I love the fact that you added contour lines around the lips. I tried it once and my lip drawing was a lot more realistic. Awesome tutorial, Jono. Thanks for this, I took away something
Around 7:00 you mentioned moving to a different part of the drawing when getting frustrated with the drawing or how it's turning out, and am so happy I'm not the only one who does that. It is very important for me to give myself a bit of a break then come back with "fresh eyes"
This is going to help out so many beginner to intermediate artists, no matter what "degree of realism" they are aiming for. We pick up the details you mention (the blend between lip and surrounding skin, the erratic crevices etc.) over time, but to be shown can surely help to get to the realization much faster. 😊 Thanks, Jono! Also: an art critique video from you would be really cool!
You're an amazing teacher and this is incredible content! Always enjoyed your videos but the content you are putting out lately is so high quality, i find myself coming back and rewatching these videos constantly
Absolutely this, Jono has been such an inspiration that I got back into drawing recently, I haven't drawn anything in years! For my first work, it's a drawing of Jono :)
hello kuya jono, im a fan from philippines, im 16 years old and ive watched every video you made and im trying to be oike you but with my own version...mabuhay si kuya jono! keep it up! you have been my inspiration since the first time ive watched your videos
man! u are really a good artist . i have watched many video that how to draw a lips, they are not showing their secret tricks. but u are not like that .thank u soo much
It's so generous of you to share these tutorial videos. It can seem like some strange kind of magic when a person sees this kind of finished hyper realist work. Seeing the process renders it doable - with a lot of talent and practice, of course.
Ngl HE IS THE MOST GENUINE AND BEAUTIFUL ARTIST I HAVE EVER SEEN...his voice gives it all....I am just 16 these vids are helping me a lot...thanksss for these tutorials!!! I would love to show u some of my pencil shading artworks!!!
I got so excited when I saw the post notification when I woke up! I love your content, right now you're one of my favorite artists. Keep it up! P.S. the email idea would be so cool!
Wonderful voice and content of a super talented young artist! I can stay ours and ours listening to your voice! So calm and wise explanation of Jono! Love it! Lol!
When you draw a large size drawing Do you apply fixative in the mid process??? Or you apply after finishing it??? Please reply I wanted know I hope you understand what I am asking
I have sketched just before watching this video, seemed good to me but after watching you I have picked many mistake out and now my sketch looks lot more complete. Thanks Jono!
..Aaand I must say that I am forever grateful for your use of 8B lol. Besides the outstanding hyper-realism of your work, the absolute pitch-black darkness is what draws me to your pieces. (silly side note, I follow you on Twitter too)
This video was a very big deal to me because I'm currently working on my very first mouth in close up form. I see where he is correct, lines should look rather random because as too much uniformity makes it look fake.... Also the digital guide used to show the circles and diamonds really helped give some direction for realism. He's amazing and a great teacher as well. 💯🔥
@@JonoDry 😍😍 You've mentioned before that you wet your paper mainly to stretch it. So, I was wondering if you skip this step when working on a smaller drawing like the one in this video? or if you still do it to help it absorb graphite more?
Very nicely done Jono, the powder looks like the answer to speed up the process rather than blend all the time with pencil, will definitely give this a try. Thanks again Leigh.
Amazing tutorial, thank you for being so generous with your knowledge and experience! So concise and easy to understand. You make it look effortless and the result is just so beautiful 😍
You are the one who inspired me to draw.... You are a really good teacher... Thank you thank you very much.... (I tried the eye... It's not as good/amazing as yours but it's unbelievable that a man like me who don't ever drawn before, can draw by just watching you!❤️) Thank you thank you very much... ❤️❤️❤️ I expect more videos like this from you....❤️❤️❤️ Love you Brother ❤️❤️❤️

Gracious arts loves this. This is superb. I am artist but hope will can keep in touch someday. Your art work is hyperrealist. I am lady who is working hard to be like you. Jona I love your art works
I really love your work. This drawing looks sepia toned to me. Is that an effect of the lighting or are you using a kind of paper that lends to that tone? What paper are you using? I don’t see it listed or mentioned. Thanks for all your great, inspiring & informative videos. Very inspiring!
One question Jono are you buying the 9B graphite stick from Faber Castell PITT 9B because that is the only one i have found that goes to the 9B from any brand??
no, the paper is already straight so there is no need :) I only wet the paper when drawing my huge pieces because the paper I use comes in a roll. Hope this helps!
