The show itself acts its own fanfic. Like, basically any OFMD fic on AO3 that isn't an AU feels like it could happen in future episodes and that's insane to me, and I almost feel like I'm spoiling myself

i would argue that it might be just a normal amount of fanfics, mostly because we dont need to make up our own ships and happy endings for once :D
I love all the different subtlety and dynamics in each kiss.
Lucius and Pete, it’s a very gentle and affectionate but there’s also the reassurance and “stop saying bad things about yourself, you’re perf”. I think it was also a long time coming and both knew it but they were happy to just ease into loving each other. In many ways it comes naturally to them and it can be seen in the slowness and fluidity of their movements, like Lu lifting his hand to Pete’s cheek. It sends a message of “we can take our time together” and full of such tenderness.
Stede and Ed, similar to Pete and Lu about it being a long time coming but unlike the first, there’s also hesitation, ed is scared to confess to Stede because he’s so worried he won’t feel the same way (tho he doesn’t know that Stede has these same insecurities as well as returning his feelings). When Ed finally got the courage to say the Stede makes him happy, he was willing to take another chance with kissing him. There’s once again that tenderness and gentleness and it’s partially do to the same reasons as Pete and lu (“I want to take my time”) but it’s also because they’re both nervous to go too fast. Stede has been told from day one that he’s a screwup and he’s still worried about his family that he feels he’s abanadoned. He’s already ruined one so called “happy ending” what’s to stop him from ruining this one too? And Ed is so used to being Blackbeard; the fearsome pirate, the monster without a soul, the kraken. Not only does he think he is unable to keep a good relationship, he thinks he doesn’t deserve one. Judging by his interactions with Izzy, he’s both been a toxic lover and been with toxic lovers. But that moment, when Stede kisses him back, I can see that they’re both relieved that the other feels the same, as can be seen in Ed putting his hand on Stedes shoulder and cheek and there’s that very gentle kiss back. Their body language displays feelings of fear but also trust and willingness to take things slow. Unlike Pete and lu who are willing to go slow because they’re content to just enjoy each other, ed and Stede need to go slow because it’s what will make them feel safest. (This one has the most to work with which is why this analysis is the longest)
Jim and Olu, oh this one is the funnest. As with the first two, it’s been a. Long time coming but unlike the first two, Jim is a wild one who goes after what they want without care. They’re very smart and calculation with most things but not with what they desire. And once they heard that Olu had missed them, that he felt the same way for them, they didn’t hold back. They needed him, they didn’t want to take their time, they need him right now dammit. There’s so much passion and need from the both of them and you can see that Olu wants this too, tho unlike jim Olu is content to wait (Jim=ultimate horny boi). Even tho it’s fast and desperate, it’s still very loving. A sort of “Ive wanted you for so long and now you’re here loving me” sort of vibe.
God I love how much emotion and love these actors put into everything this show is amazing.
In conclusion this is what happens when you give a queer English major a bit of weed, a show about gay pirates, and a comment section thank you for coming to my lgbTED talk.

@@dragonshibari Having a different gender identity doesn't change the fact that she looks like and is biologically a woman. Attraction is in the eye of the attracted, and whether or not Oluwande is straight, this kiss doesn't make him not so.
You could say there isn't a single completely non-LGBT kiss in the show and that would be true, and of course that's great for representation and social progress and everything. But just clarifying that someone being attracted to a non-binary individual doesn't automatically make them not straight. Straight ≠ non-LGBT

I love how I had such a completely different reaction when watching these scenes for the first time. The first one had me smiling so hard I thought my face would rip in half, the second one turned my brain to complete mush and I could barely construct a complete thought, and the third one had me jumping up in my seat and thinking "FINALLY"! I love this show so freaking much
