So I think my Brother may start his own channel, MAKE FART NOW.
Will the farts be as cinematic as your channel at times?
😂😂😂😂😂
One of those sounded like MAKE SHART NOW
Reverb the "shit" out of the fart then reverse pump it into the fart to have deep impact sounddesign xD
Mic Fart Now
Those last 10 secs of the vid made me almost cry! Congrats brother! Wish the little baby all the best! 🤗🤗🤗
Oh man, same here. Like, immediately welling up. Congrats from another brother!
You did the best advert for Hollyland anyone could have ever done - one of the most important memories anyone can ever have is the birth of their child. My little guy is 3mo old now and I would have LOVED to have had some sort of recording of that moment. Never once did I think to bring in my DJI mic kit to grab audio - even that audio by itself is a tear jerker.
1) your brother is todays version of Uncle Si from Duck Dynasty and i fucking love it
2) Audio engineer here....noise cancellation doesnt need the entire human ear frequency spectrum to work (20hz - 20khz) It just takes whatever sound is captured, creates two versions of it inside, and flips the polarity 180 degrees of one of the 2 tracks it records and you get what we call "Phase Cancellation". Its when two of the same *EXACT* sound waves play at the same time, but one sound wave with the polaritiy flipped. So one sound wave in the specturum where the wave refracts, the other one compresses, cancelling eachother out and you get....pure silence. Science is cool lol. This is how us EDM guys will extract vocals out of songs we want to remix that doesnt have Studio Acapellas freely available. We find the instrumental to the song, match it up to the original song, flip the instrumentals polarity in our favorite DAW (Digital Audio Workstation....fancy word for - program we make our fire beats in) and the only thing left is the vocals because that part isnt in the instrumental so thats the only part not affected by the phase cancellation. Noise Cancellation works exactly the same way but its programed to learn what the human voice sounds like, keep ONLY the human voice, and "Phase cancel" any other sound. Capturing more low end doesnt make this process and better or worse in quality. Its more so HOW they program the noise cancel algorithm to do it right. I would also like to add while there are some Mics that have good phase cancellation...i would recommend learning how to do this in post because this is what we call a "destructive" recording. Whats done is done and theres no bringing it back. Thats how it was recorded at the source. But if you turn off noise cancellation, do it in post - you can fine tune how much it noise cancels or maybe even come to the conclusion...you dont want any at all. Sometimes I notice with some other mics that do this (even higher end ones) it doesnt always do exactly a good job at it in some enviornments...so i just continued to do it in post production instead so i can have it at a level I want it at. Not what the microphone manufacturer wants it at.
3) To your point of EQing and how the mics sound, all the mics you tested MOST LIKELY (im only speculating) are all using the same exact microphones inside. They most likely all get them from the same vendor and most likely a chinese vendor. Thats not a bad thing...if it sounds good.....well then it sounds good. Headphone companies are kinda the same thing. One headphone thats 300 dollars could have the same EXACT drivers as a 100 dollar headphone. They could sound different because of the EQ curves inside....but all in all...theyre the same. So why does the 300 dollar one cost more? Because Apple bought them out and slapped Dr. Dre's name on them and called them "Beats By Dre". Thats why. Why theyll sound different is sound is a subjective thing. What might sound good to the people at Rode, might not sound good to the people at DJI, so to your point - they just EQ the mic curves differently. For some mics to be cutting out 20hz - 40hz, its propbably the decision by the company to cut those out because youll end up cutting them out anyway in post so why record them in the first place? I bought the fakest DJI clones on amazon for like 30 bucks and the sound quality was.....ehhhhh lmfao. I needed them in a pinch because I dont have a 2 wireless lav mic set up and needed them this weekend so I got these cheapo's just for this one shoot. Testing them, i just applied an EQ curve to it in Davinci resolve until it sounded REALLY good, just saved it as a preset (literally called "Cheap Amazon Mic") and it sounds just like my Rode.
Great comparison. I've been waiting for a video like this thank you.
Also congratulations on the baby girl. 🎉
Congrats Josh and family!
All the best.
Amazing review. Congrats on the growing family!!!
This review was fantastic. You did way more than I would have expected to thoroughly test everything and I can really appreciate that.
Such a precious moment at the end. Congrats!!🎉
Congrats on the new baby! Great review and a fantastic promo that you would trust that most important moment to their equipment.
Nice to see the review on those!
