Go to skyvector.com, on the top right of the map, click on the gray button for the "World VFR" chart, and browse your favorite airport on the map. (There is a search bar on the top left which can recognize airport codes, fixes, and navaids in the whole world. It will center the map over your search result, if recognized). Right click near any airport and you will get a drop down menu. Hover over the airport name and it will show you all the published procedures that airport provides. Some runways may not even have an instrument approach, and major airports will have several different approaches to each single runway. Not all airports have ILS approaches.
Once you find your ILS approach to a runway at an airport of choice, to be able to navigate it in your aircraft you need to set the approach course in your OBS selector on the VOR receiver of your aircraft, and also enter the Localizer (LOC) frequency in your NAV1 Navigational radio. These two things will allow your aircraft to find the electronic signals necessary to follow the lateral path (localizer) and vertical path (Glide slope G/S) of the ILS Approach. You will find those two pieces of information on the top every approach procedure's chart. (see my previous comment for one way to obtain charts)
Jason i stumbled on a IM by accident. The inner marker is located at Tampa INTL.
KTPA runway 01L IM (IAMP). Hope you enjoy the landing.
19L not 01L
Even when you landed looked like your altitude display had jammed at around 600ft
Thanks for the explanation.
Tulsa Intl KTUL has all three
Great job. Very informative. I will search for the elusive inner marker.
In Canada, these marker beacons are no longer used at all.
I wish they were in the sim! I used to love doing approaches in fsx using them
nice vid
Do you have to manually decrease your altitude ?
The marker beacons are advisory only. If you wish to fly the plane using auto pilot, ensure to select an airport with ILS LOC and G/S.
how do i select an airport with ILS, LOC and G/S
