- I have a fondness for DVDs. It really showed us in the 90's and 2000's what watching a movie at
home could be like with menus, specials features, digital video and
hi-fidelity sound.
In 2024, we can still enjoy our silver disc in a new portable DVD players from a variety of vendors. I decided to try the YOTON Video Player, Model #YD155.
Does it make sense to own one today? Is this something decent for those who still watch and collect DVDs?

I think since laptop nowadays don't have built in DVD drive, this would be a great alternative. It's also nice that this can play video files from a USB drive. I think with the idea of only being strict to SD videos is weird. They could've just downconvert or play any HD videos as SD videos instead.
Thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching.
... or, just get an external dvd/bluray drive, and voila!
I have a cd collection from my father, some of my own dvds and a couple of blu-ray movies so I got a 1080p sony blu-ray player so that I can play my physical media.
The blu-ray player also comes with built-in apps but those will soon be obsolete because of lack of updates on my player.
Thanks for watching.
Great video. I was thinking of getting a similar device except for Blu-Rays. I guess they don't make the equivalent for 4K discs (or at least harder to find). It seems like they're phasing out these players though since it's hard to find name-brand ones now, especially true for the Blu-Ray players.
What confuses me is that you don't see many portable blu ray players. I have only seen Walmart's ONN brand as of late. I bought it since i have a mix of bluray and dvd that i would like to be able to play on the go.
Get an android tablet and a 1tb SD card, and load LineageOS onto the tablet. Don't need to lug around a stack of blurays, can compress them to HEVC if you want, and better battery life not running an optical drive
Thanks for watching.
i miss dvd menus 😢
Thanks for watching.
You should review a high quality portable record player the victrola revolution go
NO,NO,NO! Victrolas are known for having styli that damage your vinyls and overall portable record players damage your vinyl!!
@timrutten5990 but this one's got a magnetic cartridge so no its not gonna ruin your records
@@bubexpress5435 the sound quality of magnetic cartridges are vastly superior to a regular stylus, and the movements from yk carrying it around can also mess up audio
Thanks for watching. I do have an eye on something really interesting but need to recoup some funds. Stay tuned.
why not use the included joystick
I tired and it didn’t work. Based on the email, it requires a separate gamepad.
@@heywhatisnext it lack the good old 300vcd 😂
