What day should I go to church?
Didn't Jesus celebrate the Sabbath on Saturday?

Im Serbian orthodox. Most people celebrate Sunday for their rest day. But once i found out that it was a command for us to worship/rest on Saturday. I personally converted back to Saturday rest. Glory to God in the highest and peace to his people on Earth.
Just make sure to rest and worship!

Pastor, I agree with you 100% and have been saying the same thing for years. The church today is largely ignorant of what the Bible actually says. Rather they rely on what their denominations tell them. Please people, read the Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to help and guide you. That is why He was sent.
Hi Brandon, besides all you've said, which I really liked, there are a lot of texts in the bible for the ever-lastingness duration of the Sabbath as a day of worship, just one of them is Isaiah 63:23: "And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord."
In my (really poor) opinion, I think we should keep the Sabbath as our worship day as the commandments said, cause this day was created, blessed and sanctified for us, as the Sabbath was made for the man. A day to rejoice, with a marvelous promise:
If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

How difficult is it to find a church today which teach the sabbath rest.
Isaiah 58 is giving good examples about this as well.
People which are going to church on sunday are becomming angry when you reflect this.
I believe you are against the first 3 commandments when you are not following the 4th, because you are putting man's commandments above Gods commandments.
I’m glad this topic came up. You are very knowledgeable in so many topics. I do have a comment regarding the Sabbath. I’ve gone too many different denominations in my lifetime but I never really heard about the Sabbath until I got to my present church. I still believe the Sabbath is Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. The Bible says in Matthew 5:18, “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” Changing the Sabbath to Sunday is man’s change, not God’s.
Only the Cohen Gadol could make changes to the law. That is Yeshua our Messiah and the king of the Sabbat...not king of Sunday! After Paul Apostle, there were ravenous wolves that came as Paul said would after he would die. I got the same scripture this week as I was meditating on how it was so difficult-narrow road obliges, LOL!-to convince myself or others of Saturday that was sanctified and blessed! If you were God, would you unsanctify and unbless a day? If we are to walk as he walked, I gotta vote for Saturday cause Jesus was there when it was created and blessed! Very little people will be able to get in heaven: 8 people Noah and Lot with daughters so not many in end-times! Saturday is supposed to be a sign between us and the father and loving each other is the sign of Jesus disciples. I took that the 1st was null for the 2nd. but I think now it is not. Thoughts? BTW, Shabbat Shalom!
The Sabbath Day applied only to Israel, under the Mosaic Law. It is not applicable to any other nation or time zone.

The sabbath was made for man....not Jews, from the seventh day of creation hitherto.
As a Christian, I am now learning to practice the Jewish Feasts also. Not required but I so love to dig deeper into my personal faith journey. MARANATHA ❤️

Good on you. I don't like the word required, because it smacks of a legalistic approach to our relationship with God--what good thing MUST I do to obtain eternal life. The sabbath and festivals have much spiritual value for a christian and therefore are a blessing if understood correctly.

So why would God say by Zechariah's mouth about the end times: _"And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain. And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles."_
God's Feasts. Jews didn't invent them.
Awesome, you will be blessed! To be precise, they’re not the “Jewish Feasts,” they are YHVH’s Appointed Times (Moedim). Jews mostly follow rabbinic Judaism, not exclusively Torah. This is important bc they are for all faithful obedient followers of Yeshua and Torah (aka ekklesia/qahal).
I have been taught there are heavenly appointed times and sabbath, Friday into Saturday is one of those heavenly appointed times. It’s like having dinner with Jesus and his disciples in the unseen realm. We have dinner together, pray together, and take communion in remembrance. The first time we practiced sabbath in this way we prayed over our oldest son the Friday before he started school. He always struggled in school leading up to this point and we prayed for him daily but that year he was on the AB honor roll all year and tested out of all IEP services. It really was a miracle and I believe it was because we were praying in agreement with heaven on sabbath.

According to Acts 20:7, it was Saturday evening, not Sunday morning. Paul spoke up to wee hours of Sunday morning. This verse doesn't say shabbat was changed to Sunday. And breaking bread in first century Israel simply means sharing a meal. Today's church has misunderstood both customs of early Christianity's Jewish roots.

Yes, because Shabbat begins at sundown Friday, and goes to sundown Saturday. The first day of the week began at sundown Saturday, so the Christians met after sundown, sharing a meal, and teaching one another, praying and singing hymns. Sunday, they were back at work. So why are we so confused about keeping Shabbat? On the seventh day. Not the first. Like God said. 10 commandments, not 9. I see the Light. God bless. ❤🙂✝️
It also says in Acts 2:46 that they met house to house daily, sharing meals, and praising God. I am not sure why anyone is reading into Acts 20:7 that they were already setting Sunday apart. There is no reason to jump to that conclusion.

