      When you did the engrave test did you input your material size or use a PG setting?

    • @ThingsKatieMakes
      @ThingsKatieMakes  2 года назад +1

      @@Shop5ever I always start with a proofgrade that’s similar so I can see what the power they recommend is - so, for example if I’m testing 1/8” Sapele, I may try medium walnut so I can see the power they have for and SD engrave. I never enter a material height, just use autofocus

    The first thing I did was engraved patches for my kids' mesh backpacks for school. I also scored their names into their pencils and made them each a pencil box too.

    Thank you for this video! I have had my glow forge for a few months, but just got the nerve to start with it today. I made the gift of good measure. That went great. My question is I downloaded the peg pens, but what do I do to get them to the glow forge to cut. I can figure out the glow forge machine, but where Im going to have a hard time is the computer side of it. Like to import that file into glow forge, and if so, how? Any help is appreciated.

    • @ThingsKatieMakes
      @ThingsKatieMakes  5 месяцев назад

      You should see a place to import a design in the Glowforge software and you’ll find the SVG file you’ll want to upload from there - if you’re in the screen that shows your laser bed - it will be the big plus sign

    Great video. Great ideas. I just got my Glowforge today. I need help though. I do not understand what to do with the Power Test. Can someone please explain that to me? I sure would appreciate it greatly. Thank you!!!

    • @ThingsKatieMakes
      @ThingsKatieMakes  Год назад

      Hi Paige - the power test will let you see what sort of "markings" you get at each level of power, so you can understand what a material will take to cut/score/engrave and achieve the results you want. So you compare your speed/power combinations to get your desired result

    What kinds of materials can you use with this? And where can you buy these? For example, can I buy acrylic from Hobby lobby or wood from Lowes?

    • @ThingsKatieMakes
      @ThingsKatieMakes  2 года назад +2

      Acrylic is best bought from small biz supplier - like custom made better, Houston acrylic or craft closet supply. Bit wood can absolutely be purchased from your local lowes or Home Depot? Just need to make sure it fits the bed size!

    Thank you Katie! I’m going to start on these projects. I just made my first project as per the Instructions that came with GF. Have a question how do I access the free trial? I can click on the free trial but I don’t where to see everything that the trial offers or the home page of the premium access. If you could please guide me that would be great.

    • @ThingsKatieMakes
      @ThingsKatieMakes  2 года назад +1

      Hi Amira - it activates automatically and will just be mainly integrated with your dashboard so it isn't "obvious" what is premium vs. what isn't. If you can see the shapes tool and the text tool when you are in the Glowforge screen (looking at your material) you have premium rocking!
