    Stanley did hit a HOME run with this coffee press. It makes better coffee then I can at home.
    But did you know it also makes a good veggie streamer, bring about 3/4 of a inch of water to a boil, put your veggies inside the press and push down about half way put your lid on and steam for your desired time. Wonderful and clean up is a snap.

    LOVE that piece of kit! I have used mine for years now. Hasn't failed me yet. When my USMC son was readying for his most recent deployment I bought him one to take with him. During those brief moments of in the field R&R he says that he "guards it in full battle rattle" so it doesn't grow legs!.

      I bet. Thanks so much for the feedback. And we pray for your son and your family. Our country is built on the strength of our families. Where he stationed? My nephew just finished up and retired from the Marines in San Diego during the crazy covid drama..Also we just did a video on how to make cold brew using the Brew Press.

      @@greatamericansurvival Thank you so much. Blessings and USMC ❤️🤗 TO YOUR NEPHEW FOR HIS SERVICE. When my MARINES Son is stateside he is mostly stationed out of PARRIS ISLAND but his small elite team goes wherever they are needed most at any given time. He is often at LEJEUNE, too, but of late he was at PALMS. I never know until he tells me, often only after he has returned. You "understand" it's that "loose lips and ships" thing so I don't ask unless I have a "need to know".
      Thanks again, I'll give him your kind regards when next we talk.

    I use this item in the kitchen. I do a quasi-cowboy brewing method. Bring to a hot temp, throw in a few scoops (Sam's 105 Main works best IMHO), then bring to a rolling boil for about 4 minutes. Let it set for a bit, throw in a small amount of cooler water, then put your press in. Super smooth coffee.

    I just bought this and plan to buy another for the BOL. I'm curious about the type of grounds used vs. the flavor return rendered in the finished product. For example, will it work well with a coarse ground, like Folgers (the staple around our house because it's cheap and widely available) or do you need a finer grind? I plan to buy a few of these for different purposes such as home preparedness, BOL comfort, and for use in the field when I go to disaster areas as a HAM operator.
    Another question I have is, how well has it held up since this video was made in 2017?

    • @greatamericansurvival
      @greatamericansurvival  5 лет назад +1

      hrdknox2000 Honestly if you use course grind you can let it brew longer. Finer grind means it brews, faster. Drip coffee only needs a couple minutes. It makes a great cup of coffee especially for two or more.

    • @greatamericansurvival
      @greatamericansurvival  3 года назад +1

      I’ve seen people make metal lids for it but I don’t know of an actual product that’s metal lid fits sorry. I’ve had mine for 5 years and it’s still works.

    • @debbies2295
      @debbies2295 2 года назад

      Survival Resources makes a generic lid that fits this, as well as the smaller metal pot/cups. Bought mine a few years ago & notice design is different now, but measurements appear to be same. Used to be called Universal Pot Lid, now called Pathfinder. Tried to post link a few times, but it won't let me.

This Stanley French Press is convenient and makes a large amount of coffee but it does not compare to a Moka Coffee maker (less coffee but much better, robust taste). What are your measurements for water to coffee ratio. Maybe this will increase the coffee flavor from the Stanley French Press Coffee maker.

Since I’ve retired, I have a source for the packs, but it’s infrequent and I can’t depend on a constant supply. So, a couple of months ago, I picked up a Stanley French Press. It does a great job!! Nothing like fresh morning coffee by a campfire. I can use the pot, without the sleeve, for boiling water and other camp fixings.

    I have this. I use it....a lot. Word of advice: don't press the plunger with the lid on it like this guy did. It works a lot better and you don't have to push as hard. And remember not to cook or heat water with the cover on it either.

    I wish they made a separate press for the Stanley cook set. Then again, this item might go extinct. I watched another upload where the Mr. Coffee French press will work perfectly in the original Stanley cooker. Anyway...
    Thanks for the upload!

      Jonathan Baker Thanks Jonathon for taking time to comment. I’ve been using this for my cook kit and using the smaller press to make coffee. I just recently did a video on it. What part of the country do you live? What do you use for coffee now?

    • @pastrybaker72

      @@greatamericansurvival I live on the South Carolina coast.
      I don't use a french press during hikes/backpacking. I usually do the old skool "cowboy coffee" method.

      Jonathan Baker That’s awesome, I have family in Conway and Charleston areas. We were just up there a couple weeks back. Done cowboy coffee many a times. I’ve been using an espro press lately it’s really lightweight. But only makes one cup at a time.

    Would a fuel canister fit inside the press part?

    • @greatamericansurvival
      @greatamericansurvival  6 лет назад

      Some of the smaller ones do. Without the cups and coffee stowed inside you can store a canister and msr mini stove.

      Talking about leaking; i dont really have the space for a coffee maker. Do you think it can be taken as a canteen (water container) or do you think it will leak badly when packed (filled with water) in the bottle compartment of a backpack with the lid on?