Just wanted to know, if Jesus didn't come to do away with the Law but to establish it, then why out of all the commandments are we told to "Remember" the Sabbath day?
It's as if God knew we were going to forget. And isn't that's what has happened, we have forgotten?

the word in hebrew that they translate "remember" is Zaw-kar. it is from a primitive root that means "to mark" also to recognize, to remember, to record. So it's not really like I'm telling you to remember the Sabbath because I know you are going to forget (saith The Lord :-). Why is it regarding "remember" that the word is used in Esther 9:28 concerning the keeping of Purim throughout all generations and Jews and the grafted in but 'the grafted in' don't bother to read Esther or keep the holiday? I'm Jewish so I know about Purim and was surprised that my new Christian family not only didn't know, didn't really want to now. I invite Christians to come to synagogue with me so they will get to see the Torah and hear music and songs like Yeshua. Fortunately there is a messianic synagogue where I live and also a great conservative Presbyterian Church that I also go to. Blessings to you Caylem.

Yes, we say amen to all the commandments, except for the one who tells us to remember.
We can and should worship everyday...but the 7th day is to be kept holy...that is by God's command. The idea of Sunday replacing shabbat is our own tradition, its not scriptural.
The night of the first day of the week was and is Saturday night. Sabbath remains God's appointed day of rest. And nothing and no can nor should change this.
When we take look the 7th day, there seems to be a miss labelling and connection with the Resurrection of Jesus Christ!
We should look at parallels of Torah the rest of scripture!
Example Jesus rose on Sunday and what parallel does it have in previous resurrection scripture?
Scripture says that Sunday’s parallel is in that week the Feast of first fruits
So the Lord’s Day is a yearly observance and Shabbat is a weekly observance and commandments of God should never be referred to as requirements of humanity but gestures of love ! 1st Corinthians 13:2. If I have all things but not love l am nothing!

Acts 20:7..on the first day of the week the disciples came together to break bread... that's why we meet on Sunday. We pattern after the NT church.
@@seaweed349 Acts 2:46 states that the believers met EVERY DAY (capital emphasis mine) in the temple and broke bread in their homes together. By your reasoning we should be doing likewise EVERYDAY. Please read things in context, Paul was there talking with people, breaking bread with them because he was going to leave the next day, which, is why he talked late into the evening. Paul always went to temple on the 7th day. Regarding resurrection, note in that time and culture 1st day actually started on sundown on what we call Saturday night....again note, when the women arrived it was still dark and Yeshua was already gone. HE had already rose....on the 1st day of the week, which began at sundown. Do you really think HE stayed in the grave one nano second longer then HE had to? Which means according to our way of dating/timing Yeshua actually rose on Saturday evening as that was when 1st day started back then (and still does according to Jewish ways... Shabbat..7th day of the week... starts sundown on Fri and ends sundown on Sat)

My husband and I started observing Friday at sundown to Saturday at sundown out of respect for the true Sabbath.Also, Sunday is a day for the pagan sun goddess, hence the name.However, for many Christians this isn't a known fact.

Carsten: all that shows is that He had already risen by the time they arrived at the tomb. Does not indicate that He arose on Sunday.
The crucifixion did not take place on a Friday. Mark 16: the ladies bought (purchased) the spices AFTER the Sabbath. Luke 23: the same ladies prepared the spices then rested on the Sabbath (spices were prepared before the Sabbath). How could they prepare the spices before they purchased the spices? Impossible with a Friday crucifixion. The only solution is that there were two Sabbaths, the High Sabbath of the first day of Unleavened Bread and the weekly Sabbath. After the High Sabbath which was on a Thursday, they bought and prepared the spices on Friday, so they could rest on the weekly Sabbath. Therefore the crucifixion took place on Wednesday, burial at the stroke of sunset Wednesday, in the grave all of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (meets the requirement of three days and three nights). As He rose on the third day, the resurrection took place just before sunset on Saturday, the weekly Sabbath. Note that according to our Creator's calendar, the days begin and end at sunset.
By looking at scripture in detail, we can also show that Palm Sunday is a false holiday and that the triumphant entrance took place on a Saturday, the weekly Sabbath that year. Palm Sunday was an invention of the Roman church to falsely justify a Sunday resurrection.
To answer your next question, I am not a SDA. I just read scripture and believe in the Written Word while rejecting most traditions.

Also, look at the Greek in Matt 28:1 "After the Sabbaths (sabbatou which is plural), toward the first of the sabbaths (sabbatou, plural)..."
"After the Sabbaths" refers to the two Sabbaths that had just passed - the High Sabbath of unleavened bread, and the 7th day Sabbath.
The "first of the sabbaths" refers to the count of 7 Sabbaths, also called the counting of the omer, up to the day of Pentecost.
The "first day of the week, aka Sunday" was not at all in the minds of the disciples. Their life revolved around the Feasts of Yahwah.
This structure of "sabbaths" (plural) is also found in the other gospels - Mark 16:2, Luke 24:1, and John 20:1
Note: Mark 16:9 does not have this structure, and so is not consistent with all 4 gospels. These last verses of Mark 16:9-20, were added later and this is another proof that these last verses were not part of the original gospel since it is obvious, by looking at the form of Sabbath used (singular) that the writer of this portion of Mark did not consider the plural Sabbaths that all the gospel writer so consistently included.
Acts 20:7 has the same structure. So the "first day of the week" was actually the first of the Sabbaths (plural) counting toward the Feast of Pentecost, which means the day that Paul was preaching was the Feast of First Fruits (not the "first day of the week, Sunday"). This is supported a few verses later in Acts 20:16 where it states that Paul is in a hurry to get to Jerusalem for the day of Pentecost. He had a journey to take to get there in time for Pentecost, and so was going to skip stopping at some places in order to be in Jerusalem for the Feast.
So again, it is evident that "Sunday, the first day of the week" was not the focus. Rather the Feasts were.

