I love Colombia with all my heart!! I went there around April 2019 with my family to visit Bogota. I have nothing but incredible experiences with the culture, people, food, EVERYHTING is beautiful!!! I'm from Mexico and I have never felt so close to home than been in Colombia, we are similar in so many ways!!! Viva Colombia!!!
Saludos 🙋🏻♀️🇨🇴
I can't believe I never thought of noise canceling headphones for visiting places where I am seeking peace. Much better idea than my usual method of building up resentments in my head about all the obnoxious tourists. Thanks for the tip!
Hi Dan I love Bogota. I love Colombia. I've been there 3 times and I'm returning in August to revisit my favorite cities-- Bogota, Medellin and Popayan. Whether or not uber is legal or not in Colombia depends on the time of day. It may be legal when you wake up, illegal in the afternoon and legal again at night. I don't think they'll ever make up their minds. I've met Venezuelans living in Colombia. Since they were once the same country they're really the same people. But, unfortunately, there is some prejudice against them. Thankfully not from everyone.
The prejudice against Venezuelans comes from the 1980/90s when Colombians went to Venezuela to escape Pablo Escobar's terror and Venezuelans treated Colombians like crap! KHARMA? Yes, Colombians and Venezuelans are "family" yet you will find those that still have some hostility against the other...simple ignorance because they are both the same.
I was in Bogota back in December after not been back in 7 years the place has changed so much thank you for showing it, Bogota's history and arquitecture is fascinating is such a city of contraxt . I did felt nervous for you walking alone in some streets wish you the best in your journey. I recommend for you to visit Boyacá province and Choco such diferent places but both incredible and unique
welcome to Bogota!!! I’ve been watching your videos of Montreal and they’ve been super helpful for preparing for my upcoming trip. And now your in my city!!!! hope you enjoy your time here and have fun!!
I think traveling with noise cancelling headphones is super dangerous. Much of the world is quite safe, but big headphones make you an obvious oblivious target to pickpocket or whatever.
You raise an interesting point. You might be right that some people could make themselves targets with headphones. It's important to remember safety at all times. That said, I feel like I can get a good read on an area / a situation and tell if it's a high risk for pickpockets. I would never, ever do this in certain parts of Colombia which have more notorious reputations. But at a tourist look out inside of a security check on top of a mountain? Nothing to worry about :)
Great video Dan. I was in Colombia back in 2017 and I loved it. Didn't get a chance to visit Bogota, but I was in Medellin. I need to make my way back!
Hello, thanks for sharing this video with everyone, I really appreciate it. I am also very proud to be Colombian, I miss my country a lot, but when I see something about Colombia and Bogota like this video, I smile and my face is happy every day... Again, thank you very much!!! 🙋🏻♀️🇵🇱❤🇨🇴
Spent a day in Bogotá on my way back from Perú. I will never forget it. What a wonderful people, so welcoming and warm! I want to go back so bad! BTW airport-controlled taxis are totally legit. No need for Uber. Be sure to get your cabby's name and number so you can call him. They appreciate repeat customers, plus you get to know a local a little better. ¡Saludos!
I am travelling to Colombia in about 5 weeks; very excited. I have a question what is the internet like, as I was thinking of buying portable wifi, since we will be travelling around Colombia.
I went in Bogota last march, it's an amazing city, I visited as well the department of Boyacá (really beautiful) me I recommend you the city of Santa Marta (north of the country) beaches there are wonderful and at the same time you can visit la sierra nevada (the biggest mountains near to the beach)
🐢 thanks you for the video. I was in bogota in November. I love that city. Will possibly go back in January. Thank you for mentioning how lucky many of us are and talking about Venezuela. I went to leticia while there then over to cusco. Cusco is also beautiful but I really like bogota. I live in South Carolina now. Used to live 35 miles south of Montreal Canada in NY on border. Pizza was great in bogota. Terrible in Cusco. Lol. I went to the monestrry on the hill. It was peaceful and nice view.
Hey Dan! I was just talking to our mutual friends Jenny and Kevin about you. They are renting my house while I travel in Colombia for the next 2 months. It turns out you're in Bogotá! It'd be nice to meet up if we are in the same place!
