Knowing Odin's scheming abilities, there's probably a good chance Odin encouraged Heimdall to antagonize Atreus even infront of himself so he can try and be friendly with Atreus to win his trust. definitely an idea though.

Maybe he teleported Atreus outside of Asgards walls knowing Atreus would have to breach the wall and run into Heimdall. Heimdall would do his job like usual and then Odin gets to come in and save the day and to Heimdall and Atreus this all happens organically.

No, this is not true for the soul fact that EVEYRYONE in Asgard wants Odin's approval or attention. Heimdall, Thor and Baldur all want Daddy's attention and Heimdall has bo ability to be deceiving. He is what you get he has foresight...he sees the worst in people and it was no trick from Heimdall but Odin knew his Aesir would be quite rough.
Odin takes advantage of this and we see how the boys all submit to their father and long for his love.
Baldur couldn't psychically love/feel anything, so he went crazed for that feeling.
Thor is clearly the same, wants his father's approval after all the Giants he made Thor slay. But Thor becomes depressed about being a monster. But he's odins tool not son.
Heimdal wants all fathers attention like a lost puppy and will remain loyal to the end
..Odin forced loyalty on them and if they show the most loyalty and blind following the all father favoured them.
      Look at Magni and Modi
Magni was overconfident most likely didn't obey Odin at every whim so he sent them put to die against this Giant or foreign God.

I’m surprised that he became my favorite character introduced in Ragnarok and my favorite Norse God. I love just how Baldur’s “blessed with invulnerability to all threats physical or magical” came at a price of not being able to feel literally anything Heimdalls foresight comes at a cost of seeing only the worst of people which makes him jaded and unable to trust anyone leading to being hated by everyone. He’s massively underrated as a legitimate threat because he doesn’t have titanic strength like Thor or Hercules but he doesn’t need it as his other abilities/skills more than make up for it. Aside from his power of foresight (which is the greatest form we’ve seen in the series), he’s the only enemy to have the ability to realm shift by altering time, his mastery of the Bifrost is rivaled only by Odin as both can create a Bifrost armor/covering and can use it offensively, his speed while not as fast as Hermes in my opinion is still superior to every other god, and his hand to hand skills as well as swordsmanship make excellent use of his foresight using swift strikes such as a sword tilt to the stomach to put his enemy on his knees before they can react. The only complaint I have is I would have preferred that he liked animals because he can see they have no ulterior motives and it would also serve as a way for him to be more as a rival to Atreus/Loki both of them being fond of animals for different reasons.

Lots of people in Asgard have bad parents and jobs they don't really like, though. Thrud wants to be a Valkyrie but her parents don't want her to. And Thrud is a well-liked and kind person. Asgard dislikes Heimdall because he's mean, not because he has a bad job or he's some misunderstood prodigy.
If you know for a fact that everyone you meet is lying to you and to themselves, then you can just as easily learn not to hold it against them, because you also know they can't help themselves. Not to mention that you also have the power to see the good in people, to see when someone genuinely has no malice towards you. Being mean is always a choice.

Heimdall's character is so unique. When Odin said "Sometimes he just doesn't think, y'know" got me "think"ing. Heimdall either can sees through people's mind or can sense threats. He knows their intentions but doesn't "think" to understand why. Sure, it's depressing and torturous to see how horrible people are, but you just gotta understand why, before comes into conclusion about who they really are. Heimdall's power is really good, but he just won't stop thinking that they are bad just because they have bad intentions, resulting him being such an asshole to anyone even though they've never done anything to him YET. That's why Heimdall's character is so unique, but boy he could've gone through a better route if he changed the way he "thinks".

Heimdall: he means to betray you allfather.
Odin: Of course he means to betray me. Do you know who tf i am to them? I've given them no reason to trust me. So before you go around killing my guests, exercise some THOUGHT and his bad intentions won't seem bad. it'll just seem like common sense.
There's a difference between intentions and actions. What a person wants to do, wishes they could do, can do and will do are all mutually exclusive. Heimdall doesn't "think" he thinks at face value which makes him seem stupid and an asshole to everyone else cause if i have intentions of cheating, but never do and resist that urge, its not a bad intention, its just a natural urge and i'm actually good for resisting that. Heimdall thinks you're an asshole for daring to be attracted to someone else and treats you like it. Are those 3 the only ones that have accents and if so why? It’s so stupid and inconsistent. I really liked the small touch in the end where Heimdall asks what happens in the "empty head" of Kratos. To me it's not only an insult of his barbaric ways, but rather disbelief. Through the last two games Kratos teached Atreus to harness his panic and use it in the fight, to clear his mind and close his heart. Additionally, when he hunted he teached him to see the enemy or prey only as a target, limiting his emotions to a bare minimum. My theory would be that Kratos won not only by overloading Heimdall's senses with the Draupnir spear but also by limiting his ability to forsee his next move by blocking Heimdall from reading his mind during the fight. Simply because when the time calls for it, he is able to fight with an "empty" calm mind . He even aknowledge it when he sits with Thor in the begining of the game answering his question about being calm and reasonable.

