the original has such strong cadence, he just went with it. but the guitar pulls him off the exact but still, insanely good. Hope he don't try the exorcism one!
This is my fav song from My Life in The Bush of Ghost. David here is a fuckin madman genius out of his mind I love him too much. Not to mention I love how the girl sings!
I'm not a huge fan of Talking heads but I've always considered them a top notch band. David Byrne, on the other hand, is a genius at what he does. I've played this one from MLITBOG so many times. My favorite one from the album.
I don't know what to say.Speechless!! Awesome.is not enough.!OK I knew about David and his madness. But these vocals by Cristina Wheeler.!!!Amazing..Sei bravo doudforever..Grazie for uploading..
Still into the sound of the studio version. Something about the preacher’s voice and the guitar together is so tonally satisfying. And the ‘girl’is a woman, for all those calling her a girl. And yes she does sing well with David Byrne. Wonder what happened for her after this recording.
this music has everything spicy in it Byrne is a master in creating nervers kind surroundings with lots of humor , I ILOVE it great art. since it came out
I’m só glad it’s actually david byrne himself who’s shouting out the lyrics on this number of my life in the bush of ghosts! After hearing ‘home’ in stop making sense, it very reasuring that it actualy ís david. Thank you for this upload, it proves that i keep learning new things everyday.😀
Does anyone have this in mp3 or know if it is available to purchase anywhere. Never thought I would hear a better version than on the Eno/Bryne LP. Kudos!!
an addictive beat.............and must be focused to play,,,,,or just have natural rhythm....I really like their version of: Take Me to the River............
There is no comparisons. This was before sampling, actually inspired it. Kraftwerk, who were around before this, did interesting things too and some of their work shows up as samples in other artists work. Dense syncopated works can be found here and there but to this level, very few, if any.
It's a TV taping with cameras on tracks all around the seated audience including directly above their heads. I attended at least 10 of these tapings. If you wanted a seat, you had to sit still. I often preferred to try to get there just in time to NOT get a seat. If you were standing behind where the camera's were shooting you were free to bop around,
The whole album is. Growing up Catholic they used to say Holy Ghost before they updated it to the Holy Spirit. Bush of ghosts is a reference to Moses? Seems like a sly way of throwing all this into one album. So avant-garde and entertaining and still, forty years after the original release, timeless.
How the phuq Dr. Byrne managed to perform a live version of this is nothing short of extraordinary. Brilliant. Soooooooooooo tight, it's not true.

Yeah not really
this music is still fresh and awesome since the day it was created 1981. One of my fave all time albums. David Byrne is so rocking here.
He made music for himself, sometimes other people liked it.
Help me somebody...this live performance is so 'effin brilliant!!!
Has any other song from My Life in the Bush of Ghosts ever been performed live? I'd truly love to know because this performance is an all time legend.

That was surprising. Different. Nice build up, gave me the chills at the end. This could have gone on longer- the intensity was getting epic.

Never thought there'd be a live version of this. I still prefer the sampled radio preacher version on Bush of Ghosts, but this is pretty good.
Talking Heads, with everyone or just David and et al...
Truly fun 🙂

This is almost 40 years ago :)
Don't care for her voice, but David is great!
three lines in the lyrics of this song cribbed from you can't bypass this love by the hesitations go figure that
David, did you get that leisure suit from George Jones? Lol
Why aren't the audience up and moving to the music?I wouldn't be able to just sit through this.No.Most certainly not!!
Some people get more out of a song just sitting and grooving to it than by flailing around.
It's a TV taping with cameras on tracks all around the seated audience including directly above their heads. I attended at least 10 of these tapings. If you wanted a seat, you had to sit still. I often preferred to try to get there just in time to NOT get a seat. If you were standing behind where the camera's were shooting you were free to bop around,
@JZJYRWO no lemme know if u do!
I don't know how everyone stayed seated.
will that girl please marry me? thank you.
What can I say. 🤷
😄
ENO = mc²
Oh no, hang on, towards the end one person can be spotted tapping his right foot...
Aflo funk punk
Pity, the entire audience seems comatozed...
Voices of ghosts