5:20 Three (not two) options to reach Monserrate...funicular (rail), cable (air) or hiking (foot) and you took the funicular (rail). Btw, this was an awesome video (I adore Colombia) and I love your mindset, Thanks!!!
Wow, thanks Dan. You are awesome. So far this year I've made a few trips to Cali and Medellin. I want to see Bogota soon. I read several comments and I agree with others that you are not just showing us travel you are teaching life lessons. I've met many Venezuelans this year and I was touched your comments about them and their situation and highlighting how a county like Colombia with it's own challenges has been so welcoming. Thank you for what you are doing!
thank to be honest with your observations; a thing, this Monserrate la final e IS pronounced in Bogota, even some south americans mispronounce it as Montserrat.
what a great video! I am Colombian but i grew up in Venezuela, however, i am currently living in Colombia. Thank you so much for talking about Venezuelan situation and the sad reality of Venezuela, i appreciate it. New subscriber
Super small world. I met those two guys from Denmark in Medellin. We went to parque explora together. Tell them Robbie says hello if you have their contacts.
My wife is from Bogotá and I've been there nine times so far. La Plaza Bolivar ( yes, that is the correct name) is among my favorite places in the city. I do have one comment about the refugees coming in from Venezuela. Back in the eighties and nineties when the drug cartels ran rampant and there was a lot of violence, many Colombians fled to Venezuela, which was considered to be a very prosperous country at the time. Now the tables have turned, and most Colombians view accepting the people from Venezuela as returning the favor, as the Venezuelans once did the same for Colombia.
Hi, i'm from colombia. When you asked to the Mme about food she said: "almojabana y arepa de maiz con queso". So, the first it's a food made of cheese mixed with wheat flour and the second one it's made of corn flour and cheese, but in this case the last is more explicit. Both are delicious. I really hope you had a great time.
Thanks for visiting my City, Bogota has amazing things to do and enjoyable experiences. There more beautiful cities in Colombia, cities and towns you may visit, San gil, Barichara, Medellin, Eje Cafetero, the islands San Andres, and a lot of more places.
I liked so much your video, was very intersting and informative. Thanks for to do this travel to Colombia 🇨🇴 Greetings from Bucaramanga, la "ciudad bonita" (Pretty city)
I'm an American who lives in Cali for 4 years now..nice place brilliant food great selection good weather $1400 a month Beats overpriced bad service garbage food US
great video sharing with us. when you were on Monserratte you should have walked thru where the vendors and food to the back side there you can look into the valley between the mountains beautiful.
Bogotá is a really nice city but I wouldn't recommend being sporadic in latin america. You can do that in Europe or other countries but here there are a lot of sketchy neighborhoods and people and you can get into a really bad situation easily. Better to plan a thing or two. Also because Bogotá is so damm big, there's a lot to see and explore. You only were in the city center but there's also Chapinero, the english houses in La Merced and zona G, the upper class shops in Zona Rosa, the UNAL (biggest public university, you only showed Los Andes), Virgilio Barco Library, Avenida Chile, Parque de la 93, etc...
Made it to the end. Always do 👏🏾👍🏾⭐️
You're a real one, Michelle 🙌

As a Colombian, thanks so much for doing this honest, beautiful video of my city.

Absolutamente cierto.

Intenet is good but could be better, nonetheless, portable wifi would be just perfect, bring it in...

Dude those old Venezuelan notes are cool. I saw a RUclips buying some old notes with Sadam Hussain on the notes too. Those would be even cooler. 😂
Omg I also saw this guy from Venezuela selling the different items made from the bank notes
Beautiful artwork on stone.
Nice job Canuck
Thank you!! ❤️🇨🇴
Thanks!
appreciate it Mike!
Uber is not "allowed" in most public transportation terminals in Mexico where taxis are stationed.
Interesting! I had no idea that was the case.
Just curious, weren't you in Colombia before (Medellin) then left? Or do I have you confused with another RUclipsr? Great video.
Hey Dan, I’m careful when walking on the sidewalks for that same reason 😂
It's brutal haha. Looking around enjoying a new city and then BAM! Hole in the sidewalk
Welcome to Bogotá, Medellín, Santa Marta and Villavicencio

No but my phone has a fitness all that does for me

thanks for talking about the Venezuelan refugee situation!, I'm also a Montrealer 😉
FYI Venezuelans no longer use bolivar bills, they use dollars now
