@ioWANFarmer that's cool to see Steve in the videos I need to get down there and see him again, Steve is a really good guy and it's just really cool to see him in your videos.
Alright......you got me...THAT is cool. I put one in my shop when I did the floor, but it's covered with individual pieces of oak full thickness 2x12 lumber so it will hold about anything I drive over it. Pain to remove them one by one, but the pit is sure handy.
Nice looking pit that certainly makes for a more comfortable and versatile work environment. As an Aussie it's also always nice to hear about local inventions and technology being successfully adopted overseas.
We put a pit in our new shop. At first it was to make putting the kernel processor in the forage harvesters and realized it is also awesome for greasing live bottom forage wagons. Was the best investor ever made
I have an 8200 that I want to put the newer marker lights on so I was wondering if you would be able to send me a couple of pictures of how the brakes mount
I saw a pit in an old service station garage area years ago, loved it so much,I put one in when building my garage. The lifts you can buy are nice but I'd rather have a pit. I don't have a hydraulic set up,just a ladder. Great video!
I love it , thanks for the tour ! The shop pit really looks better as a feller get's older when the knee ,back and elbow joints just don't work as well as they used to in the younger day's . LOL!
Curious if they left an access to get under the platform for cleaning. I've always wanted a pit and never considered adding hydraulics to it. Excellent presentation.
I would imagine the top plate is removable for access underneath. It’s likely a series of scissor mechanisms (depending on the length of the pit) so the hydraulics would be fairly exposed.
Wonder if it could be made for the pit floor to go above the shop floor level and with addition of moveable blocks placed under axle/body points lift a vehicle off the ground to service wheels?
Just found this channel. Liking what I am seeing, except for the point at 1:05 when you put it in gear !! I used to love driving tractors, but looking at that, your machine bears as much resemblance to the tractors I knew as a 58 ford bears to the starship Enterprise !!!!! I Enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work !!!
I like the fact that it’s even with the floor when not in use(very safe). I’m going to guess with all the engineering that goes into it and each one is custom built, they’re going to cost a significantly more than a above ground hoist. I would love one in my garage though!! Thanks for sharing
Just found this video and was interested in how the pit was made and that was very good , nice looking shop too , with a bonus in the begining of the video in the back ground , l was surprised to see the wheel trencher , or as some people call it ( the ditcher ) setting there ready for work and coils of tubing or ( pipe ) . I used to work with that machine for many years , l started in 1974 at 16 and worked about 10 years in farm drainage and excavating for the former owner of the trencher , Robert W. ( Bill ) Keller , from Pa. When l started when the trencher was his only machine and the excavating business grew from there . That trencher also is what lead to the start of Fry,s Plastic Pipe , a business that is very large now , also. A good working machine that was keep in good repair and serviced daily when in use . That is why a machine that was built in 1959 is still working yet . I saw it was for sale some years and didn't know what happened to it . Good to see it is still working . Please forward this text to you freind that owns the trencher . Would be nice if you could do a video of that trencher working so a lot of people could see what it does and how fast it can lay pipe on grade in the ground in good working conditions . Rocky ground not so good if to many . Average day would be 1500 to 2000 feet day . I have seen as little as 300 feet a day in a swamp with the duel tires on the trencher and in to the frame in mud and winching ( that place is dry and grows nice corn now , one would never be allowed to drain that place in today's world ) to as much as 2500 feet in a day and still move the trencher to the job next job site at end of the day , long day was dark . We would go from the field and hook the trencher to the back of the dump truck in 15 minutes and be going down to the road to the next job , we had a good system . Did not take much longer a load and hull on a trailer after he got one . Quite the machine to drive on the road too and not the safest eather . Hopefully the trencher will keep drying farm land for a lot more years . That machine should go to some of the old machinery shows , would be a good place to show people how it works and the job that it can do for the farm land . Good seeing the trencher again !
And Michael Bloomberg said farmers are smart you can tell right there that guy was pretty Dang smart That thang right there definitely help you work smarter not harder
That was awesome never seen a pit like that and i had a buddy who's pit was 75 ft. long with lights and drain power and air about every 20 ft and i thought that was the cats meow !
I am a huge fan of this oil-change pit video. I want this to be the very very very very very very best comment for this video. I enjoy, really really enjoy all your work. (I want a sticker). nose to the grindstone.
Great video, could not have come at a better time, I'm building a new shop [108 x 106] I want a pit and my son does not, he thinks it will be a waste of money. I'm going to show him this, I think he would like it.
When in a pit, one must remember if using propane that there is always a flame to burn the gas. From what I remember in a newspaper article there was a death in a pit because it fill with propane gas displacing the air and the mechanic died.
Every engineer should have to change oil on equipment before they can design engines. Maybe the filters and drain plugs could then be in accessible spots.
Great vid👍in Australia rules having a pit is safety like lighting, ventilation as pit is class as confined space. A pit is much cheaper then having specialists tractor jacks which needs mandatory safety checks yearly, if I decide put pit in, I would also have a sub frame over the pit so I spilt the tractor apart.
@ioWANFarmer that's cool to see Steve in the videos I need to get down there and see him again, Steve is a really good guy and it's just really cool to see him in your videos.

