Those engine hours are nothing, my friend just picked up a 2015 Tahoe with 142K miles and 18K engine hours and it drives like new. These are excellent trucks and you are right, it will take time and money to make them look like yours. Thanks for the video!
I bought a 2013 ppv. Look for the cities with low police activity! I added the insides from a wrecked escalade and denali. Keep in mind these do 140 mph. I replaced the driver seat cushion. Added a console and new console wiring harness. Definitely got it painted! I honestly had fun researching and building this thing. Kept me out of trouble. Facebook market place and Craigslist helps. This is a great video!
I picked up a white 09 Tahoe SSV it's the 4x4 equivalent to the PPV. Solid truck can't beat the price for the truck you get in return. If you got the time they are definitely worth the investment weather a PPV or SSV you won't be disappointed you just gotta find the right one. Mine was used by security at a hydo generation plant, low mileage and the only lights it has is the strobes in headlights and tail lights. I'm keeping mine as is I like the simplicity of it kinda reminds me of my 76 Blazer just a whole lot newer.
I got myself a 2010 crown Vic police interceptor and I’m thinking about getting a Tahoe police version. Just from the Vic and seeing how easy is to work on them and finding parts anywhere. Also the handling and reliability is a plus. Cleanest og police Tahoe I’ve seen.
My 2011 PPV Tahoe has 56000 miles and still has the Roscoe P Coltrane "Cuff 'Em and Stuff 'Em" plastic back seat. That's being replaced with black leather 60/40. Leaving the push bar intact for easy parking. And installing a center console so me and my lady will have a place to rest our elbows and cup holders for our beers. (Safety brigade can F-Off! Its legal where I keep my ride)!! I'm really enjoying my PPV Tahoe build!
I’ve built a couple PPV vehicles. You are right, you could just spend the money on a civilian vehicle, but the money you spend buying a civilian vehicle, won’t include a new paint job. Most 10 year old vehicles won’t have a perfect paint job. PPV’s allow you to customize the vehicle and get a new paint job. Your Tahoe is cleaner than any civilian Tahoe of that year. Good work!
Thank you! Yes, the new paint job ate into my budget for sure. Also buying a used LTZ, I would have replaced a bunch of parts also, just because of age.

I've never been stranded more than I was in those 2 POS. I still don't know why I bought the second one, though in fairness, it lasted 10 years and 150K (after replacing everything but the tailpipe!).

Nice work and thanks for all the extra info on the PPV Tahoes. I was wondering if you could send me the make of those headlights and maybe a link to where you picked them up. Cheers

The stereo is amazing. Best system I have ever done (and I do a lot). I’m a huge Kenwood fan. Most the new higher-end Kenwoods have wireless CarPlay. Check their website for details. Call clarity… all the microphones that come with these head units are junk. I didn’t show in my video, but I bought a new Tahoe’s factory microphone (the rectangle looking one) and retrofit in the headliner, then spliced the wires to the crap Kenwood microphone. Sounds so much better and looks factory. I try and buy everything open box from Best Buy and I also have their TotalTech service (2-year warranty on everything). If I remember correctly, they will install for free. I do everything myself for custom. To get the steering wheel controls to work like factory, I recommend iDatalink Maestro RR2 with the GM5+ adapter. Makes install super easy. They sell everything at Best Buy. My speakers are Alpine R-Type and all the amps are Alpine. Again they sell at Best Buy.
I didn’t have the wire harness for the center console from the factory, but the console I purchased did have the wiring for the cig lighters. I just ran two 16 gage wires from one of the two cig lighter from below the HVAC controls (along with t-taps) to the cig lighters in the arm rest. Super easy

Great video! I subscribed ! I just bought a 2013 with 82k. Mine was a detectives so it looks great, but I have a boat and didn’t know I couldn’t tow :( so I’m trying to figure all that out now
You can tow with a PPV Tahoe, it’s just missing the rear bumper enforcement (part# 25938524) from a civilian version. Trailer wiring is also already there on a PPV, just hidden. Just remove the rear bumper. Try and find the number enforcement at a junkyard. I paid about $70. S $350 new. I loved towing with mine.

