Thanks for the detailed review! I have been looking at the Sarx for a couple of years, but could never really justify buying it as a student. After graduating for my master's I finally wanted to buy it for myself as a gift, but it seems that they are no longer being produced, meaning you now pay almost double the price for a scratched up one on Chrono24... The Citizen looks pretty good, but it just feels a bit off compared to the Sarx. I hope Seiko comes out with a similar model in the future
They are very close, I also have the Sarx055. But if you don't like it as much don't compromise. Wait for something you really want! (Also, if you don't mind used they do pop up for sale from time to time!)
I have this. The strap squeaks against the case when flexing my wrist or adjusting the position of the watch. Hopefully the squeak lessens as the leather softens. That said I’d rather have a squeak than a loose strap with a gap between it and the lugs.

I had a Citizen back in 2004 u til 2011... iverall wear, around 3 years.. was looking like NEW after all the abuse it endured! Citizen is... underrated and impeccably made! The JDM models have some... #Japan charm that besode G-Shock few watches have.
what's going on with citizen,? This watch would be Stellar except for a few shortcomings! Those tiny shortcomings seem like no brainers,like they were done on purpose. With a super brand like citizen,standard lug width, premium band and drilled lug holes would have been easy! Maybe they don't want it to succeed! I've noticed that in several different watch brands there are planned design glitches ,like they dont want that model to eclipse another!
That's Not the Only issue. This and the 1050 watches R basically the Same, save for couple of Insignificant details like the Hands/markers and bracelets. Other than that it's the same watch/mvmnt. Except that the 1050 is $300 Less. And since we're talking about a $700 watch here,.that's a $300 difference wich is ridiculous. And Neither has a Signed Crown anyway. The 1050 cheaper version Actually has a Loom where this Overpriced model Doesn't. But I'm sure many will be Fooled to pay Double for an Enamel Dial which probably costs an Extra $20 Tops to make!!
What would citizen sign the crown with? A simple “C” like Seiko does with the “S”? They save the eagle signed crown for “The Citizen” models. They don’t have another logo otherwise that would fit this product line.
Love these and the NB1050's as well! Citizen is killing it with their automatics. I prefer this over the Seiko. Good review! Thanks for sharing!

- as a Seiko lover it is not hard for me to agree that this is a nice Citizen. This is called healthy competition I guess ------

The odd lug width is a JDM market thing. The rest of what you describe, market segmentation, is a real strategy.

citizen is more like a dress watch seiko on the other hand is multipurpose
