Wow great info!! You even got the real life footage of Martha laughing at one of his shows. The only thing is why is he calling her Martha when her name is Fiona?
I'm curious about something, because I had it on one of my RUclips premium playlists, what happened to your video about the Luka Magnotta doc?
American here. What exactly is a Geordie? I have heard that word before used by someone from the UK but I don’t know if it’s a political position or a profession.
The fact Gadd didn't sugar-coat anything including his own faults (and really dark times) made the show an amazing watch.
Makes no sense. How do you know there isn't even darker things to him? He admitted to following her home and peeping through her windows because he was confronted over email and had to make an excuse for it.
Admitting to being a weirdo doesn't mean you haven't been up to more weird activities.
@@Disinfo321 Victim blaming .

The craziest part of the story arguably is not her. It’s why he put up with her for as long as he did - his own trauma. They were trauma bonding. He even said she needed help and felt sorry for her. It makes you reflect more on mental health because what good is being in and out of prison going to be for her and the world. She needs lots of therapy and medication. I’ve heard she has NPD, BDP - seemingly stemming from childhood neglect as portrayed in the final scene. You’d feel better knowing she was getting the help she needs.
I,ve been diagnosed with bpd but i don't carry off like that nutcase!!! Its a excuse for being a psychotic buffoon!!!😂 Just saying! 🤘😉🤘
yes i found myself getting SO annoyed with him for putting up with her - i get the idea of trauma bonding but he was so passive with his abuser too - very sad situation- i hope he is stronger now
@@margaretk1962 i think he wanted to confront him but went into survival mode as they call it. I think it’s all part of the brilliance of the show bc victims returning to their abusers is a real thing that happens & something a lot of us have questioned - and here is this horrific example he was brave enough to share. Probably something worth us all taking the time to understand. I’ve watched analysis and the psychology of it all and am still intrigued
@@margaretk1962from personal experience it’s due to very low self-esteem
@naj2276 I agree low self esteem will do that to you also from my experience
If there's any possibility of getting Richard Gadd on for a podcast, that'd be amazing!
They both love bum stuff
Agreed
Agreed, but I don't think Gadd will come on after this video as to me it seems TG completely missed the ending. Calling this woman fat, ugly, a freak, saying she deserves everything she gets etc was pretty shocking in my opinion honestly. I can only assume TG missed the ending

I liked how he didn't fully demonize her despite her being convicted of stalking and really messing with his life. He really showed how much he related to her and how people can be affected by their trauma to do "crazy" things.
The real story here is that she has never been convicted of stalking. WTF.
Traumatic experiences are ok! We all have them. People do their best on traumas too. Not just negative. Traumas are normal part of life.

I particularly liked Donny's dad as he didn't mince his words with her.
Totally loved the dad in this ❤️ the most beautiful, powerful scene in which he is coming out to his parents and his dad asked him if he would be less of a man to, then the catholic church bit total tore me up ❤
The actress that portrayed Martha was incredible. She deserves all the awards seeing how much she resembles Fiona.
Yes, we need a Baby Reindeer 2!!!!
Amazing how folk are more concerned about Martha/fiona rather that the real rapist who is still free.
Exactly!!!!
People must have an idea of who the "producer" is?
So you know for a fact that the rape that happened in the series, done by Martha didn't really happen? She's a rapist too - and a stalker.

His dad was bloody hilarious
I wonder if he asked his dad he could publicly say he was r worded by a priest. Cause he claimed he told his parents not to watch certain episodes

