    Not sure to understand your point. Taking guar gum makes it easy and consistent and measurable. And it’s supported by studies, which gives us a certain level of confidence it will actually work. Versus having to incorporate fodmap in our alimentation every day, and not being so sure about how to do it (how much etc.)

    Well this video is a relief. I thought she might actually have a solid reason to not use Gaur Gum but it is clear she doesn’t. She preaching some type of foo-foo philosophy about how it is important to eat “whole food”. She seems to not get that the only way we can even tolerate plants is by altering their structure - cook, ferment, dehusk, extract, etc. it’s notably that she does not quote a single study - she is just expressing how she “feels” about things. Guar gum is good stuff - proven in multiple studies. Full stop.

    I understand your point about whole foods versus extracts but why hate on guar gum if it is serving a purpose? You can take that AND whole foods, right? Such a long video for not such a great point.

      Yes, you can certainly do both, but in my experience, people tend to hyper-focus on the "proven" things (PHGG, for example) and ignore the bigger things they could be doing (eating whole foods).

    I saw your more recent video where you recommended phgg, and I immediately bought some. Haven't started any treatment yet for sibo bc I'm pregnant but phgg and probiotics have served me well with motility and abdominal pain from eating.

    Pollan's perspective is privileged and elitist . Not everybody has access to a 3,000 mile long food supply chain. Prior to the discovery of nutrition and fortification of foods, people had goiters, rickets, pelagra, beri-beri, and other horrors.

    How ridiculous - basically no argument to support going against clinical studies - just arguing eating whole foods is better - well sure! but the average person does not have ready access to the benefits of food that guar gum has- point after watching this video- take guar gum!

    The reason it worked is probably because the average person does not get enough fiber in their diet. They could supplement with oats, but they don’t want to in the first place, so they would rather take a capsule of guar gum.

    That's what i do now. I fast and starve the bacteria, then I take a ton of neem pills and oil of oregano with my meals. The bacteria is hungry so they come out to eat and also munch on the antimicrobials

    I had some cream cheese with guar gum in it and it destroyed me 😭 the Worst diarrhea
    Never again. In general I don’t do well with gums, PHGG included and I have hydrogen dominant sibo. Dr siebecker also mentioned PHGG might not be the best option for hydrogen sulfide sibo. Any thoughts on that?

    What are your thoughts on taking psyllium husk fiber, along with activated charcoal and diatomaceous earth as sibo binders? I have methane dominant sibo and poss candida, trying to stay regular and not feed the sibo.

      What are you taking for regularly? Are you taking guar gum?

    I purchased a guar gum supplement to act specifically as a 'binder' so I could function throughout the day & not potentially damage my liver more with loperamide hcl, that was before I found out about sibo & was informed that I could have it because I've been living with ibs-d for years. Is there a food that will help do this?

    • @gutmicrobiomequeen
      @gutmicrobiomequeen  5 лет назад +4

      Two foods that are naturally good at binding toxins are beets and okra! I think PHGG is fine, too. I just wouldn't do that alone. Or worse still, I wouldn't take PHGG while on a restricted diet (like low FODMAP) and think that that's good enough.