One of the commandments is to remember the Sabbath and keep it holy… HOW do we keep it holy?
I understand this as keeping the Sabath holy by setting it aside and dedicating it to God. The Sabath is the shadow of what's to come for believers, just as the Old Testament was a shadow of a better covenant to come by (The) way of Jesus. The Sabath is us resting, relying, acknowledging, and thanking God for all He is, does, and provides. Its us putting our faith in God and not on ourselves.
I believe we keep it holy by observing it as a God given day of rest and in resting refresh ourselves with Scripture reading and meditation. Not watching movies, playing video games or hours with technology or talking frivolous things that have no bearing on holiness ...
I keep the Sabbath holy by not working , visiting people that may be lonely, I may help at a Food pantry, I go for walks in the forest, or lakefront (I live in Chicago). I like to take extra time on meditating on the Bible, or listening to sermons at church or on radio, I like to prepare special or treats for Sabbath. I like to invite friends to dinner on Friday to welcome the Sabbath, or I invite people over for Sabbath lunch.

Hey Brandon, great discussion on this challenging topic. Obviously there are more than Jews observing a Saturday Sabbath. As a Seventh Day-Adventist, i relish having Sabbath to rest , have family time and worship; time out from the day to day madness. A good friend believes that the Catholic Church had the authority to change the day, for me the fact that Jesus observed the Sabbath is elementary.

Paul was speaking on Saturday too early Sunday morning breaking bread on Sunday does not mean worshiping, historical documents proved that Constantine's changed the day of worship from the Sabbath to the venerable day of the sun god Sol

Brandon, I know the Bible fairly well having read it over 40 times in a variety of translations. I've taught the Bible most of my life - well over 45 years. I find your approach extremely helpful, concise but thorough, accurate, and I find I always get something from you even on subjects I thought I had studied quite thoroughly. I had always heard a simple explanation of the difference between Shabbot (Jewish day of rest) and Sunday (the Lords Day), but you expanded that and explained it very much better. Thank you.
I appreciate the history lesson on how the weekly Sabbath kept by Jesus and his followers was changed to Sunday. I choose to observe the Sabbath, not a day that some Roman emperor decided based on his pagan background (sun worship). And the reasoning of simply taking any day during the week to rest doesn’t fit with the Bible that Christians base their faith on. After all, it is one of the Ten Commandments and Jesus said he did not come to do away with the law but fulfill it. Maybe we should ask how Jesus fulfilled this command and that would put things in perspective.
Yes, and the seventh day rest began at creation not the 10 commandments. Interesting that the fourth commandment is the only commandment that starts with "remember." God knew that His day would be an inconvenience for many people, but He gave us the ability to choose His way or our way. We need to choose wisely as the Bible says.
@@pattiadams7015 God rested from all Hr created, there is no mention of Adam and Eve sharing in the Sabbath. It was not even called the sabbath. It was given to the jews from God, via Moses. No mention of any Sabbaths before Moses. Jesus worshipped on the Sabbath because he was a jew, no Christian was ever commanded even by Jesus to keep the Sabbath. Please do not tell it was just assumed, it is not in the new testament any where. Jesus being God said the most important commandment was to love God, love your neighbor as yourself and that fulfills all the commandments
@@michelevillafana3008 God consecrated the Sabbath Day and made it Holy. Jesus said the Sabbath Day was made for man. All the Apostles and gentile converts went to the synagogue every Sabbath where they read the scriptures. And the scriptures was the Torah. The “Word” the “Law.” There was no New Testament then. Paul was put in Prison and Phillip was stoned because of “false witnesses” saying he was preaching against the “Law.” But Paul argued he upheld the WHOLE Law and Peter also defended Paul on the matter as well. The problem with the Sabbath like all the other Holy days was that man corrupted them by making their own laws and even put them over Gods laws in the Talmud. As far as the laws you mentioned, Jesus simply said all the laws hung on the two laws because the two laws were the foundation of the rest of the 10 Commandments and the Torah was the break down, or amendments, subsections of those laws. Jesus said he didn’t come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. Which is funny that this is the one and only example that exists where people say the word “fulfill” means abolish. So Jesus said “I didn’t come to abolish the Law but to abolish the Law?” That doesn’t make any sense. Read about Constantine and the Catholic Church and how they admit that they changed the Sabbath. He was a little off on the history here. Not totally but he was off.

