A cool tip for you .. with the weedless .. instead of putting with paddle tail over the lead on the hook ..start like normal putting the hook point through the shad ... Bring it back out then insert the eye and then carry on hooking up as normal
Great content 👍 as I’m getting ready to place a order for some Zman products... haven’t tried them but as I’ve been reading/watching reviews they seem to work well... thanks for posting ✌️
why do i feel like on that weedless weighted hook setup there is not enough gap for the fish to actually push the bait down and get hooked, doesnt there have to be a pretty large gap so the plastic can be bent down far enough to actually penetrate the fishs' mouth? i dont really know but that seems quite shallow for a gap

I saw you wrote that the grip pin is a 3/0. What weight do you use? I'd like a slow sink, but with the buoyant elaztech, I'm concerned the 1/16 or 1/8 would float. If you throw the 5" diezel minnowz, I'm looking for hook size and weight recommendations for that as well. Thanks.
All depends on the depth that you'll be targeting... get multiple weight options so that you can cover various depths. Given how much the 5" diezel minnow floats, I'd go with a minimum of 1/8th oz for the shallows (under 2ft), and then go with a jig head for deeper than that.
What size grip pin Hook is that, I have trouble finding the mustad grip pins locally but have plenty of gamakatsu weighted hooks. What's a good size to weight ratio for a 3- 3.5 " swimbait fished from 3' or less of water
That is a 3/0 sized grip pin. I like that size for pretty much all zman baits I've tested so far. But I don't like it for non-zman baits as described in this review: www.saltstrong.com/articles/mustad-grip-pin-hook-review/
That one is the 3/16th oz Trout Eye jig head... my personal favorite of them all. They are tough to find in local stores, so we decided to carry them in ours to help subscribers and members easily get them: shop.saltstrong.com/products/zman-trout-eye-jig-head-3-16oz-pearl
@@Saltstrong yeah the 1/8 ounce is to light imo for those buoyant zman minnowZ/diezel minnowZ baits. The 3/16 is equivalent to an 1/8 ounce DOA jig head on a DOA shad tail.
I use the Gammakatsu Weighted EWG Superline Swimbait hook for Z-Man Swimmerz and they don't have the keeper that the grip pin does but they're very similar. When I pin the hook tip to rig it weedless like you did in this video by my 5-6th cast, the bait slides up off the hook. It's like the hook point gets pushed out by the elaztech due to the force of hitting the water every cast. Would you say that the bait needs to be taught or have a bit of play for it to sit in place? After a fish or two, I find the hole in the top of the bait gets bigger and more likely to foul mid retrieve. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, can't get the Mustad grip pin hooks in my areas.
Those typical worm style hooks do not work very well with zman baits. If rigging them on a weighted hook, my favorite is the owner twistlock once I learned this trick to make the rigging pretty easy on a spiral keeper: www.saltstrong.com/fishing-tip/rig-z-man-jerkbait-lure/

Great vid. Zman when rigged and used properly are killers. The gap in the top fin is a great place for procure or other scents!
Great video. Thx for the close up view! Too many channels do not go extra step to zoom in tight for the audience.
Amazing and thanks for the tips i like the weedless more
Thanks for watching!
Best paddletail baits I have ever used!
need to try weedless more this year and def like that hook vs the screw in set up (for zmans)
Weedless is the way to go!

Awesome video mate! I love these plastics for fishing the fringing reefs but I wasn't quite rigging them right. Thanks for the hot tips
Excellent demonstration, thank you!
Always impressed with your videos! Can’t thank you enough for the boatload (no pun intended LOL) of information acquired from Salt strong 👍
good video, I find it almost impossible to get those suckers on the jig head barbs, can't wait to try this
Glad you found it helpful!
Left A few diezel minnowz in my frog box last year.
The elaztec isn't made to be housed w frogs.

Thanks Lou thanks Joe. I'm enjoying my education, thank you.

i agree
Like the rigging methods but what size hook to use for 4" and 5" z mann
General rule of thumb - 5" plastic use a 5/0 hook, 7" 7/0 etc.
What set up would you recommend for sihing these soft plastics and a 3/8 Jig? (Rod length, action, lb test etc)

is that the redfish eye jig head
What lure weight rod rating do you recommend to throw 1/8oz jigs w diezel minnowz?

What are your thoughts on the MinnowZ 3/16 Hook either the Diezel? Seems harder to rig but really like the action.
What size jighead used for 2.5 and 3.5 inch soft plastics

Good info as I'm learning to how to fish with artificial bait. Can this be rigged with an off- set bass hook and casting weight?

This hook is very similar to a flutter head jig so I’d rig it the same?
Whats your favorite color and what do you recommend for dark/light water/night day?
I use natural colors most of the time (and I don't bother switching around because color is not nearly as important as the retrieve tempo/speed).
What knot is used to tie the lure onto the leader?
It's called the non-slip loop knot... here's a great lesson on how to tie it: www.saltstrong.com/articles/non-slip-loop-knot/
Thank you
You're welcome

thanks for the tip they work okay just not perfect.
thanks nice video!!
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment.
Not gonna lie, rigging these zman on a normal jighead is a pain. I simply use a texas jig or weedless weighted hook.
Idk, hook looks a little short
This one looks like 3 inches not 4.
They look very similar to one another... the 3-inch ones come in packs of 6. This 4-inch version comes in packs of 5.
Don’t use the zman finnese jig head it’s to small use zman redfish eye it’s longer
I'm death why would you make vid with out sub-tiles ?
Hate to hear about your death.