He had his own condition called Stockholm syndrome which made him do weird things, he couldn’t control his urges, that’s why he kept going back and forth to his stalker and the guy with the drugs. I don’t think he even realised he had this condition at the time, before all this started to unravel
I was abused by someone who was supposed to care for me too and I don't know that it's necessarily stolckhome syndrome. For me personally I felt stuck but not necessarily empathy for this person. I'm sure there's degrees of Stockholm syndrome and not everyone's experience is the same . My experience was similar though I'm a way that I felt like there was no where to turn and no point in confrontation. Yes abuse can definitely mess with you but I'm not sure that he feels any empathy towards his abuser and usually that's a trait in stolckhome.i think that I see allot of myself in gadd and one trait in common is that we're both scared to be mean. Sometimes when we've gone through abuse we become nice to a fault because we don't want to treat others the way we were treated and we attract some awful people for sure.
As I understand it "Stockholm syndrome" was made up to try and make a hostage victim look bad and avoid police being criticised
There’s something hilarious about a stalker who ruined lives is complaining for being stalked lmao. She is absolutely crazy. The stuff she’s saying in her Facebook is wild. She genuinely thinks she’s beautiful and the smartest person around.
Narcissism.
I think she has narcissistic disorder hence why she thinks she is smart, beautiful, important and confident.
That's narcissistic personality for you.
I sometimes found it difficult to watch and had to pause at times. The show felt incredibly realistic and emotionally intense. It takes you on a journey of various emotions, eventually leading to a place of love, understanding, and non-judgment. It helps you accept the character and their mistakes, just as they try to understand the motives of their persecutor. Overall, this show is a true work of art.
So true 👍
Well said by you and the story. So,so powerful
The r-pe episode made me sick. This guy should be reported to the police, I am 101% convinced this is not the first or the last time he did this to someone.
I cant decide if I should watch it or not...?
@@BobbiGail you should it’s a piece of art :))) &@&$ at the same time :)))
Myself and my husband encountered “Martha “ she used to drink in our pub that my hubby was the manager of. She would only talk to males and was quite rude to us women staff. She did annoy our regulars by trying to talk to them when they were just trying to have a quiet drink. She came in one day with a big satchel and pulled out loads of letters ect and spread them all over her table telling people she was a lawyer and she was working. Not once did she read any of them just had them there. She would only buy 1 drink and make it last for a good few hours. My hubby had to tell her that if she wanted to stay she would have to buy a drink which she wasn’t happy about but she did buy 1. Then We started getting complaints sent through from an anonymous customer saying that it was very noisy on Friday and Saturday nights. We had an idea who it was but couldn’t prove it. Then suddenly “Martha “ stopped coming in. We were told that she actually lived in the flats near our pub so we guessed it was her. She also used to put letters in her neighbours letter boxes complaining that they were noisy.
Was her name Fiona Harvey

Gadd had already said his real life stalker did not go to prison, that it was resolved another way. This is Gadd’s story, it belongs to him, the shows he has produced drawing from his life have helped him heal. He’s turned the trauma in his life into a gift, kudos to him. Fiona stands to cash in as well now too, and it looks to me like shes already made a good start on this. Gadd’s account is open and honest, he bared all. He clearly has good human ethics and morals. Personally, I’m happy for his success. Let’s also not forget, he remains silent, whereas she has outed herself.
Can you put this much research into finding out who the comedy agent was who sexually abused him ?
No chance. Gary reich likely has a few bob to sue him .
A lot of names have been speculated on. A bit unfair on , ones that are not guilty.
Exactly this !
Hats off to the main actors in the movie! They were fantastic and deserve an Oscar (or an Emmy). 😀
Did you know the main actor played himself?
@@jenninscho1980 yes I did

Love it when you do these.. sometimes haven't got time to watch the whole doc, you break it down amazingly
I am so picky and don't enjoy lots of TV but this show is one of the best I've seen.
I can’t imagine the terror he must have felt at times.
The number of WTF moments in that show - must surely be some sort of record!
This series is basically about the dangers of being a pushover or too nice a person and also how sexual abuse is a vicious cycle where the abused go on to become abusers because they’re broken
He never became an abuser tho.. he was the victim of grooming.. he never became a grapist
Not all who are abused become abusers, but yes they can certainly fall into the traps of repeat cycles. It’s not about dangers of “being too nice” though. You can be a really nice person AND have healthy boundaries. Healthy personal boundaries are a clear must. Especially when you spot red flags
Yep. It was very eyeopening.
I was abused, never abused anyone. I also don't find myself to be broken. Your statement is ignorant and disgusting.
@@lexi-the-hildafolk6300 no it isn’t, you just misinterpreted it. I never said that everyone who gets abused becomes abusers but lots of abusers are perpetuating the cycle.
I was gripped by the series and couldn’t stop watching. There were times it was extremely confronting and so sad to watch. But I’m glad he’s spoken his truth. As they say “truth will out”
Great video, I love your directness 🙌
This is why I don’t talk to strangers
Lets just say it was very uncomfortable to watch, but impossible not to....
I've been there with boundaries and 3 guys in my life. Some people just didn't grow up with boundaries. I think he's brave AF for admitting everything and the abuse
I met my current fella over the offer of a cup of tea. 5 years later still going strong. Massive difference is that we got our own lives that are way too interesting for us to go stalking each other and we got something to talk about when we meet up.😃
Don't understand your point
i enjoy these different topics , keep it up G
It's scary because I actually had a stalker. Luckily to my knowledge it didn't last too long but I in fact don't know. They're very good about getting away with it. My stalker Was a security guard at my job so he was able to watch me all day, I spoke to this man once He made a whole relationship up in his head and everyone thought he was just telling the truth.
Yeah I was stalked and my sister is a lot like Martha so this show hit close to home
@@user-gu7kk5zk2b I'm so sorry I honestly relate to both. My husband was listening to the interview with the real " Martha" and the first thing that came out of his mouth was " she's just like your brother". Constantly lying to the point they believe their lies and In my brothers case he was diagnosed as anti social personality disorder with sociopathy. I don't tell Many people I just keep him out of our lives because he wound up being my abuser , but if it helps someone not feel so alone then I'm glad to share my experience. I do hope you've found peace, usually people like " Martha" as a sibling can be a very hard experience.
@@user-gu7kk5zk2b and I'm sorry I'm not trying to assume anything or open any wounds I just know from experience how a sibling like her is awful and In my case until recently I felt super alone. Watching the show actually made me cry and realize I'm not the only one with a Martha. My brother would kind of stalk me too but not in the same way. He would try to find my social media and get my number . He can just not accept that I can't stand him, that's the narcissistic part of them. But if your experience was harmful to you in any way please know I'm sorry 😔 and you're not alone .

