If battery dead then try to clean port w toothpick and remove any lint or dirt. Also try diff cable… also the second step of this video can help revive battery to charge too.
I'm curious how you have experience with enough phones to say stuff like try these steps "up to seven times". That suggests you've done this with a ton of phones. How is that possible?
Tried this method about 2-3 times and would not power up. Left it charged powered it up first thing in the morning and it worked. Don't even think it charged while being plugged in since I only had 30% battery in the morning
These are some interesting steps, but I would NOT recommend putting a phone in the freezer at all. This is very bad for Lithium Ion batteries. Freezing can severely damage Lithium Ion batteries. This video also does not show one of the more important things to try before smashing your phone around. The Volume Down and Power at the same time for about 30 seconds, or the Volume up and power at same time. (Some phones use Vol up, some use Vol Down)
Healthy Li-Ion batteries can freeze just fine. Any battery's efficiency/output is reduced by cold temps, but there shouldn't be permanent damage from putting your phone in the freezer for 15 minutes. Maybe if the battery is at nearly 0% charge and you then put it in the freezer the voltage could drop to a low enough level that it will be unable to be recharged conventionally or will have a permanently reduced capacity.

I immediately got online with Google support and was told that I was way out of warranty, but they'd replace it anyway with a Pixel 6a. I was happy with that. About 30 mins later I get an email telling me that due to inventory issues, I will not be receiving a 6a, but instead will be getting a Pixel 7 Pro! I had to do a double take and make sure I was reading it correctly!
Today, April 29th, FedEx dropped off my brand new, sealed in the box (not a refurb) 7 Pro!
I'm heartbroken that my 5a finally croaked, but I'm over the moon that Google did me right and sent me this thing! I've NEVER had a phone this nice!
Wow i can’t believe they did that. Anyway my dad still use/ his pixel 5a and he doesn’t want to change or upgrade
@@WorldofTech I absolutely LOVED my 5a!
I've seen on Reddit that Google has been sending quite a few people the 7 Pro as a replacement lately. Maybe it has something to due with the fact I'm on Google Fi as my provider?
How can I do this?
The massage step on first try worked for me, thank you very much!
Wow, first i put my phone in freezer 15 minutes, wont turn on, but i try and try again. In 4 times, the last. I put in freezer in several hours and MAGIC!!! THE DEVICE IS TURN ON. BIG THANKS!!!
Kaç saat koydunuz?
Wow, who would have thought massaging a phone would work! Thank you
So i got my 5A to power back up but it stays on for less than a minute and shuts back on. Now I can't get to power back up. Keep trying the methods in the video?
I was watching this and as I stayed longer I was like "this is getting ridiculous" but the massaging worked 😭thank you, I was so worried because I don't have a back up for my files! thought I was hopeless!
This worked for me! I had to replace my screen due to a physical break from a 3' drop. I put the new screen in and it was black. Held the power button until logo appeard and it turned on. Thank you for the tip!
Does this work if your screen cracked and went black? Has lines and stuff now
Also do you know where I can get a screen for the 5a to replace myself? Thanks
Smacking the phone around killed the phone completely. It just started blinking at the edges. Not sure I'd recommend doing all of these.
My pixel 5a phone was turned off while I reduced volume when I received call while I was in meeting. Since then phone was not turned on.your video looks for me when any keys got struck. Is any assembly issues I purchased this phone 2 year's back. For last one week's I noticed phone was shutting down and switch on automatically. Before shutting down it used to give notification stating phone is getting warmer. What I should do
Thank you, figuring out myself the first method.. before my screen goes black, i was capturing some pictures. 🎉
Did all the pushing and tapping and massaging but mine's still in black screen. I could hear it make sound when charging or when I press together the power button + volume down. Help!
Mine is the same, the screen is black, but I can answer the phone. Is your problem solved?
@@chenliangheng1194 my phone still charges back and I can force restart and hear it sound when power + lower volume keys are pressed together. I had it opened and the LCD, battery, etc be dissembled and reassembled to see it this fixes the black screen issue but it did not. Possibly Google sold us bad Pixel phones with these overwhelmingly number of dying phones all of a sudden?
My 5A's screen randomly turned black. It doesn't vibrate. It doesn't show any indications that it is charging. Just totally unresponsive. Anyone else have this issue?
That's exactly what mine is doing 😥
mine is doing the same thing. I tried these methods repeatedly except for the freezing but nothing.
im going through it rn, any solution?
i am facing the same problem and no nothing including freezing is working
@@baarish30 I end up sending it for a repair in a local shop to change a power IC in the motherboard. Phones work fine for 3 weeks and somehow its dead again..
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT SPAM THE POWER BUTTON - I just did and ended up talking to a 911 operator.
Thx for the tapping tip, it worked for me ! 😲 But how the hardware design can be as bad as this !?!? Bad solders ? Some loose connectors ?
phone dropped - nothing works
what a horrible horrible experience - how flimsy are these google phones!! so aggravating
My phone drop and it was black screen, calls are coming my phone is on ,now what I do?
So my screen may be broken/faulty . Maybe a different type of problem. But for me it only made it worse, Heads up. If you think your screen is broken(it blinks or looks cracked) dont try this method as it will not fix it
how do i make it shut down and -not- restart? my screen is toast but the phone keeps turning back on and hoggin the blutooth ??
I really thought I was being pranked when it got to the freezer suggestion but dammit that's the one that worked! What in the world. Thank you for saving my sanity.
Worked for me, just by the first step! Very helpful! Thank you!