Love all your videos. I believe the Sabbath should be as originally meant. We have all been accustomed to Sunday, but Saturday is officially the holy day of rest.
Great topic and I love your balanced approach to the scriptures. I did look up the Acts 20:7 in the Strongs concordance and it appears to say one Sabbath instead of first day of the week. The book of Daniel says that the anti-messiah would change God's times and seasons (moed in Hebrew meaning appointed times) . What I began to discover is that instead of persecution from without, the devil decided to infiltrate the church and separate us from God's ways and to make them seem strange to us. I've had many of the similar revelations that you have and am untangling man-made doctrines from the faith once delivered to the saints. God bless you for the light that you're shining.

Thanks for a very kind gentle approach to this aspect of Sabbath. Yes, it has become a 'Christian' practice to worship particularly on Sunday, however we don't generally hear teachings on REST. On the other hand, Sundays seem to be practiced as rest from earning one's livelihood but busy doing ' good works' visiting the sick, suffering or lonely.
Thank you Brandon, as usual you bring insight to much of the scriptures. I too believe Friday sundown to Saturday sundown is Sabbath, however many people ask so what, we can worship God any day. This is correct and should, but we should remember first that God hallowed and sanctified the seventh day, thereby making it separate and special in His commandment.
I liken His choice of Sabbath as special the same as if considering a special day in my relationship with my wife. Take for instance her birthday, if I should choose to celebrate it on say her sister's birthday, shouldn't she be as happy as if it were her actual birthday? I think not.
This is why the actual Sabbath is so important, as any of the 10 commandments. I know God is going to honor those who honor His commands. Rev. 12:14

Brandon, I love your channel, and the history of Jesus's time. I too have struggled with the idea that in Catholicism if you don't go to mass on Sunday, it is a mortal sin. However, my sabbath is Thursdays, and God still loves me bc he continues to bless me on that day.
In Catholic Church we can go (if we are able) on Saturday vigil or Sunday both fulfil the lords day obligation which should not be thought of as an ‘obligation’ as in being forced but a pleasure it’s a good thing as usual but like many things Catholic it is widely misunderstood. If one can’t make either of the weekend masses say we are working but well then all masses are masse regardless of the day. However Sunday’s the clergy tend to pull out all the stops we for instance might have more prayers longer homilies greater availability of confession at mass more hymns sung etc

Friend, do the research on Easter. it is the English name for Ishtar, the goddess of fertility, also know as Ashteroth or Asherah in the Bible. Jesus arose on First Fruits.

Thank you for the time you took to go back into history of Church. So important. If I may just add - the Eastern Church did not accept the abandonment of 7th day as day of rest and was a big reason for the split and separation of Eastern Orthodox from Western Roman Catholicism. Eastern Church kept 7th day Shabbat and aldo came together on 1st day of the week.
Also you omit to point to fact that Constantine said " in honor if the venerable 🌞 sun..." Because Sunday was a pagan sun worship day... And this edict had nothing to do with Christianity, like so many Roman Catholic blending of paganism with Christianity, which even after the Reformation, was kept such as Christmas. Another very, very important point is that the 7day week was God's idea, not man's as is the Sabbath!! It is also the 4th Commandment. We are still told that we should keep the Ten Commandments right? But we have abandoned (and ignored) the 4th commandment. Israel kept many Sabbath days as part of their Festivals, which was not necessarily on the 7th day of the week. Christians are not told to keep that but nowhere did the Apostles (or Jesus) say the Sabbath can change to the 1st day of the week! Furthermore I do not read anywhere in Scripture that we are to "worship on the Sabbath". Enlighten me if I am wrong please. It is a day of rest and meditation and yes, reading Scripture and explaining (which is what Paul did) the Scripture (especially to our children). Isaiah 58 may be very enlightening as to what Sabbath observance should be.
I thank the Lord that he revealed the truth (not church dogma) to me in 2018 and what a blessing it has been to me to keep Shabbat. The all wise Father God knew we needed a day in which to "catch our breath" as He did after creating in 6 days! Hallelujah Shabbat shalom!
And why do you say followers of Yeshua (The Way) should not celebrate and keep the feasts? You say they are only for Israel? I believe Paul said that if you believe upon and follow Yeshua, you are grafted into the commonwealth of Israel. No longer a gentile. Don't know about you, but I'm an Israelite!
@@bobbidell3591 I meant that people should not confuse the 7th day Sabbath with the other sabbaths Israel kept because the Church never observed the Jewish Feasts and the sabbaths of those feasts and please keep in mind that at the meeting in Jerusalem of elders and Apostles (first Church Council? ) The Jewish Christian leaders decided not to lay all the observances of the Jews in the Gentiles (Acts 15), such as circumcision etc., which was for God's chosen nation namely Israel. The Bride of Christ consists of all nations, tongues and tribes, including Jews but Israel as a nation has its own history and path that God had and still have for it.
I am not convinced that I as a Gentile believer I need to observe all the Jewish feasts except Passover, which was fulfilled in Yeshua. I note that more and more gentile believers are doing it and I respect that and I am interested in knowing about it especially like this month of September etc. but I do not follow the ritual of it, just as I do not strictly follow the Jewish ritual of Shabbat with a Friday special meal and lighting the menorah etc. But I observe the Shabbat as Yahweh gave it, a holy day of resting from all work, scripture reading and meditation and prayer, not doing a hobby, switching of technology, RESTING! That is the essence if Shabbat.
@@ARenewedmind your interpretation is the usual. The "basic" guidelines that were required of new believers was a starting point. I totally agree about not needing to follow the Jewish customs...Yeshua was trying to stand against the Pharisees and all their additional "laws". There are still debates in Judaism about conversions, Noahide laws, etc regarding gentiles. But just as there was a mixed multitude that came out of Egypt, stood at Sunai, and were included in that covenant, the Torah teaches one Law for the native born as well as the Ger and sojourners. I am going to recommend a ministry called "Triumph In Truth" for further research. There are others, but I think this one does an exceptional job bringing clarity. They have a channel on RUclips.

