मुंबई मेट्रो रेल कॉर्पोरेशन - MMRC मुंबईत भूमिगत मेट्रोची उभारणी करतंय. दक्षिण मुंबईतल्या कफ परेडमध्ये सुरू होणारी ही 33.5 किलोमीटर लांबीची अंडरग्राऊंड अॅक्वा लाईन, मध्य मुंबई पार करत थेट पश्चिम मुंबईतल्या आरेच्या जंगलात संपेल. मेट्रो 3 लाईनची स्टेशन्स आणि रूळ जमिनीच्या 22 -23 मीटर खाली खोदून बांधण्यात येतायत.

MVA government delayed the project by several years resulting in huge cost escalations also. It made the Aarey car shed an ego issue, not caring about the citizens of the city. Hope the project that was required 30 years ago, is completed soon.

@@nknnnn4977 no funds back then. As india had limited funds...so they concentrated on golden quadrilateral highways. Additionally gadkari built many highways like indias first expessway mumbai-pune. Started work on bandra worli which was being planned for 20 years. And now that we have better fiscal management, lots of taxes from petrol tax for both state and center, increased fdi investment, less corruption, stopped wastage of funds to middleman via direct benefit transfer and closed 8 crore fake benefit and aadhar accounts, and ofcourse good funds from GST. That is why gadkari says i have no shortage of funds. If state governments create land pool and land acquition i have lots of funds to start projects. One of the main reasons apart from lack of funds was vested interests would stall projects claiming environmental hazards etc. Like it happened now with Aarey car shed project, bullet train, and before jairam ramesh environmental minister during UPA himself opposed many projects like navi mumbai airport as they had to demolish few hills and divert river. He was saying move it to kalyan. Look example of Lavassa project passed by congress/ncp state government and rejected by congress central government saying environmental clearance was not taken after infrastructure company took loans and spent so much money. Mr. Kale do some research before typing.
We must Thanks to BJP for this metro project.. Congress Raj totally neglected Mumbai for 60yrs.. so not forget that.. Only BJP can do this..

मेट्रो च्या भोगद्यात पाणी येणार नाही हे पावसाच्या तीव्रतेवर आहे. पाणी येणार नाही हे पूर्णपणे नाकारू शकत नाही.
Half of the mumbai's working force come from badlapur to thane...and the only mode of transport for them is local trains which is horrible now..need to bring faster solution for this.
I think future project will be directed to bring these areas under metro line, i guess Bhiwandi, dombivali and kalyan will also come under metro lane, right now they r concentrating to start the metro line 2 and 3, and the 4th(thane)

Yes, they are installing 338 dewatering pumps at 27 spots. In addition to that, all the station entrances (and associated structures) are built about a meter above ground level. So there's flood prevention and flood removals mechanisms.

entrance to stations will not be built at ground level. Most water is likely to come in from entrance...unless water seeps through ground and into metro cement boundary

After horrible 26 July experience we just know our drainage system is pathetic and one thing is for sure Paani tunnel madhe yenaar te nakkich.
But still Mumbai will keep moving like it always does.

Wont be a problem, the engineers take all these things into consideration, it will go below Meethi river so worrying about drainage system is least of the challenge

Andheri east to Andheri west do not have much passengers except for few peak hours. This metro won't get sufficient passengers. Long distance stopage high speed buses would have provided better alternative.

@@abhi739, No, if bus has long distance stoppage say around five Kilometer. Then frequency will improve and people will switch over to buses from private vehicles. Driving in jammed traffic is exhaustive.
