lactose intolerant are intolerant to.....

    The henna is really cool, never seen it before. Do you have to use everything at once or can you store the rest for later once its open? And how long does it stay on?

    • @KamChillTV19558
      @KamChillTV19558 5 месяцев назад

      You can store it with a pin in tip in freezer, but if open and still using store in fridge until done then usually fine to refreeze, I always do butnot too many times, but fresh cones you can freeze 4 six mths X

    Don't forget to rub some oil-any kind-over the design as SOON as you wash the henna off-it'll intensify the color and make the design last longer but you need to do it as soon as you wash off the henna!

    and also if u want hina to give more color then after the hina is dried out, put a thin plastic shoper on it and tie it lightly around ur wrists so tht the air stops comming in and ur hand can sweat easily becoz of heat and make tht hina wet again and so give u more and more color till u r wearing it, i wear it overnight usually and the results are always darkest hina color always. like black(with good quality hina) or deep brown(if the hina is'nt tht good quality).

  • @ouarda547
    @ouarda547 11 лет назад

    it depends on how long you leave it on and how many times you wash your hands a day. . Also I have noticed that the less you are used to it, the faster it's gonna get darker.

    I love henna! How long does Henna last because I've had this tube of henna for 4 years and haven't done anything with it because I didn't know how to use it, but now I want to try it! Would it be okay if I use that Henna or is it TOO OLD?
    thnx !

    I'm allergic to most metals. But sometimes I wear those metals for jewelry because the rash isn't that big of a deal. If I really want to wear the jewelry for a while it can be worth it. I can't relate to the comments by people getting so uptight that you might wear henna even if you have an allergy. Thanks for the tutorial.

    I am an Mehndi artist so i know a bit ;)
    You are not allergic to henna (pure) but to the tubes.
    The ready made tubes have all sorts of things in it and it's not sure what, because it doesn't say on the Pack. But it can contain lamp oil or other oils that aren't good for the skin.
    I would advise you to try pure henna . Either the powder and then mix it your self or buy some online . You are from US and there are lot of brands there . Henna caravan, ash kumar ect ect who sell pure henna mixed

    The allergic reaction is likely not to the henna plant, but to the chemicals used to enhance the colour. Look up BLACK HENNA, and PPD. If you want to use henna without a risk of reaction, buy fresh super sifted henna powder, and mix with lemon juice, cajeput or lavender essential (these essential oils are a safe alternative to the chemicals which do a wonderful job at brigning out colour) if you dont have the courage to make your own paste, buy henna cones mixed with all natural ingredients.