I started honoring the sabbath on Saturday 15 years ago. I also began honoring the seven Feasts of God. I'm now messianic. I follow the Torah, guard God's commands and witness of Messiah. I have more peace and blessings than ever before in my life.
God said, The Sabbath is a sign between you and me.
Also, Sabbath was a day to read the word of God, not only rest. In Messiah's time, and before, the people went to synagogue to hear the word of God. Everyone did not have a bible. They learned God's word on Sabbath.

All I can say, it's ALL about HIM. God said it and it's settled. He established it at the beginning and we should follow. We don't have to be Jewish to worship on Saturday, all we have to do is obey God and His Holy Word. At first, I admit it was hard because all of the churches are open on Sunday for service. However, there is eChurch on Saturdays which we can do it from home and of course to fellowship we go through worship on Sundays until all pastors come to an agreement that Saturday is the Holy Day and not Sunday.
You can worship with other Sabbath Keeping Christians on Sabbath by finding your nearest Seventh Day Adventist Church.

The 10 commandments were never canceled and scripture clearly states shabbat is the 7th day of the week. We tend to dismiss things we dont want to follow by claiming those items are legalistic...but we can become legalistic about legalism. Yeshua stated those that teach to follow the laws will be greater in the kingdom of God those that do not will be lesser in the kingdom. The statement wasnt about salvation, as both were stated as being in the kingdom. BTW... When Yeshua comes to rule will we be able to do whatever whenever we want? Or will He have laws to govern by and if so what laws do you think He will use? If we really look it wasnt the laws that He had an issue with, it was with the Pharisees, that placed the additional "fences" that they in their tradition had been added that created oppressive burdens for people.

@Mavors If you read Acts you will see that Paul actually circumcised Timothy, and Paul is cited as keeping up rituals that had to do with vows etc. The thing is laws that had to with sacrifice was completed with the finished work of the cross. However, many others were given for health of mankind. Ie if you will keep the laws you will not have the plagues or sicknesses of the Egyptians. Science shows the sicknesses were heart disease, diabetes, cancer etc. Who better to know what will keep us healthy then the Creator Himself. Oh you might want look up Matthew 5:18....ummmm heaven and earth hasnt passed away.

The forth commandment still says that God hallowed it made Holy the seventh day . We should follow the laws of God and not man. Sabbath was instituted at creation. To make their traditions more comfortable, the Catholic Church removed the forth commandment and split the tenth. My Catholic friends assure me that the Sabbath is still in force …. This is a topic I have thought about often. As a person who had grown up in the church, high episcopalian, to be precise, the church day, the Sabbath, the day of rest, was Sunday.
Then, on growing older, learning, with all of my bookishness, I learned of Saturday, and some of the Jewish practices.
The next step was actually becoming a believer and coming to a personal relationship, with Jesus. This was a longer journey, and research and discovery topic. Then in coming to a position within the church, Sunday is always a 'work' day for me and I have come into the discussion if the intent, and heart of the matter, and designating a day/time to rest. But, more importantly, to rest in the Lord.
Now, with the Chosen coming around, specifically, S1, E2 Shabbat, I am again wondering, researching, and thinking about Shabbat.
I am still in the camp of not being legalistic about a certain day for rest, but, I am still a stickler for setting aside a time of rest. Now, I am struck with the beauty of some of the practices and traditions, celebrated by Jews, on Shabbat. I wonder about the contribution to fellowship, and community, and unity, in adopting some of these practices.
Then of course, there is the entire discussion of which festivals, feasts, practices, we should still celebrate, as followers of Jesus... A discussion for another day! Lol!

About the practices and traditions . If you do them in a way that you were not admonished like im Mark 7:13, there'd be no problem. In the case of festivals and others, you'd have to study those that foreshadowed the messiah, because they are not longer necessary as Jesus already came to perform what they exemplified, such as the Passover.