I feel like the developers had a different idea for how Heimdall was supposed to look between games given the early picture we see of him. The clean shaven appearance fits him better anyways, as a nice foil to Thor whose messy look shows how little he thinks of himself, Heimdall's lack of beard and short finely cut hair emphasizes how highly he thinks of himself with how much he has to put into his appearance.
While he doesn't look like much, when the initial fight starts, you notice "he doesn't have a life bar." This is a nice break from how forgettable most of the gods in the older games were, Heimdall is a supporting villain, but he's still nicely built up someone you can love to hate and enemy who has weight in the story since it takes a new weapon forged specifically to kill him to stand a chance, and even then it still takes some quick thinking on Kratos' part to use it right.

Thor as the one that is willing to change but has been manipulated by Odin to the point where fighting his influence was futile and eventually lead to his death. As well as showing an unhealthy way to cope with grief, being a reminder of Kratos himself.
Odin being the mastermind in all of this where he never was really shaken and now we know why at the end. 15:54 There are about 1,329,832 Draupnir copies in the cave (+1 original)! Draupnir has been in that cave for about 4104 of our years. See below for math.
Draupnir creates 8 copies of itself on every 9th day. Roughly 324 new rings appear during each of our years. This ring looks like it's about 1cm thick, and the average ring diameter for men is about 1.6cm. Accounting for material thickness, let's say each ring is (roughly) a cylinder with a radius of 1cm and a height of 1cm. This gives us a volume of 3.14 cubic centimeters. Densely packed circles (hexagonal arrangement) fill 91% of the space they occupy. Let's be charitable and say that the rings are packed fairly densely - maybe 80%, accounting for the fact that rings can intersect each other slightly and that a bunch of disc-shaped objects will most likely settle parallel to the floor. For the Z dimension, let's assume that the rings are stacked in 1.2cm-thick layers (it won't be perfect, obviously - I chose this arbitrarily). A cubic meter would contain about 21,165 rings. (~83 layers, each layer has a total area of 1000cm^2, 80% packing density = 800cm^2, 800 divided by cross-sectional area of ring (3.14cm^2) = ~255, 255 * 83 = 21,165.) The chamber appears to be fairly large, maybe 10 meters in diameter based on Sindri's size. We don't know how deep the rings are piled, but let's say that it's 2 meters. That's a total volume of ~62.8 cubic meters occupied by rings, which means that there are about 1329839 rings in the cave. However, Draupnir produces copies in increments of 8, so 1329839 % 8 = 7, which means that there are a total of 1329832 copies and 1 original in the cave. 1329832/324 new rings per year = 4104 years. Not gonna do the leap year calculation.

You're living up to your name (retarded)
Heimdall isn't a hero and kratos and atreus aren't villains from any perspective. Odin is paranoid with control issues and tried to wipe out everyone that was a threat and used the gods under his command to make that so. They didn't attack until they were attacked, same with the jotnar and most other threats to Odin. Your interpretation is moronic because the game clearly shows how villainous nearly every God in this pantheon is, and unlike the original trilogy where that was the case but kratos was clearly overdoing the violence, in this game they are both going out of their way to not harm anyone except for Heimdall, who is so irredeemably racist, violent, and arrogant that kratos can't spare him even after offering him multiple chances.

Thor has killed countless droves of giants that Heimdall has shown no ability to even combat and people do realize that Thor was strong enough to battle Jormungandr and shake the World Tree so badly Jormie got sent back in time. Heimdall can dodge and weave but he doesn't have the arsenal or skillset Kratos had to beat Thor. Also he doesn't ever tell Thor to his face he is not scared of him and considering Heimdall was more than willing to backdown once Thor got serious I would imagine he know his limits and Thor is beyond them.

If Heimdall can read minds, shouldn't he have known that Odin was just messing with the boy and thus not be smiling? Or have stayed put rather than moved?