I'm making mine right now as well. Lark Max are amazing!
Congrats on ur newborn! And this is impressive comparison. Love the ideas on how U wanna capture and preserve the voice of ur dad and ur new board!
I love your new set with the screens. It looks great! Also love those graphics on distance. Very cool.
Excellent video all round with just the right information that owners/potential buyers need to know. I couldn't agree with you more re: a 32 bit float option in future iterations. Thanks!
Always ending with a smile! Good on you Josh! Congrats!
I really appreciate all the effort u put into this video. Really thorough!
You have THE BEST production quality of any Tech review RUclipsrs. You got the storytelling perfected.
Mannn I love your channel so much! been watching it since I saw Animorphia. I'm always so impressed with your editing. Would love to see more of you behind the computer 🖥
This comparative review is exactly what I needed, thanks!
Great production and information. Thanks!
Great video it was so interesting through out the beginning to the very end. Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing
Amazed with the review and the graphics, such an inspiration man, thank you!
10:39 = Those graphics are the best I've seen in any vid.
So much style and useful info in one frame.
Amazing to involve your Dad! Awesome memories!
I love this guys humor thank you for the video amazing
super impressive review, love the comedy injected into the video. Awesome graphics.
The video is great, but the last 10 seconds are just the best. Congratulations!
Good stuff. Thanks for the video.
My biggest gripe with these type of mics is the SPL. I tend to work in very loud enviorments and just wondered if you have tried yelling or being around 110dB+
The lark max has 128 dB SPL and the DJI mic has 114 dB so these must work better in loud environments! Great overview man!
Bro you are so rad I love you’re vids you’re vibe and now you flipping dad
I respect the work you put in to all you’re vids man
I genuinely don’t care where you go with this channel I will be here .
Just thought I would let you know bro
Merry Christmas to you and your cool little family
From a guy in Sydney Australia
Master in thorough reviews! Ill try to do as u do Sensei 🙏🏻
I've never cried watching a gear review video before. Wow. Congrats for your family...that's the best sound ever!
CONGRATUALTIONS ON YOUR NEW BABY GIRL JOSH!!!
This was the best review I have ever seen about the Lark Max!!!!!
Break out the cigars Daddy-O, congratulations! Excellent review, these are worlds ahead of my old wireless lavs. Love the transmitter recording capability. Thanks.
Nice coverage. 👍
Literally jus got my Lark Max this morning in the UK. Can't wait to test
Congrats Josh!
Great break down and comparison video! You nailed it near the end their with that final comment - internal 32 bit float. While a 2nd lower level safety track helps, I often find myself needing to bring voice levels up. Sometimes way up. After using 32 bit in the Zoom F3 for the last couple years it's hard to go back to 24 bit. I literally turn it on, see that there's an audio wave and proceed with filming.
Really great in depth review. Well done sir and thank you for sharing this. I'm just a novice creator and about to launch a new YT channel based on everything I have learnt over the last two years. Now I realise that I need some half decent lav mics to improve my sound. I love the creative side and the editing too.
I just sub'd to your channel too.
Kind regards from the UK. 😎
Congrats on your baby girl!!!
Congrats Josh!!
Congratulations!
That ending....... wow! Congratulations, being a parent is the best job in the world!
Fantastic video! And so amazing to be a part of your daughters first seconds! ❤️
Dame ! next level review. thanks
That was interesting to me. I'm working on my own wireless system that is 32bit with high dynamic range mic in smaller package (more like a thumbdrive shape). Big thing for me is connecting up to 4 mics to single receiver with usb connecting to computer (4 channel audio card).
Congratulation!!!
So sweet you made this video with your dad. Wish I did the same but back then I didn't make videos and now it's late.
Awesome review. I would have also liked to see how sensitive they are to loud noises like the Rode.
Hey Josh,
Made it to the end and Congrats!
Great review. I video concerts locally with my phone as keepsakes for the singers, and family and friends living away, do you think these would be a good improvement to the built in microphone?
Congrats on the addition to the family.
Side note i guess its time to compare this to the rode wireless pro
You can copy files directly from the RØDE Wireless Go II mounted on the desktop, this feature has been available for a while. but it is very easy to over modulate the RØDE Wireless Go II in my experience. I always use a white noise generator for mic range tests so there is constant noise.
I really wish Zoom would come with a wireless set including 32BIT float. I have the Zoom F3 and it's amazing!