It's got all the buttons for heated and cooled seats as well as USB, console wireless charger but none of them work. Do you have any idea of how to hook these things up?
The junk yard is your best friend for missing trim parts, such as the lights. If you have a giant hole from the circle light in the headliner, might have to pull one from the junk yard. For swapping out the seats, I would recommend joining the TahoeYukon forum and check out the PPV section. For me, I found a wiring schematic and learned what wires to twist together to get the 12-way leather seats to work. Others have found a way to get heated and cooled seats to work. You will learn a lot on that forum.
@Addictive ShoppeRx thanks there actually isn't a giant hole from the light up front. It's just a circle light that's super bright that also switches to red. I just have no need for it. The power seats all work too, the cooled and heated don't work tho so I'd love to figure out how to get those working. Other than that it's got almost everything a normal newer tahoe would have.
With regards to console, I have a 2013 SSV unit with all the wires still , do you think I could slide center console over it? It still has like slotted metal console in place that needs to be removed with wires under slotted area
Did you have to lift up the dash at all to get the center console to be flush? I'm watching a video and the guy has the center console but you can see a gap where the dash meets the console.
On Amazon “AmeriLite 2007-2013 Super Bright LED Bar Projector Black Headlights Pair For Chevy Avalanche Suburban Tahoe”. They take different light bulb sizes than OEM. They do come with bulbs, but recommend LEDs. For rear lights, I don’t remember, but the brand is Spyder. I think Autoanything.com had them on sale?
I went with Belltech Pro Street shocks and struts. For the rear, I went with Eibach 2" drop springs and civilian OEM front springs. The PPV rear springs are 2" lower than civilian and are firm. Because I bought the Belltech Pro Streets, you can drop up to 1" up front. Overall, I kept the lower stance of the PPV, but massive improvement of ride comfort. The PPV ride is horrible! I made it a lot better.
My dad bought a 2007 Avalanche brand new with 7k miles and got the 2 way advanced remote control but never opened it because he thought it wasn’t worth the hustle. He told me that i need to go to a dealer to get it installed. Is it worth the hustle to install it or is it better to sell this remote online?
The 2-way remote is worth it. It’s a little too bulky, but amazing! I bought mine at the dealership for like $250-$300 with install and programming. Good news, once it’s installed and programmed, you can add additional key fobs yourself through the DIC.
@@ShoppeRx i currently live in a country where we have no Chevy dealerships so I’ll keep the remote for when i go for a trip with my buddies somewhere on Europe and live my truck for a couple of days there

Sorry for the delay. I found a video here on RUclips of a guy who combined a bunch of wires together and followed the same. Have to cut the donors seats floor harness and cut your PPV's floor harness and solider.
the 2015-2020 is a little diff than the 2007-2014 body style. I recommend joining www.tahoeyukonforum.com they have a PPV section with other members doing the same :)