Yes, we need to worship daily, but we are to keep the Sabbath holy by putting God first. He commands that we work six days.
I agree that we should not judge anyone for the day they worship on, God will do that. I do believe though that the Ten Commandments was written with God’s finger on tablets of stone to last, not on paper or wood that would deteriorate in time. I believe we should trust God’s word. Revelation 22:14 tells us who will enter into the City. “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.”
Some say the Sabbath is for the Jews, but it originated in the first week of creation before there was any Jews. See Genesis 2:2-3 There was there things God did on the seventh day. 1. He rested (set a example for man). 2. God blessed the seventh day (made it holy, set it apart) 3. God sanctified the seventh day (to set apart to a sacred purpose or religious use)
A lot of churches have thrown out the Ten Commandments and the first week of creation, I believe in both. Some think 9 of the commandments are good but that the fourth one was done away with, (really??) Some also believe in the first six days of creation but not what God did on the seventh day.
God will sort it out.
Having said what I know and believe about the Sabbath,I relate to Nicodemus in the Chosen at the well when Jesus and the disciples was getting ready to leave , I know what is right but I don’t do what I know is right and sometimes it literally tears me up because I don’t follow Jesus the way I should.

I love the history behind all of your videos. I think we should know why we do what we do. Recently I have been attempting to observe the Sabbath rest and it has been quite a challenge. But I think the important thing right now is that I am intentional and for my own reasons it’s what I know the Lord has called me to do. On Sunday I worship in my local fellowship. I would not call Sunday a day of rest as our church meets in a rented space. It has to be completely set up and taken down every Sunday. I also work in the nursery. Due to my age Sundays are exhausting, so I do treat myself to a Sunday afternoon nap every once in a while!
I really appreciate your thoughts and the way you are looking into the notion of the Sabbath in a biblical way and totally agree with you. Yes it's very important for us as Christian to have a day of rest and to be open to choose a day of the week and to recharge for the rest of the week. All days are God's days, since we commit all the days of our lives to Him, but the day we take to rest in Him is for our own benefit, to quite everything else and have a quality time with The One that we love the most, and talk to Him about our week and listen to what He is saying to us. I always looking forward to the Sabbath because it's for me, but I am not for the Sabbath as my Master and Saviour says, I am a follower of Him , The King of kings.

I've studied the religious history. In the articles on Sunday observation was made the law by the Catholic church in 325 ad. This was done to apease a sect that worshiped the Sun. Thus it was ruled that we'd worshop on Sunday.

Paul went into the synagogues on the Sabbath because that's when all the people were gathered in one place. In Galatians he teaches that we should not hold one day more significant than another.
All Christians were taught the Sabbath of Genesis as well as the Ten Commandments. Because that is how people learned in Bible times, by passing on the scripture from one generation, one person, to another. Jesus worshipped on the Sabbath because it was created day of rest, made for man as a memorial of Creation in which He created Himself. He also said He had not come to change the Law (10 Commandments). No where in the scriptures were we ever instructed to change the Sabbath. Man changed the day to suit himself. The 4th Commandment says “Remember….the 7th day is the Sabbath” Exodus 20. It is part of God’s moral Law that has not changed since it was given thousands of years ago.

I accepted Yashua in 1996, but in 2018 I had to start unlearning the lies of Christmas, Easter, the Holy Days, and of course Shabbat. I was lost, confused, angry, and didn't know where to turn. But it was the Messianic people who helped me and today I know more than I did in 2018. I do believe we should all be honoring Saturday Shabbat, but how we get there, I don't know, other than doing what I try to do and that is to do it in my home. But this was really good to hear. Most Pastors who speak of this subject give every excuse and even twist scripture to justify Sunday Shabbat, or the Lords Day. They get so angry too in their quest to convince. I love and respect your approach! Especially the levelheadedness you've shown.
I also love looking deeper into our early Christian roots.Jeus is Lord of the Sabbath, so to me it is a matter of surrendering our heart and mind to the LORD specifically for rest and worship either one of those days. It is something to think about, however, how our Westernized modern world view of our faith can shape our view of scripture. Exactly! It us a day given by God to man for resting from everything that we do 6 days a week. But to help someone in trouble on that day, if we are confronted is not wrong. As Jesus showed by healing the man with the shriveled hand in Sabbath.
Precisely! One of God's many gifts to us. Jesus said it was MADE for us. And He is Lord of the Sabbath. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. I try to cherish all His gifts that He made for me, including the Sabbath.
And all the 40 plus years of my life I have only heard one person ever say that the Sabbath was on Sunday. And what I would really love for you to make a video on is the word believe. I know there could be multiple meanings in the Bible but I know believe is not simply believing. I know that there is an action behind it. Just like being a doer of the word if someone isn't a doer of the word they are deceived.