Hey Josh! Thanks for pointing out the difference between the Stereo and the safety recording.I haven't seen anyone else break that down. And it's a bit confusing, as you can't use the Safety recording if you are using both mics at the same time without the two mixing together. At least if I understand how it works. Hollyland's video doesn't go into any details.
I'm def gonna buy this for my production company
Congrats!!!
Thank you. I'm buying it based on your review. Great job. Only I'm getting it off Amazon UK because its currently £90 off. Congrats on the baby girl. Children are a blessing. Cheers J
The best review and comparison of DJI and Holy LAND from all of which I looked at, thank you.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing it. ✌️
I'm new to your channel and the editing is AWEEEEESSOOOOMMMMEEEEE! What editing software you use? Davinci?
You make me want to buy them! 😊👍
Another Masterclass Review lol. So detailed and effective shown. Amazing work. As always !!! Aloha
DJI could score a huge win if they integrated their transmitters into their DJI OSMO Action 4 and Pocket cameras or released timecode versions with 32-bit audio and had BT timecode generators in their Action, pocket, and other cameras. Would be awesome to just sync up and not really worry about audio.
Receiver built in you mean? It’s a good idea
When I got my DJI lavs and found out they DIDN'T do this, I was like "what...the fuck..."
Josh one question,
if the transmitter and receiver are connected via USB all the time, will the receiver turn off by itself or can it go into sleep mode? I'm wondering if when I turn on the camera, will the receiver also automatically turn on?
very good comparision 🤩 and the last 15 sec of the video 👧🏻,,,, congratulations 🤗
Great job and great video. I honestly hope you read this. Please appreciate your father, because you never know when he might be gone.
I miss my dad so much it hurts. All the things I accomplished, I wish that he was here to see them.
one issue with the old lark 150 was that case battery would be drained entirely in about 1-2days if left unused/charged. Unfortunately the workaround i got suggested by hollyland was to put tape on the metal contacts on the transmitters to prevent the phantom drain from happening. Hope they've solved this issue.
I had (what I thought was) a witty comment all ready to go about including family flatulence in this review and then I heard the final 10 seconds, and... no need for anything other than congratulations. And thanks for sharing that beautiful audio with us! ❤
Excellent Review/Comparison - Holly Baby ... Here I come! 😀
I love this 🖤
ahh man.. Congrats! 🎉🎉
Holy shit I just lost my original hollyland and I was so bumbed... and just learned that this one came out and your video is outstanding. Question, I'm not a pro like you. I just create content on my phone. Can I record just on my phone? v. Having to record sound separate
We need more of your brother lol 😂,, he’s amazing bro,, good video
I've been using the DJI wireless mic system, and love it for the most part. I do wish there were more options for mounting the receiver on a caged camera other than hotshoe. There's a couple 3D printed options or jerry rigging, but nothing attractive. That may be more on the side of companies like Smallrig to come up with solutions to something like this. But that hotshoe attachment on DJI doesn't instill much confidence as far as durability.
Your brother is the reason I just subscribed
Great video! How is the Larx latency? Online it says less than 25 Ms. How noticeable is it?
I wouldn't be surprised to discover that the Hollyland, Fulaim and Mailada mics all come from the same factory. So many similarities in design and functionality. I have a Fulaim X5 and very happy with it especially as a cheaper version of the Hollyland.
Glad I waited for the last 30 seconds!
Deity is coming out with a similar mic system and it will have 32 bit float just like their newly released UHF system. I saw it a NAB but not at Cine Gear LA. So hopefully they haven't given up on it. I'm using the Zoom F2-BT and I love the fact that I don't have to set the levels anymore. It's been a real boost to my work flow. For work related projects, I'll have to give these a try. Great comparison Video! Also, Congrats on the new arrival!
Not a fan of Deity product reliability
Yeah I briefly covered them with my NAB video. They look legit, a bit bigger than these guys, also priced at $1000. One thing I read today is they wont allow simultaneous internal recording while transmitting for US customers due to patent infringement issues. Not sure how thats enforced, but Id get my hands on a European version in that case.
Omg thankx for this review. Much needed. And your brother geez lol..
just got them,, im about to use the lark max on a wedding!
What are your thoughts on the new Ankerworks mic? Love to see a review on those compared to these 3!
I have the Rode Wireless Go ii, but lost one of the transmitters after only clipping it onto my son’s football team QB, he got hit during practice and it popped off (big mistake on my part).