And other random things like the eBay website you suggest .
@@rodolfogutierrez1913 All the interior trim parts (other than new steering wheel) were pulled from a wrecking yard. Find a wrecking yard near you that’s open to the public and check if they have 07-14 Tahoes and Yukons on their website. Some of the nicer wrecking yards let you check stuff out put not pull. The employee do it for you. I’m a huge fan of B&R Auto wrecking if you live in the West. There were so many parts I pulled, wouldn’t even know where to start.
Getting a smooth ride? Hmm… I guess the biggest challenge with these PPV’s is the definition of smooth. I replaced front and rear shocks/struts along with the springs. Belltech Pro Street shocks and struts Eibach springs. There are so many variations. After the $1000 + I spent trying to make the suspension better, or listening to advice from the forums, I learned a lot. Replace the front and rear springs and shocks/struts with anything other than what’s on the PPVs and you will be good. What rims? I think they came off a 2014 Silverado? Found on CL and added the Bridgestone tires. Would have been cheaper buying the wheels with tires already on off CL. Any wheel from a GM truck or SUV that’s 6-lug will work.
Shocks are a huge factor to better ride, but the coils/springs are going to make even a better experience. If you switch to civilian versions of the coils/springs your ride height will increase. That’s why I went with 2” lowering springs in the rear for a softer ride and to keep the same stance. For the front I went with a civilian spring, but adjusted the front struts to drop about a 1/2”. The Belltech Pro Street struts can be adjusted to 1” either higher or lower.
I didn’t have the fog lights. Mine came with the caps, covering where the fog lights go. There is very little detail out there on the retro fit of fog lights. I never got around to doing the retro fit as there is no fog in Las Vegas.
Power? Exact same engine, and HP, but top speed on PPV is a little higher. Suspension? The PPV is different. It has a lower stance due to the springs/coils. Also the PPVs uses Monroe PPV shocks and struts that give it the firm ride.
Don't know why you keep saying GM is smart or lazy about pre wiring. They make more civilian model compared to government model so it makes good business sense by pre wiring every vehicle instead of having to sort thru different models. Gm can pop one of these, if i'm not mistaken every 45 mins from start to finish
Yo bro I wanted to ask about the suspension. Mines is shot and is oem but I wanted to ask do you have any suspension you recommended? I want to keep it in the lowered height and going to keep the stock steelies and tired because I like low pros. I would appreciate any support or info so I can purchase them and replace them.
I used Belltech Pro Street shocks and struts for a softer ride and adjustable height (in front). Used Eibach 2” drop springs in the rear (kept the same height) and went with civilian coil/spring in the front and lowered the front struts 1/2”.
@@ShoppeRx thank you for that. I also wanted to ask you did you ever get trouble with cylinder 8 misfire? I replaced the spark plugs, wires , trans fluid , trans filter , o ring, and oil, air filter and oil filter and now it’s still saying cylinder 8 misfire and now it’s throwing the 02 sensor as well. Any support with that?
@@rodolfogutierrez1913 Never had any Misfires, but did change out the spark plugs and coils. I would recommend getting a BlueDriver scanner. It's very helpful and will tell you common replacement parts that others did for the same code. Smart how it links it to Amazon to purchase the parts.
@@rodolfogutierrez1913 I bought on Amazon. I believe it's Delphi. The PPV uses the same spark plugs and coils as the civilian version. For amazon, just select a Tahoe LS as your "garage" car and shop parts.
I’ve watched this twice, great job! 19:10 you almost touched on it but is the wiring there for the heated seats and if so, is it also there for the switch? Thanks in advance. Ps..I heard you can get 40-60 MPG if you delete the AFM. 🙄🤡😂🤦🏽♂️..eat your heart out Prius.
Great question. When you buy leather seats from another Tahoe/Yukon that has heated seats built-in, you will also need to cut the wiring harness from the donor truck that runs through the floor. Using the donor seats and donor harnesses, you can find the wiring schematics to retro fit to the PPVs seat harness.I had to do this just to make the seat motors work. I don't remember seeing the factory harness in the door for the heated seat buttons, but you pull the heated seats switch and I believe it connects to the window switches. Many people have made it work. Also heard rumors of getting the cooled seats working also. Checkout the PPV section of the Tahoe/Yukon Forum for more on this subject. 40-60 MPG LOL!
Cathair 🤣 it's called fiberglass and those aren't strobes there called spotlights and better mpg turning off the vortec lol your funny my 16 tahoe gets 40-60Mpg with that on
Turning off the AFM/DOD has mixed reviews. They sell programming devices just for it. I had to do the delete as I was having issues with the lifters knocking switching from V8 to V4 mode. I would watch the display switch between V4 to V8 when slowing down at a stop light and the truck would rattle and make sounds. Once programmed out, no more issues at all.
Not all Class D amps are digital, but read up on Alpine. Many of them use Digital Sound processing, but ultimately analog power amping. Maybe I have always been fooled by the marketing on the box with Alpine LOL.

Nice Man!! That’s alotta work! Just got a 2013. Where did you get the paint job at? May I ask how much you payed?
Affordable Collision in Las Vegas. Great work. Around $2k, but I did all the preparations and dismantling to save money
@@ShoppeRx thanks
@@chaseaustin6898 how much did you bought it 2013 model suburban and im sure there is a price difference between 2007 and 2013
@@gunner6325 it was a Tahoe, i got it at a auction that’s your best place to look for one