Brandon, an Interlinear translation with Strong's Concordance numbers is very helpful for understanding Acts 20:7. The meeting took place on the first Shabbat of seven leading to Pentecost. See Leviticus chapter 23. Counting the Omer. Shabbat is plural in the Greek
The Greek word Mia is the number one meaning first of seven Sabbaths to be counted.

David, you are correct that Shabbat is plural, but according to Strongs Concordance the word G4521 σάββατον sab'-bat-on can also mean "a se'nnight, that is, the interval between two Sabbaths" or a week. So the translation which says the "first (day) of the week" is a good translation. ( The word "day" is not in the Greek text, but it is understood.) The Counting of the Omer did not begin on a Shabbat, but on the day after a Shabbat.
The early church which was composed mostly of Jews who continued to attend the synagogue on Shabbat (our Friday at sundown to Saturday at sundown). Then after Shabbat ended they met together to "break bread", that is to eat a meal and have fellowship together.
Just before Acts 20:7 was Acts 20:6 "And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days." The Counting of the Omer began on the first day of the week of after the first Shabbat of Passover Week during the seven days of Unleavened Bread (Leviticus 23:6). That day was also the day of the wave offering of First Fruits (Leviticus 23:11). Since it took them 5 days after the days of Unleavened Bread to get from Philippi to Troas and then they were in Troas for 7 days before Paul's long talk during which Eutychus fell from the third story window, it could not be the first day of counting the Omer. It was at least 12 days (or possibly more) of the 50 days of Counting the Omer. Paul wanted to get to Jerusalem by Pentecost (Shavuot in Hebrew) which is the 50th day of counting the Omer.
@@CJ-wp3qi I asked a greek friend of mine, who is athiest, what does Mia ton Sabbaton mean, he said, the days the Jews met on. I then asked if in any way it could mean week, or first day of the week, and he said not at all. So that makes me wonder in the few times sabbaton is used for week if that is a real translation meaning, or one strongs has made since it made it into a translation?
Actually Shabbat ‘is’ the name of a day. God gave it the name. He called the days -day one, day two etc until the 7th day and this day was the only day He gave a name too. I loved your explanation of the history of the early church and it agrees with what I have learned but I don’t agree with Paul’s paradoxes the way you described it. Paul was talking about the Judiizers. Paul was a law keeper. He says many times that we are to uphold the law of God. (Romans 3:31 for one). Paul refers to 7 different laws. The law of God, the law of sin, the law of sin and death etc. so its important to understand which law he is referring to. We need to read in context. Paul was emphasizing that circumcision was not necessary for salvation in fact that was a heretical teaching. Only the blood of Christ could do this. Paul and Jesus instructs us to keep the law -not to be saved- but, because we are saved. Matt 5:17-18. (I think we all agree that heaven and earth are still here LOL)John even tells us that those that do not teach and keep the law will be the least in the kingdom of God. (Matt 5:19). God’s law is good and perfect according to psalm 119 and not to hard to keep according to God (1 John 5:3)(Deut 29:29, 30:11-16). Salvation through the blood of Jesus is the root and keeping the law (or rather instructions) of God is the fruit of our faith (faith worth out works is dead (James 2:14-26). We should be encouraged to do what Jesus did and left an example for us to follow. I keep shabbat as God instructs, simply because He tells me thats how I love Him back. (John 14:15). Keeping Shabbat is very simple to keep. Its like a date day with the lover of our soul. We are to just honor him with rest and not ot make others work. God says it is a ‘sign’ that we are HIs own special possession. The word sign is used as a wedding band is a sign. Sabbath (7th day rest) was pretty important to Father as you read the scriptures and He gave us a calendar and told us which day it was. I also go to a weslyan church on Sunday. It is a time to fellowship in a world where thats not so easy to do daily as were instructed to do. As a side note. The scripture that was used to help bring about Sunday.; where they met on the first day of the week -in the greek the word day is not there. It was actually the first of weeks as the counting of the omer between First fruits and Shavuot was 7 weeks and this is how they referred to the time. It was the first of “weeks”. All that being said I really enjoy your bible study and we watch you all the time. Thanks for the ability to come together and reason. My concern is for my grandchildren as part of a mainstream church which pivots on not keeping the law but expecting others to (abortion and gay marriage) I think the country is lawless because the church is lawless. We have no problem keeping 1.2 million USA laws but wont even try to keep the 10 commandment in order to love God back as He requests in our New Testament, AND His grace is for us so He knows we will fail but has provided a way of repentance and forgiveness. Brandon, I will keep the Sabbath, Sunday is and will always be the first day of the week. I understand the world and it’s demands however I don’t live for the world I live for God. We are still to keep the 10 commandments John 14:15
Acts 20:7 is not "on the first day of the week" in the Hebrew. It's "the first of the Sabbaths". It was referring to the first of the seven Sabbaths from First Fruits to Pentecost. Look up the words in Strongs.
All Christians were taught the Sabbath of Genesis as well as the Ten Commandments. Because that is how people learned in Bible times, by passing on the scripture from one generation, one person, to another. Jesus worshipped on the Sabbath because it was created day of rest, made for man as a memorial of Creation in which He created Himself. He also said He had not come to change the Law (10 Commandments). No where in the scriptures were we ever instructed to change the Sabbath. Man changed the day to suit himself. The 4th Commandment says “Remember….the 7th day is the Sabbath” Exodus 20. It is part of God’s moral Law that has not changed since it was given thousands of years ago.