The actress who portrayed Martha Jessica may be overweight but she is a beautiful woman. She did a great job jumping into a character like that! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The best I’ve watched on this show 😂 don’t hold back 👏🏼
She reminds me of the Kathy Bates character Annie Wilkes in misery, complete nutcase.
Indeed!!
Richard Gad has said in interviews that he didn’t want Martha to be doxxed. That wasn’t the point of the showZ
i really liked the first 3 episodes when it was about "Martha" the actress jessica dunning stole the show. wasnt expecting the 4th episode and the whole depressing parts about grooming/abuse and him being a confused closet bi-sexual 🤷♀ found it a bit depressing. Although after reflecting on it its a powerful piece of tv because of that stuff. reminded me of trainspotting in a way.
one of my favorite people to watch always honest and says it how it is.

Richard’s father in the story is my favorite. Power scene, good storyline relevant to today’s families absolutely society. Thank you for mentioning it. Wish more channels would - love that actor who played the dad. Cheers from California
Same here - that was my favorite chapter in the series - loved when his dad asked "Donny" if he would think less him.
Epic.
Stop the cycle, don't continue it.
where's the cycle....
It was a crazy story but so well made. Gave us all an insight into mental illness of the enth degree!! Brilliant! But very sad you can see the 2 sides of it!
The woman is completely unhinged.
Absolute bonkers! 🤪
Have you been on her Facebook page, totally nuts.
Its crazy how the guy was re acting the events the fact it actually happened to him is so brave of him and the actress who plays Martha did a amazing performance you get so lost in the character fully and almost forget this is a actress portraying a part. All this stuff is the type of thing where you think “this aint real”
Yep, some fair comments in there. Richard Gadd was put through hell and suffered. He put pen to paper and has made a few quid from it. The writing, and acting by Gunning, is so creepy when you see the Piers Morgan interview and compare the real person. Don't get me wrong, I think she clearly has mental health issues, but just because somebody is mentally ill it doesn't stop them being a total tool. I would say that a great part of a person's personality is formed by past traumas, but using those traumas to justify being shitty to others is not on, and she deserves to be called out for it.
Your intro felt personal haha good vid man

Riveting entertainment. I've watched it twice, now. Even if the story weren't claimed to be true, the show is SO WELL CRAFTED: produced, acted, edited, scripted, cast, scored, etc. It goes DEEP! Bared raw. The scene with the parents? OMG...heart-wrenching. An emotional rollercoaster indeed. Plus, I'm a sucker for a voice-over. Fekkin' LOVED IT!

Loved the series!!! One of the most disturbing & brilliant shows I’ve ever watched. Jessica is amazing as Martha!!! Poor Richard . He went through hell.
I had to stop a few times with the man who really messed him up. Hard you watch. The part where he tells his parents was the best part. I like how the people weren't portrayed as one dimensional. There was more than one victim and he knew his choices weren't the best. Even the ending with the free drink suggests that victims often become abusers.

My thoughts exactly 💯. It’s so sad that it’s so real !
Richard Gadd did something really brave by telling his personal stories, even if some of them could make people treat him unfairly. By sharing, he's not only helping himself feel better but also showing others that they're not alone if they're going through tough times too. It's like he's saying, "Hey, I've been there too." That kind of openness can make people feel more connected and supported.
What I worry about with daily mail naming her and interviewing her, it could reengage the abuse towards her prev victim
Yeah, she is getting unnecessary attention out of all this.
