This tenor player knows his history.. damn, hearing shades of Coleman Hawkins and Benny Golson all over the place. This is the jazz we need right here.
Back in 2016 I had the honour of helping care for my grandmother as we prepared to find a good nursing home for her. She had vascular dementia, she had worked at Whitehall as a "young girl" (her term) in WWII and had had a long life. When I was little girl she took me to see a showing od 101 Dalmations (the animated one) and as she drove me home, for she could in those days, she enthuased to me about thiis music called Jazz, told me how she loved it. The next day she gave me a bunch of casettes. After one particularly hard day in which she had been like a little girl in the morning, threatened to "lay one on you chum" with her tiny clenched fist (it was funny, I got my mom to take over and went home for an hours sleep) at lunch and now in the evening she had gone back to confused after a lucid few hours where she worried about losing her memories and dying of a brian tumour like her sisters had before so long ago ....we lapsed into silence, I put on one of her c.d's, the mournful beauty of some very bloozy Jazz (probably like your man @ianjohnson2428 says, Coleman Hawkins or some one of that calibre, whatever, that late night blooz that makes one think about smoking one more bowl and having one more gin, you know?) rolled out of her hi-fi. She was looking out of her window onto Caia Park (she and her partner were considerably wealthy, yet they lived in a council flat on one of the "worst"* housing estates in Gogledd Cymru) and she turned and said "I remember this, this is my music", she smiled and swayed and turned back to the window, doing some old lady boppin'..... This video recalled that to me. Its one of my favourite memories of her. She really was, to me , if not her own children, a Grand Mother. Thanks...keep laying it on us. * I know nuff people from Caia Park and they are pure salt of the Earth. Don't believe the hype.
These cats are swinging! I love seeing a real groove with modern attire. Forgive me if I say I'm impressed. You've inspired me to get back to the shed ✌️🏼
I remember as a kid 60 years ago hearing this on AM radio while my dad drove in the car.. that's right.. some great jazz stations late at night as a teenager in NYC back in the day.. shows you how far people have fell.. just keep playing this music and keep it out there
"Centerpiece", composed by Great Master "Sweets" Edison. Great interpretation you guys. LOVE IT A LOT !!! Please, more and more and more !!! Thanks a million !
@@anthonycardott3541 Indeed. I could have to do it in a costume 😅. Jk I'm happy to have the opportunity to gig but definitely looking to move past the cover band shows.

That sax is soul balsam. Really
This is so true to older music and doesn’t sound like it’s trying to be too modern or anything it’s not