7 day week was stablished at creation, 7th day sabath was created on creation,not the first day sabbath, but the 7th day sabath, constantine was a pagan authority who move the day of worship to the "sun" day, one of his Gods. Isaiah states we are going to worship on the 7th day in heaven,some protestant religions still worship on Saturday, it is one of the 10 commandments for crying out loud... there is no bible verse changing to sunday, just that one that they where meeting on sunday...they where meeting other days too. Let's not be deceived know your bible. Sabbath is not a Jewish day, there was not Jewish at creation, saturday is a bible day of worship, started at creation, continued in heaven. Listen well...at the end of time...the day of worship will be the deciding factor as to the allegiance to God.
I love your post, and listen to every one of them and share it with my friends, but this time you need to research better. Ask the 2 protestant religions who worship on sabbath and they will tell you why. God bless!

The thing is......that God made the Sabbath His fourth commandment. That makes it pretty important! It's very hard though, since I wasn't raised Jewish. And understanding the reasons behind their feasts aren't as mysterious as how they practice them. I'm not a good cook period. I certainly know zip about Jewish food. I want to honor God, but it's confusing and stressful. So far I have been managing to do it Friday night to Saturday, but as for the food I have only managed the 🍞 and 🍷 thing. Well kind of...I don't like wine so I use juice. Paul said not to let anyone judge you on this (what you eat,etc). I try to concentrate on Jesus on Shabbat. But I'm alone, so it's lonely sometimes. Sometimes I wish I had someone like a pastor to talk to, but I don't. I have no one to talk over problems with. I can't go to church, so I don't have community. I can't even get a pastor to call me back. It's just me and Him as it's been for all of my adult life. I just hope that He appreciates me trying. I would like to try some of their food though. Making a tv dinner isn't working....is it?

Thank you Brandon for making this video and for all the videos you make and for always asking us what we want to learn about it's just a sounding and I appreciate it it was so much gratitude. I like the idea of Shabbat or Sabbath whatever a person wants to call it. I also like the idea of Rosh Hashanah and a community of Christians that you meet with and rest with and praise God with. I think people need a day of rest and I think that our creator who rested on the seventh day ...did so to show us that human beings (who live in a place where there is time), need this respite at least every 7 days and that they need to spend it with God our creator to renew themselves fully. I think it's important to lay this out for ourselves somehow and make it work in our lives.

“Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest”. Does it really matter how you name the seventh day? If there are six workdays in a work-week, from Monday to Saturday, doesn’t that make Sunday to the seventh day and to the day of rest?
Read Ezekiel 20:20...just one of over 300 verses about the Sabbath.
Actually from what I been learning in the Torah (which is what Jesus followed) in Jewish calendar Sunday would have been the first day of the week which then makes Saturday the 7th day to rest according to the Torah written by Moses. It may not be important what anyone calls it but Jesus kept the Sabbath and the law written by Moses which came directly from God. I think we should strive to do the same if we want to follow Jesus. God seem to be very particular about us following his instructions to the letter. It reminds me what happened to Moses in "Numbers 20" Moses was commanded to speak to the rock for the water to come out for the people of Israel to drink but Moses out of anger with the people decided to disobeyed God and strike the rock instead. That cost him not to enter the promised land. And that is only one example of the consequences of us disobeying God's instructions as he says not as we think out of convenience or just plain disobedience.
The Sabbath is 1 of the Feasts of the Lord out lined in Leviticus 23. It is a blueprint, like all other feasts, of something to come. It represents the 7,000 year plan of God. Each day of creation represents 1000 years. We are nearing the end of the 6th day. Soon we will observe the beginning of the 7th day or the 1000 year reign of Christ.
Sabbath has its root during creation week. God blessed That day and made IT Holy. We cannot change this even though man has tried. It was kept by Adam and Eve and was lost when Gods people were taken into exile. However, God gave them back the 7th day sabbath with giving them manna to eat. They had to gather a double portion on Friday. Any other day if they would do that worms would eat it but not on the sabbath. It has been in operation ever since. The same Sabbath we keep now is the same one of creation week. Sabbath is one of the 10 Commandments that we are not to change. Doesn't matter who kept 8 days or 10. Its the 10 Commandment law we are to keep! It was important enough for God to write with his own finger in stone and we will observe it for eternity as a memorial to His creation! Read Revelation 12:17. It is still important for Gods people, to keep His laws, especially now! When Jesus told us he gave us a new commandment to love God with all our heart and the 2nd was to love neighbors like ourselves. The instructions on how to do that ARE the 10 Commandments!