Nice set up. I was trying to figure out who you reminded me of. It finally came to me. It’s that kid Russel from the movie UP! 😁
This is an amazing shop pit. I think it would really help a lot of people to have one of these. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Owen Miller thanks for watching!

Simon B that is awesome that an Aussie design made it over here!
@@iowANFarmer mind you we designed the blue heeler as well and everyone needs one of those... ;)
Great videos that to easy for a oil change but nice looking pit
It sure is!
Every gearhead needs one of those. This Iowa boy would love a sticker. Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks for sharing that very cool !!!!
That's cool man I need one of them for myself. Every farmer should hav one of them in there shop. I enjoy your RUclips channel kept it up.
T Lawton thanks for watching!
Love the video and ready for field work
Me too!
Very cool shop pit.
I’ve never seen anyone wear such a clean coat to drop 30 qts of oil. I would literally wear that coat to church.
That's a very nice pit I bet you want one
SURE DO! and the big old shop to go around it!
Now that is a SLICK PIT !!!!!
Such a PIT-A-FULL WONDERFUL idea! Everyone needs a Blueheeler!
That is sweet! We could so use one of those Pits up here in Bird Island Minnesota.
How much weight will it bear if you have to drive across it?
Thanks for the low down on that pit.

What a huge safety option for pits. great video

That has got to be the slickest pit I have ever seen
These are really great. A safer version of a hoist in many ways.

Whats everyone think that thing costs. 40 to 60 k installed.

Love that garage pit. Dang but that is nice.
Love following along with your channel. How many quarts or gallons of oil does that tractor require?
Chase Willsey 22.5 if I remember correctly
Seriously buckets!!! Oil caddy all the way
G'day great video mate and now i want a that cool shop pit.
I have watched all your videos dude you put on some awesome content
ihavethebeer 83 they thanks for the support!
That’s a great invention
Everybody needs a shop pit....... and a blue healer!!!!!
That shop is the pits!
I want one! Super neat.
All it needs is a rolling belly pan and it would be SWEEET!
Watching from Nevada staying entertained keep it up ol son.
Joel Robles will do!
That's a badass pit

Very cool pit !!
A hoist in reverse. That is awesome! Everybody needs one of those!
In iowa are the liquor stores deemed essential in a shelter in place order. Found out today they are in Wisconsin.🤔
Awesome pitt

Trick for the oil filter punch hole in bottom of filter before you remove it drains oil and less spillage.

Those pits look amazing. Just curious on how easy it will be to change out the rubber hydraulic lines if one breaks or springs a leak somewhere?
DOUGLAS RAFFLER really easy. You can access everything with panels.
It's all about the tools!
Would love this for doing oil changes on my semi. Will keep in mind for when I buy a shop someday.
That is a pretty cool pit system.
Thank you like the pit
Thanks for watching!
That's the coolest pit I ever seen seams safer than a open pit
That 8100 is a nice tractor!!!!!
Great video!
Hello also from iowa too
Mr buck Ever gotta like I Iowa viewer!
Can you access under the plate for cleaning up dirt and oil spills?
You sure can, there is an access door on both ends with a ladder that turns into a safety stop so the floor cant come down when you are under it.
that pit is sweet!
What you up to one hat per video? LOL That pit is a great idea! Thanks for showing it to us.

Talk about shop dreams. Changing oil on the big JD's is way cooler than my little 3 series. Keep vids coming.

i love these videos it just happens to be my birthday.
Jake Humphrey happy birthday!
Is that deck strong enough that you can drive over it when it is up at floor level?
i drove the tractor over it going into the shop.
I thought about doing something like that for a new shop a while ago before divorce made farming a habit I couldn't support.
Damn nice shop
So because it opens and closes like that It doesn't have like the real system so you can catch the oil in those pans and stuff I'm guessing right?
Damn Ben, you need a pit like that!!!
The Maxwell Smart of pits
I think Larson Farms needs one of those for their pit.
Randy Kovalenko it would look awesome in their shop!
Good video I didn't even know u have a pit. Do you buy your oil in bulk?
Chase Purifoy it wasn’t my pit unfortunately. We buy oil in 5 gal buckets

have you dreamt up a design for that??

I'd love to know what that pit costs in a few different sizes! Definitley a want in my dream shop!

It should be obvious. 😀
That is an amazing idea. I worked for an excavation company for 7 years and they had a pit to work in but not that nice 👍
How long before you start getting seed in from champion?
I’ve already got the first semi load in. Second one comes Friday!
iowANFarmer are you going to make a video on the seed deliveries?
Did I just see a green General tool box from Harbor Freight in the background? I am sure I did.
Tim Gilchrist it sure was
Ben you really should get Molly on of those pits since she is a truck mechanic now. She moght even let you use it,
Thomas Wilson I think that justified!
Would it be safe to assume that if I'm wondering the cost, then it's not for me?
Call and chat with him!
I have a pit in my shop. It has a dirt floor and the dog dug a hole under the tractor.
Gud nuf lol that’s funny stuff!
Sounds like a great system but I would hate to see the sticker on on that sucker lol probably enough to give some folks a mild heart attack lol
Looks wonderful but isn't 2000# light for a heavy equipment operation. Drive one wheel onto the pit platform and you could make an expensive mistake.
oldvideodude there are fail safes in place.
Any idea what the dimensions are on the pit?