The Rode was how I found out the 3.5mm jack on my a7iii was broken though. $300 later to repair the a7iii and I also got an fx30 but made the mistake of not getting it with the audio handle.
Then I got the Dji mic, and the modularity of it is great, but frustrating that there isn’t a Sony multi shoe interface for the receiver.
I hope that they SOLVED the internal clock problems.
With RODE i have a lot problems with them not being constantly synced. Its extremely frustrating :D
Great video! Just in time, because I was looking to purchase a Comica Vimo C vs Hollyland Lark M1....but this is my first time seeing the Lark Max. Thanks for introducing me! I see in your link that the Max is priced at $199, but on Amazon and in your video it shows $299....Is that $199 legit on the referral link you posted?
It's $199 for the solo kit and $299 for the dual.
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL im here in Canada , new to this but i need good audio for recording outdoors on the go doing charity / out reach work , is the rode pro worth getting you think for me? or would the holly land for a cheaper price be better? i will be recording with a huwawei p20PRO smartphone outside in high traffic areas , need clear crispy audio from a good device that works well , is nice to use and will last.
Nice ! I think I'm going with the Tascam F2 tho
BEST. REVIEW. EVER.
Congratulations
Thanks for the great vid!
I was hoping for one big thing comparing these three. What's the difference in sound quality when recording with a lav mic through 1/8 input? I've heard Rumors the Rode is best here.
Also, question. How easy is it to accidentally press the side-record button on the Hollyland? And also, how easy is it to accidentally switch on the noise-cancellation in the menu system?
Hope to hear back and thanks so much again! :D
They all sound great when transmitted. Rose just punches thur a bit brighter with less muddy frequencies when vlogging outdoors.
Your other two questions are more of an issue I think. Both of those buttons can be pressed very easily when handling the mics. And after I did the episode I had a professional shoot and one of the talent hit the record button accidentally and I had to redo it on my end. The good news is it was very easily for me to see on my end and monitor and correct in the moment.
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL Thanks a million for answering! 😀
Hey man. Love your stuff. I just brought a set of the Lark Max off the back of your video. Tested them tonight and I’ve got latency issues. When monitoring the latency is enough to produce a slight echo. Did you notice that? I get no such issue with my old RODELink mics.
Echo when using multiple mics? Or on camera mic in addition to the lav?
I didn't notice any echo, but yes it's true most of the lavs do have a touch of latency due to transcoding from analog to digital etc. I didn't notice anything too crazy for normal use.
If you return them check out the Rodes new version. That's the one I want to review next.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
No not using multiple mics… haven’t even got that far yet!
I’m just using one mic clipped to me. The RX on the camera body (fx3) running into the mic input using their supplied 3.5 to 3.5. Then head phones out the camera.
When I monitor my own voice, there’s an echo. It’s not quite enough of an delay to do that thing where you can’t speak properly because the delay makes your brain slow your speech down, but it’s not far off it, it’s definitely off putting.
Also, it makes the room acoustics sound really nasty because the echo caused by the delay. So if you were doing an sit down interview or something you’d always think the room you were in sucked. Sure you could do test recording then check it via play back, but that’s a pain.
To check it wasn’t the cables or anything I hooked my RODELinks up using the same everything and they were perfect 👌🏻
It’s a shame because apart from that I love them. Just trying to figure if it’s how they are or if mine are faulty.
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNELdo yours behave like this? ruclips.net/video/95-lHz7NEKM/видео.html
Can you adjust the internal recording level? Because I had the dji mic but the internal recording level is way too low and can not adjust it.
Wow! You made the best review of this. I also find Hollyland Lark Max better than Rode Wireless Go.
It’s incredible how thoroughly this is made 😅
Would like to see an even smaller size one, something like the half the current size without compromising on battery life.
Could any of these mics be used to capture live music? I motorcycle camp and space is very limited, i am crazy enough for even bringing a guitar! I need something small, and wireless, clipped on that isn't obtrusive in the video, that i can connect to my x8 recorder to record vocals, and maybe one other instrument.
32bit float and timecode hey? almost like you could see the future. I was going to buy the DJI mic but so much has changed in the last few months...
Brother part is my favorite 😂
How to manually adjust the gain for each separate mic during recording?
We NEED to see a review of this but with the Rode Wireless PRO added in!