Holy cow... step 1 worked! After reading up and agonizing for hours, I found your video... Not sure if letting it rest was key or if I just didn't hold it long enough before (I find that hard to believe). But I am currently working on transferring the 4000 un-backed-up photos of my new baby... so thank you for giving me some hope and a solution!
Well... It turned on and worked for about 5 hours, which was long enough for me to back up my pictures, thank goodness. The black screen of death happened again and none of these fixes have worked the second time. I will try UBreakIFix for a screen replacement next.
@@ameliamena4670 Did ubreakfit wfix the problem? what ever it was
I am shocked that putting my Pixel 5A in the freezer actually did the trick! Backing this thing up immediately!
Hello, i have Google pixel 5a, this phone screen blackout problem. Your tips not worke. How to fixed it😢😢
I have a broken pixel 5a and I couldn't activate my google Fi on the new phone due to black screen. Step 1 worked on the first try but only lasted for 30 sec. Tried step 1 to 7 twice. Will take a break and try again tomorrow......
The fact that you even need to do this makes me question the quality of the hardware
Got this phone for my dad about a month ago and today it decided to black out. Tried everything, but the screen still won't turn on. I hope I can get a refund and use that to get him a Samsung
i this and it hasn't worked yet but im gonna keep trying cuz the comments are so positive.... fyi spamming the power button called 911
What about threats and foul language? Is that a helpful step?
😄
This saved me today. Thank you. My screen went black and I run my Dexcom G6 (constant glucose monitor for diabetes) through my phone. Found this video on my laptop and I was up and running in no time.
Second to last worked! Had to slap it really hard and I think I heard something click. Thank you!!
Did the freezer method work for anyone?
About to start on round #3 here but I'm wary of freezing it
Thank you so much!!! It finally worked after slapping it against my palm a few times.
DONT SPAM YOUR POWER BUTTON!
It will call emergency services.
Went through all the steps. Felt like I was going to break my phone. Literally as I set it in the freezer, my screen turned on, long reset and my screen seems to be working again.
Dear @worldoftech Thank you for this video! My phone did this on a business trip outside of the US, luckily I was able to google your video on my laptop and you SAVED me. The phone is my alarm, navigation etc.... Thanks for taking the time to make this video! Grateful for you!
Why does this happen i wanna know why it happened to me 2 times
Did the freezer method work for anybody? Im nervous to try that one. All the other steps didn't work either.
Is massaging the phone (or any of these other methods) likely only a temporary fix?
You needy to edit this video from the start. Repeatedly pressing the power button WILL SUMMON EMERGENCY SERVICES. Fortunately I was able to hit it and stop the call but geez.
These did not work for my phone. My phone is completely off, no sounds, no vibrations, nothing even when plugged in.
If nothing works, could be that the connector might be loose or the screen is totally lost? I have no repair options in my current country. It stopped working suddenly, came back two times forcing restart but the third was the charm and no massage is bringing it back to life. Still vibrates, alarm sounds, receives call, bluetooth works, etc.
Mine is the same, the screen is black, but I can answer the phone. Is your problem solved?
Can this work for a 4XL mine has black out as well
I could not believe the tapping would work, but it did. Thanks! Watched the rest of the video to see what could the next steps be
Me, too!!!! Thank you!!!!!!
I know right! It actually worked when I tapped it twice! WTF! I was so stressed out trying to figure out why my screen went black all of a sudden.
Mine did not worked 😭 And I think I hit it to hard and the screen broke...😭😭
The comments are not visible when doing a google search. spamming the power button calls 911. very embarrassing. and harmful. please edit your video, this video is harmful.
That’s only if u have sos emergency enabled. I never enable mine. Anyway I just noted this in the description thx.
@@WorldofTechfollowing your procedure also may have shorted my motherboard from affordable to fix, to google wont fix it ..
Don't mash buttons and don't massage the phone. it worsened the problem from easy to fix to broken.
Contact google to try to get a repair or replacement. the motherboard got fried on mine.. they were required to not fix it. Very strange.
Your the man!!! Thank you it worked, with the Display - Massage!
World of tech. Thank you so much it work on the first step. Awesome very happy
I had to hold the power button and the volume down key. I thought it might do a hard reset but it was normal. I tried the tapping and palm process like 8 to 10 times. Thank you
Smacking worked for me!
You are awesome 🎉
Thank you 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I got 3 days out of the smacking fix. Don't assume it's a permanent fix. Suggest transfer data over a new phone as soon as possible.
I tried this and my phone called and dialed 911. I would use caution on this method.
would this work if the battery is completely dead?
If battery dead then try to clean port w toothpick and remove any lint or dirt. Also try diff cable… also the second step of this video can help revive battery to charge too.
My phone is start show google but after that phone is turn off what is the reason plz any one??
I dropped my phone and now the screen won't turn on but I can hear the vibrations
(Some phones use Vol up, some use Vol Down)
I did all he said except the freezing part. My phone's still in black screen. I'm afraid of the cold temp for the phone.
@@Kievlar I'm having the same problem in my pixel 5a. Do you get a solution? I was trying all day these solutions but not worked for me
@@leonelcabrera3527 im having the same problem rn. did you find a solution?
Unfortunately no, the solution was to buy another one 😔
Healthy Li-Ion batteries can freeze just fine. Any battery's efficiency/output is reduced by cold temps, but there shouldn't be permanent damage from putting your phone in the freezer for 15 minutes. Maybe if the battery is at nearly 0% charge and you then put it in the freezer the voltage could drop to a low enough level that it will be unable to be recharged conventionally or will have a permanently reduced capacity.
Thank you so Much it's working...