I have a 2013... What struts and springs do you recommend replacing the ppv versions??
@@ShoppeRx i currently live in a country where we have no Chevy dealerships so I’ll keep the remote for when i go for a trip with my buddies somewhere on Europe and live my truck for a couple of days there
@@ShoppeRx there’s also no videos on RUclips whatsoever about this remote is really strange
How did you wire up the center console? I can’t find the harness
I tapped (t-taps) the wires of the cig lighter below the HVAC controls and ran 16 gage wire to the cig lighter in the center console (also t-tap). It was super easy.
how did you get the stock seat control plug to work with the leather seats.
Sorry for the delay. I found a video here on RUclips of a guy who combined a bunch of wires together and followed the same. Have to cut the donors seats floor harness and cut your PPV's floor harness and solider.
just got a 2014 with 88kmiles. Can you share the link for the console phone charger?
bought it from boostautoparts.com
I’m about to do a 2018 and I have a lot of questions?
the 2015-2020 is a little diff than the 2007-2014 body style. I recommend joining www.tahoeyukonforum.com they have a PPV section with other members doing the same :)
What’s the website and pages of where you got your products done and the guy on eBay? I’m looking for it but can’t find anything . Would love to get the links to everything so I can start upgrading mines
What are items are you looking for?
@@ShoppeRx I’m looking for everything basically. I bought a 2014 pi Tahoe and it has a rear view camera, center console but I’m looking for the trim , the cup holders for the center console , whatever goes into the center console , it looks like something goes in it . And other random things like the eBay website you suggest .
@@rodolfogutierrez1913
All the interior trim parts (other than new steering wheel) were pulled from a wrecking yard.
@@ShoppeRx thank you I’m hit them up. Also what about the eBay page you mentioned?
I have a old black k9 unit, rides ruff, what I need to get a smoother ride. I wanted to lift it also. And what kind of factory rims are those?
@@ShoppeRx Thanks man
How do I make mine ride better? Can I change just the shocks?
Shocks are a huge factor to better ride, but the coils/springs are going to make even a better experience.
If you switch to civilian versions of the coils/springs your ride height will increase. That’s why I went with 2” lowering springs in the rear for a softer ride and to keep the same stance. For the front I went with a civilian spring, but adjusted the front struts to drop about a 1/2”. The Belltech Pro Street struts can be adjusted to 1” either higher or lower.
@@ShoppeRx cool cool thanks
Also did yours come with stock fog lights or did you install them or wire them with a kit?
I didn’t have the fog lights. Mine came with the caps, covering where the fog lights go. There is very little detail out there on the retro fit of fog lights. I never got around to doing the retro fit as there is no fog in Las Vegas.
does a regular LS differ from the PPV or SSV in terms on power and suspension?
Power? Exact same engine, and HP, but top speed on PPV is a little higher. Suspension? The PPV is different. It has a lower stance due to the springs/coils. Also the PPVs uses Monroe PPV shocks and struts that give it the firm ride.
What's the name of the thing to delete the dropping down to 4 cylinder
DOD (displacement on demand) or also know as AFM (Active Fuel Management)
Sorry, if you asked what device did I use to delete the DOD/AFM? It’s called a DiabloSport Tuner.
Don't know why you keep saying GM is smart or lazy about pre wiring. They make more civilian model compared to government model so it makes good business sense by pre wiring every vehicle instead of having to sort thru different models. Gm can pop one of these, if i'm not mistaken every 45 mins from start to finish
Should have just bought a regular 2009 Tahoe if you were just gonna make it look like a regular Tahoe waist of money in my eyes but nice tho
How much for the paint job
About $2k, but I did all the body work, prep, and disassemble for that price.
Wow i think yours is an odd ball i have had 2 of these amd mine bith had hitches dual poer leather seats towing package
cool great job
@@ShoppeRx you got an email? And where did you buy the coil packs? Need to get them but kinda hesitant because of the price
@@rodolfogutierrez1913 I bought on Amazon. I believe it's Delphi. The PPV uses the same spark plugs and coils as the civilian version. For amazon, just select a Tahoe LS as your "garage" car and shop parts.
What size are your rims?
The original black steel wheels I believe were 17". Replaced with some factory 20" that I bought from a Silverado
@@ShoppeRx thanks! You’re very helpful. What forum are you on? So many groups to chose from these days.
Car fax is not good it only shows what is reported!
How did you find wheels that weren’t PPV? I thought they were 8 bolt and PPV only takes 17” steel wheels.
Mine has leather power seats and a center console. And anyone who would add carpet is a clown
How did you do the center console wires?
I’d easily spot it with no decals
Should have just bought a civilian car lol
Cathair 🤣 it's called fiberglass and those aren't strobes there called spotlights and better mpg turning off the vortec lol your funny my 16 tahoe gets 40-60Mpg with that on
So not worth turning it off ? MPG wise ?
Turning off the AFM/DOD has mixed reviews. They sell programming devices just for it. I had to do the delete as I was having issues with the lifters knocking switching from V8 to V4 mode. I would watch the display switch between V4 to V8 when slowing down at a stop light and the truck would rattle and make sounds. Once programmed out, no more issues at all.
LOL! Glad my video made you laugh! 40-60 MPG? You must do a lot of downhill driving.
@@ShoppeRx nope that's just what I get In general alot of flat areas where I'm at no downhills

Not all Class D amps are digital, but read up on Alpine. Many of them use Digital Sound processing, but ultimately analog power amping. Maybe I have always been fooled by the marketing on the box with Alpine LOL.
